What Changed in PoE 2 0.5.5?
The biggest change is the removal of Outer Saga from normal Event League Expedition content. Instead, Outer Saga can now randomly appear on Grand Expedition maps.
This means players can no longer rely on the guaranteed rewards that made the previous Expedition strategy incredibly profitable. However, Expedition remains exceptionally strong because Logbooks are cheap and Grand Expeditions can still generate enormous amounts of loot.
The strategy has changed from simply forcing the best possible Expedition to efficiently fishing for strong Grand Expedition layouts and Rune combinations.
Best Expedition Tablet Setup
For players who want to maximize their Expedition profits, the recommended setup is three Eradicated Tablets.
These Tablets provide additional random map modifiers, making your Grand Expedition maps significantly more rewarding. Ideally, look for modifiers that increase Monster Effect or the number of Rare Monsters.
Item Rarity is another useful option, although it is generally considered weaker than Monster Effect or additional Rare Monsters.
Three high-quality Tablets can be expensive, so they should mainly be reserved for your best Grand Expedition maps. If you are playing a weaker character or want a cheaper strategy, using lower-investment Tablets is completely viable.
The important thing is that Expedition remains profitable even without heavy investment.
Best Waystone Mods for Expedition
Your Waystones are another major part of the strategy. Prioritize modifiers that increase monster rewards, especially Monster Effect, Monster Rarity, and Item Rarity.
One effective approach is to prepare a large number of Waystones, apply quantity-related currency such as Omen of Chaotic Quantity, and then corrupt them.
You do not need to keep every map. Focus on maps with excellent combinations of modifiers, particularly those with strong Pack Size or multiple useful monster modifiers.
The goal is simple: increase the number and quality of monsters without making the map unnecessarily difficult.
Best Atlas and Expedition Setup
Monster Effect should generally be your primary Atlas priority because it directly improves the rewards from Expedition encounters.
If your character struggles with the difficulty, Monster Rarity can be used instead. This sacrifices some potential profit but makes the content considerably safer.
For the Expedition-specific Atlas area, Desert is the stronger option for maximizing rewards, while Forest can be used if you need an easier experience.
For Expedition points, prioritize bonuses that increase monster life and improve the value of Remnants and Runic modifiers. More powerful monsters can be dangerous, but the additional loot makes the difficulty worthwhile for a sufficiently strong build.
