Summary
Path of Exile 3.29 delivers major buffs to Incinerate of Venting and staves, enabling a powerful SSF Elementalist build. This zero-to-hero journey reaches roughly 50 million damage and defeats all 10 Uber bosses in just a few days.
Path of Exile 3.29 Creates a Powerful New Incinerate Build
Path of Exile 3.29 introduced several changes that completely transformed the potential of Incinerate of Venting. Combined with the newly improved staff crafting system and the powerful Rex Talisman, POE currency, these changes allowed an SSF Elementalist to progress from a fresh character to defeating every Uber boss.
The goal of this experiment was simple: start completely from scratch in Solo Self-Found and document the entire journey. The character eventually reached approximately 50 million damage with only a few days of SSF progression, making it one of the strongest early SSF setups tested by the player.
Smooth Leveling With Righteous Fire and Scorching Ray
The journey started with Righteous Fire and Scorching Ray. Thanks to the 3.29 buffs to Scorching Ray, leveling was extremely smooth and required very little investment.
The character eventually switched to Incinerate of Venting after completing the Uber Lab. The skill immediately showed why the 3.29 changes were so important. Its high damage effectiveness made single-target encounters surprisingly comfortable, with bosses such as Black Star and Infinite Hunger falling quickly.
Early upgrades focused on simple crafting methods. Essence of Zeal was used on Amethyst Rings to obtain cast speed, providing an immediate boost to both damage and clear speed.
The Early SSF Gear Strategy
One of the most important goals was creating a strong defensive foundation without relying on trade. Delirium farming was used to obtain the Doryani's Lesson notable, which enabled elemental damage leech.
This worked particularly well with Petrified Blood and Pain Attunement. By keeping the character in a low-life state, Pain Attunement provided a significant damage multiplier while overleech and regeneration helped recover life quickly.
Vitality and Golem-based regeneration added even more sustain. The result was a character capable of recovering thousands of life per second while maintaining excellent damage.
Staves Become a Major Weapon Choice in 3.29
The staff changes in Path of Exile 3.29 were another major part of the build. Staves could now provide extremely high gem levels, including +4 to gem levels, creating a massive increase in spell damage.
Harvest crafting was used to search for better fire modifiers and cast speed. Even an early +2 Fire Staff represented a significant upgrade, while later crafting produced a much stronger +4 Fire Staff.
The new staff options also provided valuable critical strike, damage, and defensive possibilities, making them especially attractive for an Incinerate-based Elementalist.
Archdemon Crown Provides an Easy Six-Link
Ritual farming eventually produced an Archdemon Crown, which became another major upgrade. Adding an Essence of Horror and crafting additional modifiers effectively created a powerful six-link setup without needing a traditional six-linked body armour.
At this stage, Incinerate of Venting was already capable of clearing Tier 16 maps reasonably well. Although alternative movement and clearing setups were possible, the player continued using Incinerate itself instead of sacrificing damage for faster mapping.
Elementalist Is an Excellent Match for Incinerate
The Elementalist Ascendancy proved to be particularly effective for this build.
Shaper of Storms provided reliable Shock, while Exposure increased elemental damage. Convergence improved damage and area coverage, and the Golem bonuses helped solve several problems at once.
This combination gave the build damage, mana sustain, area of effect, and utility without requiring complicated mechanics. For a channeling spell such as Incinerate of Venting, the Elementalist tree also provided an efficient starting position.
Reaching Four Void Stones
Instead of rushing the four Void Stones immediately, the strategy focused on farming upgrades first. Invitations such as The Formed and The Twisted were completed once the character was strong enough.
The same philosophy was applied to Shaper, Elder, Maven, and other major encounters. This approach proved much safer than aggressively rushing progression with weak SSF equipment.
Eventually, all four Void Stones were obtained, and the character could begin focusing on serious endgame farming.
The Rex Talisman Changes the Defensive Setup
The biggest defensive upgrade came from the Rex Talisman.
Its ability to convert Cold and Lightning damage from hits into Fire damage created an unusual defensive setup. Instead of trying to maximize separate Cold and Lightning defenses, the character could stack extremely high Fire Resistance and effectively ignore many sources of Cold and Lightning penetration.
With the right setup, the character reached approximately 90% elemental resistance, while the Rex Talisman also helped bypass mechanics that would normally reduce Cold or Lightning resistance.
This was the key to turning a previously fragile caster into an exceptionally durable bossing character.
Petrified Blood Remains the Biggest Weakness
Despite the impressive defenses, the build had one major problem: damage over time.
The Rex Talisman primarily helped against damage from hits, while Petrified Blood made incoming damage-over-time effects especially dangerous. Ground effects, beams, puddles, and other elemental DoTs remained the character's biggest threat.
The solution was simple but demanding: avoid the ground effects.
Against direct elemental hits, the build could often stand its ground. Against DoTs, however, movement and positioning remained essential.
Critical Strike Takes the Build to Another Level
After obtaining a six-link, the character transitioned into a critical strike setup.
The change dramatically increased damage, reportedly almost doubling the build's output. Staff critical strike nodes, power charges, Diamond Flask uptime, and additional critical modifiers all contributed to the transformation.
The timing of this transition was important. Moving into crit too early could make certain map modifiers more troublesome without providing enough additional damage to compensate. With a six-link and stronger equipment, however, the critical setup became much more effective.
The finished staff and Archdemon Crown pushed the character's damage to an extremely high level.
From 50 Million Damage to Uber Bosses
After several days of SSF farming, the build finally reached the point where Uber content was realistic. The Rex Talisman, strong staff, six-link equipment, high Fire Resistance, block, regeneration, and Petrified Blood combined into a powerful endgame package.
Uber Shaper was particularly impressive because Shaper's Cold damage could be converted into Fire damage. Instead of being heavily punished by Cold penetration, the character could rely on its enormous Fire Resistance.
Uber Elder demonstrated the build's defensive potential even further. With Spell Block, Arctic Armour, Cloak of Flame, regeneration, and Rex Talisman, the character could effectively face-tank many Shaper Balls while continuously channeling and leeching.
Some Uber Fights Still Exposed Weaknesses
Not every boss was easy.
Uber Exarch was particularly dangerous because the character's Golems could trigger mechanics that created extremely difficult situations. The encounter effectively became a DPS race, forcing the player to rely on overwhelming damage rather than perfect defense.
Uber Maven was another challenging fight because of her movement and dangerous ground mechanics. Petrified Blood made mistakes especially punishing.
Uber Sirus was similarly dangerous because certain mechanics could kill the character immediately, particularly when combined with problematic positioning and off-screen attacks.
Nevertheless, the build successfully completed the entire Uber lineup.
Final Results: A Powerful 3.29 SSF Experiment
The entire journey took around 2 days and 15 hours of played time, although there was considerable AFK time. The character accumulated roughly 238 deaths, showing that the journey was far from flawless.
Even so, the final result was impressive: a fresh SSF character reached around 50 million damage and defeated all 10 Uber bosses.
The experiment also highlights how dramatically the 3.29 buffs affected Incinerate of Venting and staff-based spell builds. The combination of high damage, strong elemental defenses, critical scaling, regeneration, Path of exile currency, and Rex Talisman technology created an unusually powerful archetype.
This is not necessarily a beginner-friendly build guide, and several pieces of the setup required significant SSF farming. However, as a demonstration of what is possible in Path of Exile 3.29, the journey is remarkable.
If the build remains viable in future leagues, it could become an attractive league-start option for players looking for a high-damage Elementalist capable of progressing from basic gear to serious Uber content.
