Set on a near-future Earth, the game revolves around the Omnic Crisis. After the Omnic uprising, the United Nations founded Overwatch to put down the crisis. The organization later disbanded amid controversies, yet former members have now reunited to combat the terrorist group Talon. There is no traditional story mode in the game; its worldview and hero lore are unveiled through animated shorts, comics and other supplementary media.
