Summary
MapleStory Classic World will launch without Third Job, meaning Second Job skills will define a large part of the early-game meta. If you care about fast EXP, efficient mobbing, low potion costs, or building up MapleStory Classic World Mesos, some classes clearly have an advantage. Based on the current Second Job skill balance, here is the ranking you should know before choosing your main.
S Tier: The Best Farmers
1. Fighter:
Why it's strong: Excellent mobbing, good mobility, and strong melee damage.
Fighter's biggest advantage is Final Attack. With an Axe build, it can trigger additional damage and even apply a bleed effect.
Final Attack can also hit multiple enemies, giving Fighter strong grinding potential.
Rush improves mobility, while Rage provides additional attack power and party utility.
Weakness: Melee combat means more incoming damage and higher potion costs.
Rating: S Tier
2. Lightning Mage
Why it's strong: Six-target Thunder plus elemental advantages.
Thunder can hit up to six monsters, making Lightning Mage one of the strongest mobbing classes in Second Job.
The early game is weaker because Thunder takes time to become effective.
Once you reach maps with Lightning-weak monsters, however, the class becomes much more efficient.
Weakness: Slow early progression and limited ideal training maps.
Rating: S Tier
A+ Tier: Strong and Efficient
3. Cleric:
Why it's strong: Healing, low costs, and safe ranged farming.
Cleric's Heal provides excellent sustain and significantly reduces potion spending.
Holy attacks can also deal increased damage against monsters with Holy weakness.
Teleport adds mobility and makes repositioning much easier.
Weakness: Mobbing is good, but not as powerful as the S Tier classes.
Rating: A+ Tier
4. Fire/Poison Mage:
Why it's strong: Excellent Fire damage and reliable ranged grinding.
Fire Arrow provides strong single-target damage and works especially well against Fire-weak monsters.
Poison adds another source of damage over time and gives the class some mobbing potential.
The class also has ranged attacks and mobility, making it relatively safe to grind.
Weakness: Poison takes time to deal damage and isn't ideal against every monster.
Rating: A+ Tier
A Tier: Reliable Choices
5. Hunter:
Why it's strong: Safe ranged damage and solid mobbing.
Arrow Bomb can hit multiple enemies and has a chance to stun.
Final Attack adds additional damage, while Soul Arrow removes the need to constantly worry about arrows.
Weakness: Hunters don't have a strong movement skill.
Rating: A Tier
6. Crossbowman:
Why it's strong: Consistent damage and excellent performance on flat maps.
Iron Arrow deals strong damage and can penetrate multiple monsters.
Crossbowmen also have a chance to ignore enemy weapon defense.
Weakness: No major mobility or healing tools.
Rating: A Tier
7. Spearman:
Why it's strong: Durability, range, and sustain.
Spearman has useful defensive tools and access to Rush.
Its Final Attack can also provide healing, helping reduce potion costs.
Spears and Polearms have slower attack speeds, though, which limits their farming speed.
Rating: A Tier
8. Page:
Why it's strong: Solid damage and useful Warrior mobility.
Pages can use Slash Blast for mobbing and gain Rush for better movement.
Their Final Attack can also provide strong single-target damage.
Weakness: They lack the healing and utility offered by other Warriors, while Threaten isn't particularly exciting for grinding.
Rating: A Tier
B Tier: Fun, But Slower Farmers
9. Assassin:
Why it's strong: Fast, mobile, and comfortable to play.
Lucky Seven provides reliable ranged damage.
Haste gives excellent mobility, while Drain provides sustain.
Critical Throw also improves critical chance and damage.
The problem: Assassin has very limited mobbing during Second Job.
You can kill single targets quickly, but classes that hit multiple monsters will generally level faster.
Rating: B Tier
10. Bandit:
Why it's strong: Huge single-target damage and good mobility.
Savage Blow can deal extremely high damage once fully developed.
Haste improves movement, while Steel gives Bandit some limited mobbing and crowd control.
The problem: Bandit is a late bloomer.
Its Second Job farming efficiency isn't as impressive as Fighter, Mage, or Archer.
Rating: B Tier
Complete Second Job Tier List

What Makes a Good Second Job Farmer?
The biggest factor is mobbing.
Classes that can hit several monsters at once generally have a major advantage when grinding for EXP.
Range is another important factor. Ranged classes can attack from safer positions and usually take less damage.
However, sustain also matters. Cleric may not have the strongest mobbing, but its healing can dramatically reduce potion costs.
Which Class Should You Choose?
Want the fastest mobbing? Try Fighter or Lightning Mage.
Want cheap and safe grinding? Cleric is an excellent choice.
Prefer ranged combat? Hunter and Crossbowman are reliable options.
Want strong elemental farming? Fire/Poison Mage is worth considering.
Love mobility and single-target combat? Assassin or Bandit can still be very fun.
The tier list is based specifically on Second Job farming, not the entire game's progression. Since grinding in MapleStory Classic World will take a lot of time, the best class is ultimately the one you actually enjoy playing, especially if you are looking for efficient ways to earn MapleStory Classic Mesos along the way.
