Aion 2 Update Preview: New Dungeons and other Changes
The developers of Aion 2 have revealed a wealth of information about a major upcoming patch. This guide summarizes the most important changes, including new dungeons, the Arcana system, PvP adjustments, and quality-of-life improvements.
1. New & Updated Dungeons
New Transcendent Dungeon (The "Arcana" Dungeon)
A new, highly anticipated Transcendent Dungeon is arriving. This is the primary way to obtain the new Arcana Card.
Entry Requirements (Gear Score):
Levels 1-3: 3,000 Gear Score
Levels 4-6: 3,200 Gear Score
Levels 7-10: 3,500 Gear Score
Rewards: You will need to collect 2 Fragments by clearing the dungeon. These fragments are then merged or combined to create the new Arcana Card.
Note: Even at the minimum requirement (Levels 1-3), you can begin farming these fragments.
Chaos Abyss Dungeon (Mid-March)
A new PvPvE dungeon format is coming in mid-March.
Format: Details are unclear, but speculation points to a format similar to the original Aion's "Dredgion" (e.g., 6v6 or 3v3).
Matchmaking: It was confirmed that matchmaking could be Faction vs. Faction, or possibly even Same Faction vs. Same Faction.
New Sanctuary Dungeon
Release Date: March 11th.
2. PvP & Combat Changes
Abyss (Open World PvP)
Death Penalty: The loss of rank points upon death has been reduced by 87% .
Loot Rules (Major Change): You can now receive drops from bosses based on your contribution even if you are dead. Previously, dying meant you got nothing. This encourages participation even in risky situations.
PvP Runes
New Stat: PvP Accuracy is being added to PvP Runes.
Scaling: This stat will be available from Rune Level 1 up to Level 10. At Level 6, it was noted to provide around +200 PvP Accuracy.
Abyss Gear Buff
Set Bonus: Abyss gear sets are receiving a buff. The bonus will now scale in percentages based on how many pieces of the Abyss set you have equipped.
3. New Progression Systems
New Davonian Table (March)
A new type of crystal for the Davonian System is being added in March.
Crafting: It will use the same crafting system as the existing Ariel Crystals.
Significance: This new crystal will allow players to further increase their Gear Score and overall character power. The specific benefits (PvE, PvP, or both) have yet to be detailed.
4. Major Quality-of-Life (QoL) Improvements
Soulbind Rerolling (HUGE CHANGE)
The soulbind system is being significantly improved.
No More Same Stats: When rerolling soulbind stats, you will no longer be able to roll the same stat you started with.
Example: If you have MP, you will not be able to reroll into MP again. This prevents the frustrating cycle of wasting resources on identical stats.
Daily Dungeon Instant Clear Tickets
Feature: You can now purchase tickets to instantly clear daily dungeons.
Currency: These tickets are bought with Kina (in-game currency).
Limit: There will be a limited amount you can purchase per day.
Chat System Overhaul
Massive improvements are coming to the chat interface.
Features include timestamps, easier navigation, and a more user-friendly experience for replying to messages.
Piano in the City
A fun, non-combat feature is being added: a piano in the main city.
This is a reference to the original Aion, where players could jump on the piano and play music. It is purely for entertainment and social interaction.
5. Upcoming Coupons
Two new coupons are being released to celebrate the update and the game's milestone.
Welcome Back Coupon
Activation: Active after the next maintenance (Scheduled for Tuesday evening/Wednesday).
100 Days Celebration Coupon
Code: ION2DAYS100
Active Period: From February 25th to March 11th.
Reason: Celebrates 100 days since the release of ION 2 in Korea and Thailand.
6. Features in Development
The developers confirmed during the Q&A session that they are actively working on the following features. No release dates were given, but they are confirmed to be coming.
