Raven 2 Latent Traits Guide
Latent Traits in Raven 2 are one of the most powerful—but also most expensive—ways to increase your character’s stats. While the system looks simple on the surface, it is actually one of the most pay-to-win-leaning mechanics in the entire game, because the Trait Essences required for rolls are extremely rare unless you spend money. To do this, you'll need to stockpile large amounts of Raven 2 Crystal and other rare currencies!

This guide breaks down how the Latent Trait system works, the best strategy for rolling traits, which stats you should always max-roll, and how to avoid major mistakes that can permanently weaken your build.
What Are Latent Traits in Raven 2
Latent Traits are stat nodes you unlock and roll using essences. Each node can roll different values (1–6), with 6 being the highest roll. These rolls affect both:
• The stat on the node
• Your total ability score, which unlocks extra bonuses
The biggest milestone is 5a 5 ability score, which grants Weapon Attack +10—one of the strongest bonuses in the system. This should ALWAYS be your target.
Trait Essences – The Pay-to-Win Wall
Trait Essences come in multiple colors depending on the trait tree, but they are universally hard to obtain. In normal gameplay, they feel nearly impossible to farm at any reasonable rate.
You might get:
• 5 essences from the monthly check-in (Day 27)
• Very small amounts from rare events
• Or consistently from cash shop purchases
Players who buy pack bundles gain Mileage, which can be exchanged for essence chests, including a pack that guarantees 25 essences plus a selection box. But the real value is the pop-up pack that appears after your first 1–2 trait rolls. This is considered the most cost-efficient paid option—if you’re planning to spend.
Why Rolling Latent Traits Is Dangerous
Once you confirm a roll:
• You cannot undo it
• You cannot recover essences
• You are stuck with the value unless you reset the entire trait (which still refunds nothing)
Many players rush through their first tree and end up with low rolls, such as 1–3s, which permanently lowers their ability score potential. Do NOT confirm low rolls. Do NOT rush. Every roll matters in the late game.
The Correct Strategy – How to Reach 55 Ability Score Efficiently
You have 10 stat nodes in each trait path. To reach an ability score of 55, you need to carefully choose which nodes must roll 6, and which can settle for 5.
You can afford about 5 points of “slack”, meaning you can take five 5-rolls instead of sixes. Below is the optimal way to roll each stat:
Node 1 – Basic Attack Damage Amp
• ALWAYS roll a 6 (max)
• Don’t lock anything below 3%
Node 2 – Max HP
• Ideally roll a 6
• A 5 is possible, but not recommended if aiming for a perfect setup
Node 3 – Additional Attack vs Humans or Crit Res
• Priority: Crit Resistance
• Acceptable: 5 or 6 only
Node 4
• Roll a 6
• It’s harder here, so patience is required
Node 5
• Because of the 1% chance for a 6, you can take a 5 or 6
Node 6
• Roll a 6
• Higher odds here make it worthwhile to hold out
Node 7
• Best stat: Attack
• Acceptable: 5 or 6, since even 5 has low odds
Node 8
• Roll a 6 (2% chance)
Node 9 – Accuracy
• Accuracy is extremely important
• Recommended: Try for a 6, but accept a 5 if previous nodes rolled well
Node 10 – Final Damage Amp
• This is one of the most valuable stats
• Roll until you get Final Damage Amp with at least a 4–6, depending on earlier rolls
• Ideally, at least 5 or 6
Example of How Brutal RNG Can Be
Opening essences and rerolling nodes can feel like playing a slot machine. Packs worth $20+ can result in nothing valuable. In many tests and player experiences, it’s common to roll:
• Multiple 1s in a row
• The same stat repeatedly
• Zero progress after spending dozens of essences
This system is designed to be harsh—so saving essences and rolling carefully is essential.
Mastering Latent Traits is expensive, slow, and RNG-heavy—but with proper planning, you can avoid irreversible mistakes and maximize your character’s power.
