Torchlight: Infinite Season 13 Afterlight Starter Guide: 5 Best Builds for Fast Leveling and Endgame Transition

Summary

The new season is here, and choosing the right league starter can make or break your experience. With less prep time than usual and major changes to several heroes, picking a build that scales smoothly from the campaign to endgame is more important than ever, especially if you're looking to minimize the need for costly Torchlight: Infinite Boosting services to carry you through difficult progression walls. Here are the top five starter recommendations for Afterlife S13.

 Torchlight: Infinite

1. Bing-1: The Bombardier Returns

Bing has been a consistent league starter for multiple seasons, and the new changes make him look incredible. While the Spell Burst build I was practicing in June no longer works, Bing-1's rework opens up multiple viable options that all perform exceptionally well.

Best Skills for Bing-1

Bombard, Burning Shot, and Lightning Shot all look fantastic on this character. Bombard's tracking is particularly impressive: the mines follow enemies across the screen, making it clear and smooth and reliable. Burning Shot has tested with solid damage numbers and seems like one of the best DPS options. If you played Karino-2 Lightning Shot last season, you can take that exact build and put it on Bing for great results.

Why Choose Bing-1

The character offers flexibility to pick your preferred playstyle while maintaining strong performance. Bombard's auto-targeting range means you can throw mines from across the screen, and they'll still track to enemies, making gameplay feel smooth and responsive.

2. Rosa-2 and Rehan-2: The Frost Spike Duo

I'm grouping these two together because their early progression is nearly identical. Both lean heavily into Frost Spike, which offers excellent area-of-effect clear and enough damage to handle bosses.

Early Progression Strategy

Using Frost Spike, you'll clear maps quickly and stay zippy throughout the campaign. Both characters have been clocked at under three hours to complete the campaign using this skill. The clear speed is fantastic, and the damage output with minimal gear is impressive.

Mid-Game Considerations

Your transition into mana-stacking or life-stacking builds may be slightly slower due to key items being pushed to higher difficulty content. However, these characters pump out so much early damage on so little gear that they remain fantastic starting options. Rehan-2 reportedly has some craziness with new life-stack mechanics this season, making him a tempting choice.

3. Erika-1: The Untouchable Golden Child

Erika-1 simply cannot catch a nerf. This character has been amazing for seasons and continues to be an incredible league starter. If you're an Erika-1 enjoyer, you're in luck.

What Makes Her Strong

She's zippy, deals tons of damage, and has crazy multipliers. Her playstyle is fast-paced and rewarding. The icing on the cake? Thunder Slash got a 30% damage buff this season, making an already powerful skill even better.

Playing Around Her Weakness

Erika-1 is somewhat frail early on, but you can fix that with gear and proper investment later. Her movement speed mechanics allow her to scale damage through mobility, making her feel smooth and responsive.

Torchlight: Infinite

4. Thea-1 and Gemma-2: The Cold Damage Specialists

Blizzard looks incredibly strong this season, especially on Thea-1 and Gemma-2. These cold specialists offer different tradeoffs based on what you value most.

Building Blizzard

Blizzard is not a projectile skill, which avoids the inherent tax that projectile builds pay. This is one of its biggest draws. The best chest armor for this build is Stellar Vestment of Eminence, which is almost never used by other builds, so it remains cheap.

Thea-1 vs. Gemma-2

For maximum damage, play Blizzard on Thea-1. For a cozier experience with slightly less damage, run it on Gemma-2. The trees are nearly identical, with maybe a four-point difference in the Goddess of Knowledge tree.

Alternative Cold Skills

If Blizzard isn't your style, Iceland and Chromatic Shot both look amazing this season. Chromatic Shot has more scaling vectors available now that you can convert it to cold and scale Frostbite. Iceland also appears to be in a great spot.

5. Selena-2: The Insane New Addition

Selena-2 is the new hero releasing this season, and she looks absolutely broken. This is the most powerful character release in three or four seasons.

Why She's So Strong

Every single Terra skill looks functional and powerful on this character. Whether you go DoT-based, hit-based, or spell-based, everything works. The kit includes a free activation medium, spell burst synergies, and incredible sustain.

Playstyle Options

Selena-2 has two stances: Bard Form and Sing-along Form. In Bard Form, you can move while channeling skills, automatically guide your core skill while moving, and release bubbles that cast skills on enemy impact. In Sing-along Form, you lose some speed but gain massive tidal bonuses.

Recommended Skills

Thornfield, Tidewell, Fallen Star, and Stormfield all look amazing. Simply pick a Terra skill that appeals to you and start blasting. This is a character where you don't overthink it: pick a skill and have fun.

 Torchlight: Infinite

Final Thoughts

All five of these starters will carry you through the endgame with the right gear and investment. Bing-1 offers flexibility, Rosa-2 and Rehan-2 provide speed, Erika-1 delivers consistent power, cold specialists give you build diversity, and Selena-2 is simply broken. No matter which you choose, focus on having fun—a solid starter means you won't need to buy Torchlight: Infinite Boosting just to get past early hurdles. Remember to check your skill setups, follow proper progression paths, and adjust your build based on the gear you find.
