The upcoming season of Diablo IV introduces several new mechanics focused on fast-paced combat. After adding a new class in Season 11, Season 12 brings back a familiar feature from Diablo III.
The Killstreak system:
This mechanic rewards players for defeating enemies continuously within a short time window. Depending on your current streak total, you can reach five different tiers—Killstreak, Carnage, Devastation, Bloodbath, and Massacre—each representing higher momentum in combat. Every time you build or complete a streak, you gain bonus experience and seasonal reputation, and your performance can be further enhanced by new seasonal gear known as Bloodied Items, which provide bonuses that scale with your current killstreak tier and encourage aggressive, high-speed gameplay.
In addition to the killstreak mechanic, the season introduces several new activities and features. Players can temporarily transform into the Butcher, gaining powerful abilities during certain seasonal events such as Helltide encounters, PvP activities in the Fields of Hatred, or special Slaughterhouse-style dungeons. The season also adds Bloodied Sigils, which create more challenging dungeon modifiers—sometimes causing the Butcher(Even 2 Butchers) to relentlessly hunt you throughout the run—and several new Unique items designed to synergize with killstreak gameplay. Alongside these additions, a seasonal questline and progression system allow players to collect a resource called Fresh Meat and unlock various seasonal blessings. One question many players are already asking, however, is how the killstreak counting system works in multiplayer activities like Helltide—specifically whether nearby players can affect or interrupt an individual player’s streak progression. Let’s see what blizzard will bring us in this new season!
