Dune Awakening: How to Find the Best Equipment in Vermilious Gap

Dune Awakening Jun-11-2025 PST

In this guide, we'll break down a fast-paced gear run through the Vermilious Gap that focuses on obtaining unique weapons and schematics scattered across key locations like the Imperial Testing Stations, Flat Rock, Miners Watch, and more. This isn't a leisurely exploration — it's a speedrun-style circuit, designed to help you nab these rare items quickly and efficiently before the desert claims your life or your loot.

Dune Awakening: How to Find the Best Equipment in Vermilious Gap

Before You Begin: Essential Tools and Loadout

Before diving into the circuit, it's mission critical to equip yourself with the right tools:

Sugar Wire Claw: This is non-negotiable. Without it, you won't reach many of the elevated locations.

Suspensor Belts (preferably with upward propulsion arrows): Great for vertical movement.

Shield: You're not here to fight, but defense will help if you're caught off guard.

Battery & Spare Battery: Your gear draws power. Bring extra, just in case.

Bandages and Water: Especially important if you're rocking heavy armor, which consumes water rapidly. If you're using a stillsuit, your water needs are minimal.

Lastly, don't expect to engage in much combat. The whole point of this route is speed, stealth, and item collection, not XP grinding or NPC elimination.

Gear Run Circuit Overview

Here's the full route we'll be covering, all located within the Western and Eastern Vermilious Gap:

Imperial Testing Station

Flat Rock (Double Knob Rock)

Coils Cave

Miners Watch

Northwest Iron Works

The Wreck

The Anomaly

Hammer Rock (Central Big Rock)

Final Imperial Testing Station (#10)

1. Imperial Testing Station

Start your run near your base in Western Vermilious Gap. The Imperial Testing Station is a marked location—easy to spot and often visited for early missions.

How to Get the Loot:

Head straight to the main building.

Drop down the central shaft.

Navigate through the lower chambers.

You'll find a schematic chest in one of the labs.

Tip: This location may already be familiar to you due to mission progression, so don't linger. Grab the schematic and leave.

2. Flat Rock (a.k.a. Double Knob Rock)

Next, move eastward to an unusual rock formation nicknamed Double Knob Rock—it's the one with two rounded boulders on top.

How to Reach the Chest:

Use your sugar wire to zip to a ledge.

Activate the suspensors to jettison up.

The unique schematic is hidden at the top of this tricky climb.

This is one of the harder locations to reach due to verticality. It may take practice, but once you've done it once, it becomes routine.

3. Coils Cave

Drop down from Double Knob Rock and head to Coils Cave.

Tips for Navigation:

There are multiple entry points, so you might get lost. Stick to the rocky outcrops and watch for entrance markers.

You're only here for the chest, so ignore combat.

Once inside, stick to the right-hand wall and descend until you locate the item stash.

Warning: Don't take fall damage too lightly. You won't die from falling, but you'll be vulnerable and need to heal up quickly.

4. Miners Watch

A more straightforward run, head north to the Miners Watch.

Key Details:

Enemies here are tough. Don't engage unless necessary.

The chest is tucked away in a corner building.

Shields up, grab the loot, and get out.

5. Northwest Iron Works

From Miners Watch, make your way to the Northwest Iron Works.

Getting to the Top:

Disconnect your gear, then re-engage your sugar wire and suspensors for an epic vertical climb.

This climb can be glitchy, but persistence pays off.

Once on top, be careful—mines and explosives can incapacitate you instantly.

This area is worth the trouble, as the loot here is often unique and potent.

6. The Wreck

One of the most dangerous locations, the Wreck requires caution. Players frequently ambush here.

Strategy:

Take a cautious route around enemy hotspots.

Stick to the high ground and avoid unnecessary combat.

Make a beeline for the chest, usually located in the back of the derelict structure.

Don't stay too long. Loot and leave.

7. The Anomaly

Travel further east to the toxic zone known as The Anomaly.

Toxic Tips:

You'll need to move fast—the air will eat you alive if you linger.

Use suspensors and sugar wire to leap past toxic pools.

The chest is located in a tight alley up high.

If the chest is empty, it's likely been looted recently. The respawn timer can vary.

8. Hammer Rock (Middle Big Rock)

Next stop: Hammer Rock, a giant structure in the middle of the map.

Scaling the Beast:

Use a series of jumps and suspensor lifts.

The climb is tedious and tricky, but there's often top-tier loot at the peak.

Hammer Rock has multiple enemies, including elite patrols, so don't get caught unaware.

9. Imperial Testing Station #10

The final stop on our circuit is Imperial Testing Station #10—a lesser-known outpost far to the east.

Wrap-Up:

Enter quickly and move through the ruins.

The schematic or chest is usually found near the collapsed corridor or broken data terminal.

This location tends to be quiet, making it a good place to end your run and evaluate your haul.

General Advice for Route Efficiency

Use a Bike: While not required, a fast bike can reduce travel time significantly between locations.

Map Familiarity: Knowing the terrain makes a huge difference. Use cliffs and canyons to avoid confrontations.

Avoid Combat: The objective is speed and loot, not fighting. Engaging slows you down and risks death.

Inventory Space: Make sure you've got plenty of room before starting the circuit.

Server Population: Run this route during off-peak hours for the best chance at untouched loot.

Why These Locations Matter

Each of these locations contains unique schematics and gear that can't be easily found elsewhere. Whether it's a rare rifle with an armor-piercing perk, a suspensor upgrade that grants extra lift, or a piece of armor that regenerates shield faster, this gear gives you a massive edge in both PvE and PvP.

The Vermilious Gap holds some of the most rewarding loot in Dune: Awakening, but only for those bold enough to chase it. With this gear run, you can skip the slow grind and go straight for the power—if you're willing to move fast, climb hard, and brave the hostile terrain.
