Dune Awakening: Complete Guide to the Advanced Trooper Quest
Once you've unlocked your class's skill tree in Dune: Awakening, you'll notice a new layer of progression: advanced trainers scattered across Arrakis. These specialized NPCs unlock higher-level contracts and skills, letting you push your build to new limits. One of the most powerful advanced paths belongs to the Trooper - a ranged combat specialist who excels at precision, power, and adaptability.
This guide covers every step of the Advanced Trooper Quest, from finding the right trainer to completing every objective. Follow along carefully, and you'll have access to Kara's advanced training in no time.
Unlocking the Trooper Skill Tree
Before you can start the advanced version of the quest, you'll need to have already unlocked the basic Trooper skill tree. Head to Griffin's Reach and talk to the Trooper trainer there. Once you've unlocked the tree, you'll be ready to begin your advanced training.
Finding the Advanced Trooper Trainer
Your next destination is Arrakeen, one of the central hubs of Arrakis. The Advanced Trooper Trainer, named Kara, can be found on the second floor of Arrakeen. Look for her standing in front of a set of engraved double doors, illuminated by a floating suspensor light overhead.
Speak with Kara to begin the quest. Be prepared for a lengthy dialogue sequence - she won't be easily convinced to take you on as a student. Keep choosing responses that encourage her to continue talking. Eventually, she'll relent and hand you your first contract, marking the start of your advanced Trooper journey.
Step 1: Finding the Transmitters
Your first objective is to recover transmitters for Kara - an errand that seems simple enough, though it quickly grows dangerous. She'll mark a location on your map: The Sweep, a notorious slaver base just north of the Eastern Vermillius Gap.
Make sure you're well-equipped before heading out. The base is heavily fortified and full of enemies. Having a Holtzman Shield at this point can make the difference between success and failure, so research and fabricate one if you haven't already.
When you reach The Sweep, fight your way through the base and climb to the top floor. Look for a lamp-lit table with an open book on it - reading this book provides valuable intel about the transmitters. Then, eliminate enemies throughout the base until you find two transmitters among their loot drops.
Once you've secured both, return to Kara in Arrakeen.
Step 2: Returning to Kara
Deliver the transmitters to Kara. Unfortunately, you'll quickly discover they're malfunctioning - they don't work as intended. She'll direct you to find someone who can help her acquire functional transmitters: a contact named Tuco.
This part of the quest will require multiple trips between Arrakeen and other locations, so make sure you have either:
An ornithopter of your own for quick travel, or
Plenty of Dune Awakening Solari to cover travel expenses. And Dune Awakening Items are also important during travel.
Step 3: Finding Tuco in Harko Village
Kara explains that Tuco may be found in Harko Village. However, he's elusive, and if he doesn't show up, she suggests talking to the bartender at Hannivar's, who might know his whereabouts.
Before you leave, Kara will give you a passphrase to use when speaking to the bartender. Don't forget it - it's essential to unlocking the next dialogue option.
Travel to Harko Village, follow your map marker to the town square, and wait briefly. Tuco won't appear. Your next stop: Hannivar's, a bar located in the same village.
Step 4: The Hannivar's Ledger
Enter Hannivar's and talk to Anoushka, the dark-haired woman behind the bar. Use Kara's passphrase during the conversation to trigger the next step. Anoushka will tell you that Tuco's coordinates can be found in a ledger located in the back room.
Head to the marked location, read the ledger, and collect the data.
Before you leave Harko Village, it's worth noting that the Advanced Swordmaster Trainer is nearby - specifically, behind Hannivar's in a back alley. If you plan to explore another class later, this is a great time to start that quest, too.
Return to Anoushka after reading the ledger, and she'll mark Tuco's stash location on your map.
Step 5: Tracking Down Tuco's Stash
Tuco's stash is hidden on the west side of Jabal Eifrit. Before you set out, fabricate a Vehicle Resource Scanner or Handheld Resource Scanner - one of these tools will be necessary to locate the stash.
When you arrive, you'll discover that both Tuco and his stash are missing. Activate your Resource Scanner and scan the area. This will reveal a trail of footprints leading toward the Hagga Rift, along with a new quest marker.
Step 6: Searching the Hagga Rift
Finding Tuco in the Hagga Rift is the trickiest part of the entire quest. The quest marker can be misleading, so instead of following it directly, head to CHOAM Mineral Extraction Facility #6. If it's not already revealed, use a Survey Probe to locate it.
Once inside, defeat the enemies guarding the facility. Ahead lies a radiation zone - equip your Holtzman Shield or a radiation suit to survive. If you don't have either, move quickly to avoid prolonged exposure.
Deeper inside, you'll come across a crashed sandbike and the hanging body of Tuco. Interact with the body to collect the final evidence and complete this segment of the quest.
Step 7: Return to Kara
With Tuco's fate discovered, return to Kara in Arrakeen one last time. Hand over the evidence and complete your report. She'll finally acknowledge your effort and grant you access to the Advanced Trooper training, unlocking new contracts that provide more skills and power.
Rewards and What's Next
Completing the Advanced Trooper Quest unlocks the second tier of Trooper abilities, significantly enhancing your ranged combat potential. Kara will now offer additional contracts that help refine your playstyle - from improving your accuracy to increasing your damage output in large-scale battles.
