Team Fortress 2 (TF2) is a multiplayer first-person shooter developed and published by Valve Corporation. Released in October 2007 as part of The Orange Box for Windows and Xbox 360, it later became available for PlayStation 3, macOS, and Linux. In June 2011, TF2 transitioned to a free-to-play model, monetized through microtransactions for in-game cosmetics.
In TF2, players select one of two teams—RED or BLU—and choose from nine distinct character classes. The game offers various modes, including capture the flag and king of the hill. Its unique cartoon-like visual style draws inspiration from artists such as J.C. Leyendecker, Dean Cornwell, and Norman Rockwell.
Despite its age, TF2 remains popular and continues to receive updates. In October 2024, Valve addressed a longstanding issue by correcting the BLU Scout's pants color, aligning it with the team's color scheme.
Additionally, in December 2024, Valve released a new comic titled "The Days Have Worn Away," honoring Rick May, the voice actor for the Soldier, who passed away in 2020.
TF2's enduring appeal lies in its distinctive art direction, engaging gameplay, humor, and rich character development, solidifying its status as a classic in the gaming community.
