CFB 27 Support Staff Guide: Stop Wasting Dynasty Points and Build a Powerhouse

College Football 26 Jul-11-2026 PST

Summary

Support Staff is one of the most complex systems in College Football 27 Dynasty Mode, and mastering it can save you from wasting valuable Dynasty Points that could otherwise be spent on College Football 27 Coins or player upgrades. This guide breaks down every ability, explains the math behind them, and provides strategies for schools of all sizes—from one-star rebuilds to five-star powerhouses.

What is Support Staff?

Support Staff is a new layer in Dynasty Mode introduced with the Dynasty Blueprint system. Depending on your school's available Dynasty Points, you can hire up to five support staff members during the preseason. These staff members provide bonuses across five areas:

Offseason Progression Increase – Boosts player development

Recruiting Hours – Gives more time to spend on recruits

NIL Expectation Reduction – Lowers what players demand in NIL

Fundraising Department – Increases Dynasty Points earned at year-end

Support Staff Discounts – Reduces the cost of other staff abilities

Each ability comes in four tiers: Bronze, Silver, Gold, and Platinum. Higher tiers cost more but provide stronger bonuses.

The Financial Foundation

Dynasty Points

Dynasty Points are your annual budget, refreshing at the End of Season Recap. Unused points do NOT carry over. Schools like Michigan start with over 6,500 available Dynasty Points, while Oregon begins with only 2,900. This difference dramatically impacts what you can afford.

Support Staff vs. Equipment

Critical Warning: Equipment purchases are non-refundable. Once purchased, you cannot get those points back. Support Staff, however, can be removed until you advance to the regular season. Once the season begins, support staff is locked in for the entire year.

Ability Breakdown

Offseason Progression Increase

This ability boosts player development during the offseason. It's straightforward—you get a percentage increase with no complicated math. Progression has been slightly toned down this year, but commissioners can adjust XP per position in settings.

Recruiting Hours Increase

This ability gives you extra recruiting hours. More hours means more time to invest in prospects.

The Hidden Catch: More hours doesn't always benefit you. Because players now come with NIL price tags, hoarding talent is not recommended. Extra hours allow you to spread your net wider, but if you don't have the NIL budget to land those recruits, the hours are wasted.

When It Works Well: You're a powerhouse with ample NIL budget, you need to spread your net in a competitive online league, or you have Elite Recruiter abilities.

When It Doesn't: You have limited NIL budget or you're a small school where every Dynasty Point counts.

NIL Expectation Reduction

This ability reduces the NIL cost for both recruits and current roster players.

The Break-Even Math: Platinum NIL Reduction costs 1,500 Dynasty Points and provides 30% reduction. To break even, you need to spend at least 5,000 Dynasty Points in NIL per year. Many schools spend only 3,000.

The Combo That Changes Everything: When paired with Support Staff Discount, the math flips. With Platinum Support Staff Discount (50% off), NIL Reduction costs only 750 points. The new break-even becomes 2,500 points—much more achievable. For four- and five-star schools, this becomes incredibly valuable.

Small Schools Warning: At Bronze tier (15% reduction), you still need to spend roughly 1,500 points per year to break even. Most one- and two-star schools don't spend that much.

Support Staff Discounts

This ability reduces the cost of your other support staff purchases. The math here makes or breaks high-end Dynasty builds.

The Order Matters: Support Staff Discount should almost always be your third purchase. If you buy it first at Platinum (1,000 points) and then buy two other Platinum abilities (1,500 each), you get 50% off both—saving 1,500 points. Net cost: you spend 1,000 and save 1,500, making you net positive.

Buy it second instead, and the savings might not cover the cost. Test your combination before committing—the game shows you the refunded amount when you preview.

The Scaling Effect: Support Staff Discount becomes more valuable the more abilities you buy. With three Platinum abilities, Gold Discount (40%) can sometimes be better than Platinum. With four or more, Platinum pulls ahead. For small schools, this ability rarely makes sense.

Fundraising Department (Dynasty Points Increase)

This ability is best understood as a bond. You spend Dynasty Points in the preseason, and at the End of Season Recap, you receive more points back.

Platinum costs 1,250 and returns 1,700—a net gain of 450 points. But you don't receive these points until the end of the season. You're moving money from this year's budget to next year's.

When It Shines: For Transfer Portal Strategy—if you know you'll be aggressive in the portal, this is like a savings account. For Facility Upgrades—planning a facility upgrade that costs 1,500? Buy the bond in the preseason, collect the payout at year-end, and the facility upgrade becomes much cheaper. For Year One—almost every team should consider this in year one.

When to Avoid: You have minimal year-end spending, you're a small school where 150 points is significant, or you aren't confident you'll use the points when they arrive.

Strategic Approaches by School Size

One- and Two-Star Schools

Your budget is limited (often under 1,000 Dynasty Points). Support Staff is a luxury, not a necessity. Buy one-off Bronze abilities that address immediate needs. Do NOT pursue Support Staff Discount. Consider Bronze Recruiting Hours or Bronze Offseason Progression. Avoid NIL Reduction and Dynasty Points Increase.

The Three-Star Market: Your best recruiting strategy is three-star recruits. Look for three-star gems with low or zero NIL expectations.

Three-Star Schools

You have more flexibility with around 1,500-3,000 Dynasty Points. Dabble with Silver abilities. Support Staff Discount becomes viable once you have three abilities. Consider NIL Reduction if your annual NIL spend exceeds 2,500. Test combinations before buying.

Four- and Five-Star Schools

Build Platinum combinations across three or four abilities. Prioritize NIL Reduction with Support Staff Discount—this is the key to long-term roster building. Consider Dynasty Points Increase as a luxury when you have excess points. Remember: Support Staff refunds annually.

Example Build: Michigan (Powerhouse)

Michigan starts with over 6,500 available Dynasty Points.

Recommended Platinum Build:

NIL Expectation Reduction (Platinum) – 1,500 points

Offseason Progression Increase (Platinum) – 1,500 points

Support Staff Discount (Platinum) – 1,000 points

Recruiting Hours (Gold) – 750 points

The Math: With Support Staff Discount active, NIL Reduction costs 750 points, Offseason Progression costs 750 points, Support Staff costs 1,000 points, and Recruiting Hours costs 375. Total: under 2,900 points for massive bonuses.

The Long-Term Impact: With NIL Reduction Platinum, you're saving 30% on roster costs. A 12,000-point roster feels more like a 9,000-point cost.

Example Build: Small School

A mid-tier program with weak pipelines and only 2,400 Dynasty Points.

Recommended Approach:

Check Roster NIL first

Bronze Recruiting Hours – 150 points

Bronze Offseason Progression – 150 points

Avoid: Support Staff Discount, NIL Reduction, Dynasty Points Increase. Use the points for scouting three-star gems instead.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Buying Equipment by Mistake: Equipment is non-refundable. If your team starts with pre-bought equipment, DON'T delete it—you've already paid for it.

Buying Support Staff Discount First: It's wasted with only one or two other abilities. Purchase it third or later.

Ignoring Your NIL Budget: Extra recruiting hours mean nothing if you can't afford to sign the players.

Going Platinum Without Support Staff: Full price abilities are often inefficient. Consider Gold or Silver.

Buying Bronze NIL Reduction at a Small School: You likely don't spend enough NIL to break even.

Final Thoughts

Support Staff is a luxury, not a necessity. One- and two-star schools should focus on one-off Bronze abilities. Four- and five-star schools can build sophisticated combinations, especially pairing NIL Reduction with Support Staff Discount.

The best long-term strategy for powerhouses: NIL Reduction Platinum plus Support Staff Discount. This combination makes your roster 30% cheaper year-over-year.

For everyone else: understand your break-even points, preview your combinations before committing, and always think about whether the ability actually helps your specific situation.
