Summary:
The Elder Scrolls Online Week 4 PTS update brings major Transmute Crystal improvements, class balance tweaks, solo dungeon changes, new Crest rewards, The Elder Scrolls Online Gold, and long-awaited bug fixes across several dungeons and activities.
ESO Week 4 PTS Update: What’s New?
The fourth week of The Elder Scrolls Online PTS brings another round of adjustments ahead of the upcoming live release. While many of the major class changes were already discussed in previous testing, this patch includes several important additions involving Undaunted Pledges, Transmute Crystals, solo dungeons, rewards, and dungeon mechanics.
With Week 5 expected to be the final round of PTS changes, players now have a clearer picture of what the next major ESO update could look like.
Undaunted Pledges Get a Huge Transmute Crystal Buff
One of the most noticeable changes is the improvement to Undaunted Pledge Transmute Crystal rewards. Previously, DLC pledges could provide a relatively small number of crystals, with players frequently receiving only two.
The new system is considerably more generous:
Normal DLC Pledge: 5 Transmute Crystals
Veteran DLC Pledge: 10 Transmute Crystals
Veteran Hard Mode: 15 Transmute Crystals
This should make Undaunted activities much more attractive for players who regularly need Transmute Crystals to reconstruct or modify equipment.
There is one important warning, however. The crystals are awarded directly rather than through Transmute Geodes. If your Transmute Crystal storage is already full, you could potentially lose the reward. Players should therefore make sure they have enough storage space before claiming their Pledge rewards.
Magicka Nightblade Gets an Interesting Damage Option
Combat changes also continue to shape the upcoming ESO meta. The Nightblade receives an important improvement to Swallow Soul, giving Magicka Nightblade players another potentially competitive spammable ability.
After the buff, Swallow Soul can approach the maximum damage of Concealed Weapon on its own. However, the choice becomes even more interesting when using the Soulcleaver set.
Without Soulcleaver, Concealed Weapon is expected to remain the stronger option. With Soulcleaver equipped, however, Swallow Soul can potentially surpass it.
This creates a more meaningful choice between the two skills rather than simply giving Nightblade players one universally superior ability.
Sorcerer Changes Could Improve PvE Performance
Sorcerer is another class receiving notable adjustments. One of the biggest questions during testing was whether the changes to Static Reverberation would ultimately be a buff or nerf.
Early PTS testing suggests that Static Reverberation can perform very well in PvE. One reported parse showed approximately 21K damage, although the build was also using Crystal Weapon, which creates additional opportunities for Static Reverberation to trigger.
The exact results will depend heavily on the build and situation. Static Reverberation now triggers from Sorcerer damage specifically rather than any source of damage, meaning certain setups will benefit more than others.
Crystal Weapon also appears to be an increasingly attractive morph, although Crystal Fragments may still have advantages depending on the player's build.
Solo Dungeon Misfortune Mechanic Reworked
The new solo dungeons are receiving an important accessibility adjustment. Previously, the Pulled Punches Misfortune reduced Light and Heavy Attack damage to zero.
This created a major problem for Heavy Attack builds, effectively preventing them from taking the Misfortune. It could also interfere with Light Attack-based builds and sets that required actual Light Attack damage to trigger.
The new version instead reduces all player damage by 30%.
While this is still a significant penalty, it means virtually every build can now participate in the mechanic. Heavy Attack builds are no longer completely excluded, making the solo dungeon system more flexible.
Solo Dungeon Crests and Rewards Improved
Solo dungeons are also getting a new reward system based around Crests. The amount earned from the easiest difficulty has been increased dramatically, from 10 Crests to 50.
A new Crest Merchant allows players to exchange these currencies for various rewards, with some item costs being increased while others have been reduced.
The system may not immediately encourage players to repeatedly farm the same two solo dungeons. However, as more solo dungeons are added over time, players should naturally accumulate more Crests and have more opportunities to spend them.
This could become a useful long-term progression system.
Major Dungeon Bugs Finally Fixed
Week 4 also contains a large collection of bug fixes affecting older ESO content.
In Stone Garden, an issue that allowed Blood Rage to persist after players moved to another dungeon instance has been fixed.
The Leplusa achievement has also received an important correction. Previously, only one player could receive the achievement at a time. The requirement has now been properly updated so that player resources must be reduced to 30% or less, rather than the previously stated 25%.
This should make the achievement considerably less frustrating for organized groups.
Other fixes address health and resource synchronization issues with B'ahsei in Rockgrove and the visual safe-zone problem during Lady Thorn's bat swarm in Castle Thorn.
Lady Thorn Gets a Helpful Recovery Mechanic
The Castle Thorn change is especially useful for groups. Players who are resurrecting an ally inside the dangerous bat swarm area will now receive damage immunity while performing the resurrection.
This does not make the mechanic easier for groups attempting a flawless trifecta, since a death already prevents that achievement. However, it can make normal Veteran and Hard Mode clears much more forgiving.
Groups now have a better chance to recover after someone dies during the final phase instead of simply abandoning the attempt.
High Isle and Nowhere Vault Rewards Updated
The update also includes several changes to High Isle and Nowhere Vault rewards.
Different chests will now offer more clearly defined rewards, including overland set pieces, tradable Antiquity Leads, trial item set pieces, and valuable crafting materials.
The goal appears to be making these chests feel more rewarding and worthwhile. Whether the new reward structure becomes a meaningful source of valuable items will ultimately depend on the final loot tables and live-server drop rates.
ESO PTS Week 5 Will Be the Final Testing Phase
Overall, Week 4 is less about dramatic system overhauls and more about refining the upcoming update. The biggest highlights are the substantial Transmute Crystal improvements, Nightblade and Sorcerer combat adjustments, the redesigned solo dungeon penalty, improved Crest rewards, buy The Elder Scrolls Online Gold, and numerous long-standing dungeon bug fixes.
Week 5 is expected to be the final PTS testing week, after which players will have roughly four weeks to wait before the changes arrive on live servers.
For ESO players, the next few weeks should be particularly interesting as the community continues testing these systems and determining how the final changes will affect PvE builds, dungeon farming, and the overall endgame meta.
