MLB The Show 26 June Ultimate Update Guide: Final Sprint Before the All-Star Break – These Cards Are Must-Haves!
Welcome back to the diamond, fellow managers! Today we’re breaking down the last major patch before the All-Star content drop – the final June SPA Light season recap. This update isn’t just about the Fourth of July freebies; it also packs some seriously underrated cards that deserve a spot in your rotation. Whether you're looking to buy MLB The Show 26 Stubs to bolster your squad or save them for the upcoming All-Star promo, this is the time to plan your spending. With the All-Star Weekend right around the corner, consider this your “crunch-time” study guide. Let’s dive in!
1. Holiday Freebies & June Paid Packs: Who’s Worth the Stubs?
Before we get into the numbers, don’t forget – U.S. Independence Day (July 4th) brings a free equipment bundle in the shop, including bat skins and socks. Free loot is free loot, so grab it while you can.
Now, the main course: the June paid card pack. This round features three big headliners, each with a distinct profile:
· Seiya Suzuki (RF / LF): With 73 speed and solid defensive stats, he’s more than serviceable in the outfield. This card is a classic lefty killer – he feasts on left-handed pitching but struggles a bit against righties. That said, his swing timing feels smooth. Give him a shot if you enjoy contact hitting with some pop.
· Jerry Peña (SS): Great glove and speed numbers, but 67 arm strength is a red flag for a shortstop. You’ll notice it on backhand throws – expect a few “muffins” across the diamond. The swing model isn’t elite but it’s passable. Best used in midline defensive shifts where his range can shine without relying too much on the cannon.
· Ranger Flori (SP): Features a sinker/cutter mix with decent pitch variety. However, his control rating and break stats are oddly mismatched – high overall control, but the cutter’s break is underwhelming. This one feels like a “stats lie” candidate, so proceed with caution until you test his release in-game.
2. Mid-Tier & Small Wheel Gems: Don’t Sleep on These Underdogs
The middle rounds offer some budget-friendly steals, especially if you need roster depth:
· Left Fielder (better as 1B): His defensive numbers look rough for the outfield, but his arm strength is surprisingly good, and the swing model is decent. The market is already flooded with lefty power bats at first base, so treat this card as a platoon option rather than a starter.
· Left-Handed SP (with Sweeper): This one’s a sleeper. The Sweeper has massive break and, despite a lower overall rating, his pitch mix plays up in live environments. Left-handed starters are scarce in this meta – if you pull him, give him a few starts before deciding.
· Closer Cope Lets: Eye-popping attributes – 125 H/9 mean the opponent’s PCI shrinks to a pinprick. But his pitch selection is mediocre. He’s a “god-tier on paper, average in hand” type, best used to overpower less experienced hitters.
· In the small wheel, a super-utility bat covers 7 positions, but his speed is below par. He’s better anchored at first or third base. His reaction time helps mask the slow footspeed, but don’t expect him to chase down gappers – he’s a “fill-the-hole” tactical piece, not an everyday starter.
3. The Main Event: Program Grind Strategy & F2P Route
The June Program is the star of this update, and good news–the total XP requirement has been lowered to 20,000 PxP for all rewards. But the mission structure is slightly different from previous months, so here’s the optimal path:
Mission Breakdown & Speedrun Tips
· 6 Mission objectives (180 pts total): You only need to complete 5 out of 6. Skip the “2,500 XP” mission – it overlaps perfectly with the “Drive For” XP line, so you’ll naturally finish it while grinding other tasks.
· 30 hits with infielders: Infielder includes all 5 positions (including catcher). This is a breeze – a few Conquest games on Rookie/Veteran will knock it out.
· 50 total bases with outfielders: A bit more time-consuming but still manageable. Load up your outfield with power bats and play on Veteran – extra-base hits add up fast.
· 18 innings with any pitcher + 24 strikeouts with starters: This is the only real hurdle. Stick with starting pitchers for all innings – don’t bring in relievers. On Veteran difficulty, you’ll average about 18 K’s per 9 innings, so roughly 4 full Conquest games will clear the K mission. After that, fill the remaining innings with whoever you like.
· Moments: Since the other missions already cover most of the XP, only grind Moments if you’re in a hurry. If you want to speedrun, farm the 4-point repeatable Moments for quick bursts.
Is the Final Reward Worth It?
The free track’s final prize is a 98-overall CF – PCA. He outshines the other CF reward (CJ Morris) in speed, arm, and fielding, though his contact is slightly lower. 98 overall is absolutely viable in the current outfield meta – for no-money-spenders, this is a defensive anchor you don’t want to miss. The paid track includes DBS Swanson (great SS swing, but arm is a tad weak) – chase it only if your stub bank allows.
4. Offline & Online Modes: Hidden Bonuses You Might Have Missed
· Showdown & Milestone Card: A free Milestone card (Sunny Gray) is up for grabs – this is a rare card type that saves you big stubs on the market. Don’t skip the Showdown guide; it’s an easy W.
· Conquest Map (Dog Days of Summer): The reward is Maddux – a finesse pitcher with elite control (92) and 94+ break across the board. He’s a “high-rank warrior” – slow velo means he gets crushed in lower divisions, but in the hands of a skilled player who dots corners, he’s a surgical weapon.
· Online Event: The current Event is “Dog Days of Summer,” restricted to Summer Series, SPLIGHT, TN, and Live Series cards. Runs until July 7th – games are 3-inning affairs at Petco Park. This is your final PvP tune-up before the All-Star content drops, so get your reps in.
5. What’s Next & Double XP Reminder
Key dates to mark:
· Now until July 7th, 3:00 AM (EST): Double XP Weekend is live. Whether you’re grinding the Season Pass or farming PxP for evolutions, this is the time to go all-in.
· July 9th (Friday): All-Star Mega-Update. Expect separate AL/NL All-Star Programs, new Collections, Conquest maps, and a Mini-Season. Also, the 5th Inning and Final Classic events will drop alongside.
· One last thought: Team Affinity content has been strangely quiet this year – only the initial batch dropped, with no follow-ups. Hopefully, the All-Star patch brings new TA stages, but for now, keep your expectations flexible. And if you're short on currency to chase those collection rewards, remember there are always MLB 26 Stubs for sale from various sources – just be mindful of where you buy. That wraps up this June update deep-dive. Use the Double XP weekend to lock down PCA and Maddux – your All-Star roster will thank you. See you on the diamond!
