New World PvP Build Guide: Greatsword and Greataxe Domination

Mar-03-2025 PST New World

Hello everyone! Today, I'll be breaking down a powerful PvP build in New World that helped me take on an epic 1v4 fight. This build focuses on high damage output, sustain, and mobility with a greatsword and a greataxe. Additionally, for those looking to enhance their gameplay, you might want to consider ways to buy New World Coins, which can help you acquire essential gear and upgrades. Along the way, I'll also share some highlights, including how I used terrain to my advantage, the importance of sustain in combat, and gear choices like the Blooddrinker Earring and the Artifact Earring of Justice. Let's get started!

New World PvP Build Guide: Greatsword and Greataxe Domination

Gameplay Highlights: 1v4 and 1v2 Battles

1v4 Battle Breakdown

In one of my recent fights, I got caught deep in the enemy backline alongside a summoned Brute. The Brute and I rampaged through opponents, but as I started losing health, I had to disengage. I jumped off a bridge, and four enemies followed me down.

Using my build’s sustain and AoE capabilities, I managed to outplay and eliminate all four enemies, securing an incredible 1v4 victory!

1v2 Battle Breakdown

In another moment, I faced a Healer and DPS duo. I managed to block the Healer into a corner while the DPS struggled to assist. With my high burst damage and well-timed abilities, I took them both down, proving this build’s effectiveness against coordinated teams.

Build Overview

Attributes

This build balances damage, sustain, and mobility. The attribute distribution is:

· 300 Strength – High burst damage for melee combat.

· 150 Constitution – Enough survivability for extended fights.

· If you prefer a tankier approach, you can push 300 Constitution while sacrificing some Strength.

Weapon Choices

1. Greatsword – Provides mobility, stagger, and cooldown refreshes.

2. Greataxe – Superior for pulling enemies in and sustaining through lifesteal.

3. If you can’t get the Serenity Greatsword, a viable alternative is any Greatsword with Trenchant Strikes and decent perks.

Gear & Perks

· Earrings:

· Blood Drinker – Helps in solo fights with strong life leech.

· Justice (Artifact Earring) – A great alternative for extra sustain and mitigation.

· Armor: Prioritize perks like Refreshing, Resilient, and Freedom.

· Weapons: Look for Trenchant Strikes, Keenly Empowered, and Refreshing Move.

Skill Trees

Greatsword – Focus on mobility and stagger

· Relentless Rush – High burst damage and movement utility.

· Skyward Slash – Applies debuffs and stagger.

· Calamity Counter – Great defensive tool for 1vX situations.

Greataxe – Ideal for sustain and AoE control

· Reap – Pulls enemies in for easy combos.

· Charge – Great for repositioning.

· Gravity Well – Disrupts groups and sets up burst combos.

Farming the Best Gear

To maximize this build’s potential, farm OPR caches for high-tier weapons. It took me about 40 Outpost Rush caches to get my 700 GS Greataxe, which played a key role in my 1v4 win streaks.

If you can’t find the Serenity Greatsword, use a non-artifact Greataxe instead – it still performs exceptionally well.

Final Thoughts

This build is an absolute powerhouse in PvP, offering a mix of burst damage, sustain, and mobility. Whether you’re soloing or playing in a team, you can dominate fights with the right positioning and execution.
