Path of Exile 2 is filled with intriguing points of interest (POIs) scattered across its campaign maps. These POIs often provide both challenges and rewards, and completionists aim to clear them all in pursuit of that satisfying 100% map completion. One of these POIs is Roving Wisps, located in Kriar Village during the Interlude section of the campaign.

At first glance, the description for this POI seems straightforward: "Follow the Wisps." However, players quickly discover that things are not as simple as they seem. Even after following the instructions, defeating infused monsters, and clearing the area, the Roving Wisps POI marker does not disappear. This leaves many wondering: is it bugged, unfinished, or working as intended? Let's break it down.
What Are Roving Wisps in Path of Exile 2
Roving Wisps represent an encounter with Azmeri Wisps, which are ethereal lights that appear randomly across Kriar Village. These wisps float and weave through the environment, luring players to follow them. The mechanic is simple:
Each wisp leads the player to a rare monster.
Once the wisp fuses with the monster, it powers it up with additional stats and abilities.
Defeating the infused monster grants loot, making the chase worthwhile.
The Roving Wisps POI guarantees that three Azmeri Wisps are present in Kriar Village. For players who enjoy side activities or farming rare loot, this makes the POI a welcome distraction from the main storyline.
Why Doesn't the POI Mark as Complete
The frustration begins when players finish defeating all three infused monsters, only to find that the Roving Wisps marker on the world map remains active. Unlike other POIs, it does not gray out or disappear once cleared.
This is because Roving Wisps is currently bugged in Path of Exile 2. While the internal game logic correctly tracks your progress, meaning the wisps will not reappear once dealt with, the visual map indicator does not update.
For completionists, this can feel like a roadblock. You might scour every inch of Kriar Village, convinced you missed a hidden wisp. In reality, you've completed the objective, but the game simply fails to reflect it.
Is This a Serious Problem
Fortunately, this issue is more of an annoyance than a major gameplay flaw. Since the internal completion is recorded, your efforts are not wasted. Once you defeat the three infused monsters, they are gone for good. You just won't get the satisfaction of seeing the POI marked off visually on your map.
The developers at Grinding Gear Games are likely aware of this issue, as completion tracking is a critical feature for many players. Given Path of Exile's history of post-launch patches and quality-of-life updates, it's reasonable to expect a fix in future patches.
