Summary
The Depleted Mana Rune is one of Path of Exile 2's most intriguing endgame quest items, offering a powerful unique wand to players who can meet its demanding requirements. Dropped by Uhtred, the Stardrinker in Expedition content, this rare item must be transformed by spending 10,000 Mana before it can be exchanged for Runeseeker's Call—a unique Runic Fork with 5 sockets and 200% increased effect of socketed Runes. For players looking to optimize their endgame gear and acquire the necessary resources, POE2 Currency plays a vital role in securing this powerful weapon through trade.
What Is the Depleted Mana Rune?
The Depleted Mana Rune is a quest item introduced in the Runes of Aldur league. Its flavor text reads: "The rune hungers, an empty chasm..."—a fitting description for an item that demands an enormous sacrifice of mana to unlock its true potential.
The item drops from Uhtred, the Stardrinker, a boss encountered during the Grand Expedition endgame questline. Uhtred is located in Secluded Temple maps, which can be found in Ocean biomes. To guarantee an encounter, players should have Uhtred's Saga active in their inventory before revealing a biome with an Expedition Logbook.
Important note: The Depleted Mana Rune can only be acquired once per character. Losing or discarding the item may permanently prevent that character from obtaining Runeseeker's Call through the questline.
How to Transform the Depleted Mana Rune
Transforming the Depleted Mana Rune requires reaching a massive mana threshold: 10,000 total Mana. This is one of the most demanding stat requirements in the game and typically requires significant build investment.
Key transformation details:
Overflowed Mana counts toward the 10,000 requirement. Sources like Sacrifice of Mind or Mana Remnants can help reach this threshold.
Once you have at least 10,000 Mana, right-click the Depleted Mana Rune in your inventory.
The item transforms into an Infused Mana Rune, arcane energy churning wildly within it.
How to Obtain Runeseeker's Call
After transforming the Depleted Mana Rune into its infused form, take it to Farrow, an NPC located next to Dannig in Kingsmarch during Act 4. Farrow will exchange the Infused Mana Rune for Runeseeker's Call, a unique Runic Fork wand.
Runeseeker's Call Stats and Modifiers
The Runeseeker's Call is a Level 65 wand requiring 114 Intelligence. Its key modifiers include 5 Augment Sockets that are hidden, along with 200% increased effect of socketed Runes. The wand grants the skill The Stars Answer, and only Runes can be socketed into its slots.
The Stars Answer is a cold damage skill that causes massive rocks to fall from space for an extended period—but it costs 10,000 Mana per cast.
The 200% rune effectiveness bonus is the main draw, effectively tripling the benefits of any runes socketed into the wand. This bonus also applies to Bonded modifiers unlocked via Shaman's Wisdom of the Maji.
For players seeking even more power, Runeseeker's Call can be corrupted to obtain a 6th Augment socket among other corruption outcomes.
