Summary

The Curse of the Allflame league introduces a powerful crafting system aboard The Sovereign, available through Vesper below deck. This guide explains how to maximize the potential of Allflame crafting, covering mechanics, optimal item types, and crucial limitations—including knowing when it's more cost-effective to buy POE currency like Dead Man's Sulphur outright rather than farming it yourself, especially as market prices fluctuate and your Intangibility climbs on valuable items.

How Allflame Crafting Works

Allflame crafting is a selection-based crafting method that generates multiple ghostly outcomes from a single crafting attempt, allowing you to choose the best result.

Core Mechanics

The Three Components
Every Allflame craft requires three things: your item, a crafting currency (orbs, fossils, resonators, or Ducats), and Dead Man's Sulphur. When you initiate a craft through Vesper, the system simulates the crafting outcome multiple times and presents you with ghostly options. You select one result to keep while the others disappear. This is a selection between possible results, not a way to create multiple permanent copies.

Intangibility: The Crafting Budget
Every successful Allflame craft adds Intangibility to your item. This percentage represents the chance that future Allflame crafts on that item will produce only one option instead of multiple. The first craft is always guaranteed to work with full options because your item starts at 0% Intangibility. Each success increases this percentage further. When Intangibility triggers and you "fail," your sulphur is consumed but you still receive one option rather than multiple. Crucially, failed crafts do not add more Intangibility to your item.

Important Safety Note: Intangibility cannot brick or destroy your item. It only affects the Allflame crafting mechanic itself. Your item remains completely usable outside of this system. The worst outcome is wasting sulphur, not breaking your gear.

Intangibility persists on the item and belongs to that specific item, not to you. Recombinators will retain the base's Intangibility when transferred.

Unlocking Full Crafting Potential

At the start of the league, not all crafting options will be available at Vesper. To unlock the complete range of Allflame crafting options, you simply need to spam Voyages. There is no shortcut or alternative method. The more Voyages you complete, the more crafted options become available.

This is critical because crafting without all options unlocked means you will lose value on each craft by missing optimal selections, particularly the ability to see multiple vials in the interface. Unlock everything before you seriously engage with crafting.

Best Uses for Allflame Crafting

Allflame crafting works with most currencies and crafting items. Here are the standout applications based on cost-effectiveness and power.

Jewels (Essences and Exalts)
Jewels are among the best use cases for this mechanic due to their low Dead Man's Sulphur costs. Crafting with Essences on jewels gives you four options per attempt, dramatically increasing your chances of hitting valuable combinations. Exalting a jewel with two desirable mods gives a very high likelihood of hitting a third or fourth great modifier. Creating triple-multi jewels is significantly more achievable than in previous patches. The low sulphur cost and high outcome count make jewels extremely profitable for trading or effective for personal gear.

Fracturing Orbs
Fracturing Orbs are expensive but extremely powerful when used through Allflame crafting. The mechanic generates two options for fracture outcomes, effectively doubling your odds of hitting the mod you want to lock. Whether this is cost-effective depends on your item base value, current sulphur prices, and the fracture orb market price. For high-value bases, this is often very well worth the investment.

Tempering and Tailoring Orbs
These orbs cost approximately 10,000 Dead Man's Sulphur per craft. Since Tempering and Tailoring Orbs are generally much more expensive than 10,000 sulphur, this is almost always worth using. Tempering orbs add powerful implicit modifiers to chests and weapons, making them valuable finishing crafts. Just remember that each use adds Intangibility, potentially affecting future crafts on that item.

Fossil Resonators
Three- and four-socket resonators with expensive fossil combinations can be extremely cost-effective to run through Allflame crafting, especially when the fossil combo is valuable and the sulphur cost is lower than the resonator and fossil materials themselves. One-socket resonators are rarely worth the sulphur cost, but expensive multi-mod combinations benefit greatly from having multiple options.

Influence Exalts
Warlord's, Hunter's, Redeemer's, and other influence exalts are particularly valuable in this league since certain implicits are no longer available through other means. Using Allflame crafting gives you higher odds of hitting desirable influence modifiers on your final affix slots. Check influence modifier pools on PoEDB to target specific mods for your build.

Regular Exalt Slams
If you have an item with four modifiers, there is no reason not to exalt slam through Allflame crafting. You get multiple options for the same cost, and you can then craft the sixth modifier on the crafting bench. This is essentially free value.

Ducats: Special Allflame Currencies

Ducats are exclusive currencies found in the Fathomless Depths that can only be used through Allflame crafting. They apply unique effects beyond standard currency outcomes.

Kishara's Ducat splits your item into multiple ghostly forms, each retaining a single random modifier. You then select one of these forms to keep. This is extremely powerful for isolating one valuable mod from an otherwise poor item, which is particularly useful for recombinating or further crafting. When you have an item with three good modifiers, Kishara's Ducat will split all three into separate items, and you can choose the one with the modifier you want to completely isolate.

The Genteel's Ducat changes a modifier that grants a single attribute to grant a different attribute. If your build needs dexterity and you have a ring with unwanted strength, you can convert that strength to dexterity. This functions similarly to the Harvest attribute swap mechanic and provides nice quality of life.

Brinehook's Ducat creates a random Pantheon Aspect Skill onto an item. This can be useful for adding Aspect properties that benefit your build.

Tzamoto's Ducat is a high-risk option that gives a 50% chance to remove all Intangibility from your item and a 50% chance to destroy the item entirely. Only use this on items you are willing to lose if you want to "reset" the Intangibility on a valuable base.

Merrick's Ducat augments a Rare Abyssal Jewel with a random modifier and corrupts it. This is useful for adding a final mod to Abyssal Jewels but comes with the corruption risk.

Important Warning: The Changeling's Ducat transforms into a random Ducat but will consume your item. Do not use this on gear you plan to keep.

Items You Cannot Use

Several currencies and item types are completely incompatible with Allflame crafting. You cannot use Vaal Orbs, Orb of Chance, Ancient Orbs, or Tainted Mythic Orbs through this system. Items that create multiple copies, such as Mirror of Kalandra or Reflecting Mist, also cannot be used. Additionally, Embers of the Allflame are for the Necropolis league Lantern mechanic, not for Allflame crafting, despite the similar name.

Strategy Tips

Always Check Prices First
Dead Man's Sulphur has a fluctuating market price. Before each crafting session, compare the sulphur cost against the value of the currency you are using. What is worth crafting today may not be worth crafting tomorrow as market conditions change.

Plan Your Crafting Order
Since Intangibility increases with each successful craft, perform wider-selection crafts first, where having multiple options matters most. Save more predictable or less-critical steps for later when Intangibility is higher. Your first craft on an item is always guaranteed to give you full options, so use that on your most RNG-dependent step.

Know When to Start Over
If Intangibility climbs high and you have not achieved your desired results, consider whether a fresh base might be more cost-effective than continuing to fight diminishing returns. The compounding chance of failure can make subsequent crafts increasingly expensive in terms of wasted sulphur.

Match Ducats to Clear Goals
Each Ducat solves a specific problem. Kishara's is for isolating valuable mods. The Genteel's is for attribute requirement fixes. Brinehook's is for adding Aspect properties. Don't use them randomly—have a specific purpose in mind.

Quick Value Guide by Craft Type

Exceptional Value
Jewels using Essences or Exalts offer the best return due to extremely low sulphur costs and four outcome options. Tempering and Tailoring Orbs are also exceptional value since their market price far exceeds the 10,000 sulphur cost.

High Value
Fracturing Orbs effectively double your odds of hitting the right mod, making them worthwhile for valuable bases. Three- and four-socket fossil resonators benefit significantly from selection when the fossil combo is expensive.

Good Value
Influence exalts are great for finishing items, and regular exalts are essentially free value since you would use them anyway.

Consider Carefully
One-socket resonators and low-value currencies may not justify the sulphur cost. Always check prices before committing.

Conclusion

Allflame crafting is one of the most powerful systems introduced in recent leagues, providing selection where RNG once dominated—particularly for jewels, fracturing, tempering and tailoring orbs, and influence exalts—so remember to unlock all crafting options through Voyages first, check market prices before each craft (and consider when it's better to buy cheap POE currency like Dead Man's Sulphur instead of farming it), manage Intangibility as a limited resource on your items, always have a clear goal for your Ducats, and with these strategies you can craft items far more efficiently than ever before, whether for your own build or for profit.
