Summary
Ritual farming in Path of Exile 2 has become significantly harder due to recent nerfs and the deferring penalty, but with the right approach — including knowing when to buy POE2 Currency — players can still generate massive profits of over 600 Divine Orbs in a single day. This guide breaks down the current state of Ritual, the challenges you'll face, and the exact strategies needed to overcome them and maximize your earnings.
Current State of Ritual: What Changed
Before diving into the strategy, it's important to understand the current landscape:
The 25% Nerf
Ritual has effectively been nerfed by approximately 25% compared to last season. Previously, players could expect around 40 Omens in a 6-hour session. Now, even with optimized characters and gear, that number has dropped to around 30-34 Omens.
The Deferring Penalty
This is the biggest challenge facing Ritual farmers right now. When you defer an item, its tribute cost decreases. However, if you stop deferring it, the price immediately resets to its original value. For example:
A 20,000 tribute item deferred twice drops to 16,000
If you don't continue deferring, it jumps back to 20,000
This makes it incredibly difficult to extract expensive items, especially when multiple high-value items appear simultaneously.
The Invisible Expiration Bug
Perhaps the most frustrating issue: when items reach their base cost again and you don't have enough tribute, they can expire without warning. Many players have lost valuable Omens and currency this way. You won't even see the red warning if you're completely out of tribute.
Magnanimous Offering
This mechanic gives you a 20% chance to get a free reroll. While it sounds beneficial, it actually compounds the deferring problem. Free rerolls force you to make difficult decisions about which items to keep deferring, often leading to losses.
Why Doriani is Currently Mandatory
After extensive testing, one thing is clear: Jato is not viable right now for most players. The tribute problems are simply too severe, and Jato doesn't provide enough tribute to compensate.
Why Doriani Wins
Passive Tribute Generation
Doriani's Evolutionary Pressure and improved calibration buffs your tablets, passively increasing your total tribute. This directly counters the current problems.
Volatile Connections
This gives you access to cleanse maps, which drop Fracturing Orbs. In one day, we collected 6 Fracturing Orbs — that's 54 Divine Orbs just from this bonus.
Ease of Use
Doriani is simply easier to run. You don't need specific tablet combinations or expensive workarounds to make it function.
Jato's Problems
Constantly lacking tribute
Tablet effects are too random (0-40 range)
Requires specific waystones and tablets to function
Not recommended for newer players
If you have extensive resources and know exactly what you're doing, you can make Jato work with tribute tablets and pack size tablets. But for everyone else, Doriani is the way to go.
The Wisp Strategy: Your Secret Weapon
Wisps (Sacred Blooms) are currently one of the best additions to Ritual farming. Here's how they work:
How to Use Sacred Blooms
Go to your map device
Right-click on a Sacred Bloom
Left-click on the map you want to apply it to
Pro Tip: You can influence multiple maps with a single Sacred Bloom. Look for maps that are adjacent to several others — we've influenced up to 5 maps with one bloom.
What Happens Inside
When you enter a map with a Sacred Bloom:
You'll start in a Wildwood area
Run through it collecting as many wisps as possible
Average collection: 10-15k wisps (sometimes up to 40k)
These wisps enhance all monsters in the map
Wisp Combinations
Best Combination: Green + Purple
Green makes monsters very tanky and difficult
Purple adds excellent currency drops
Together, they provide the best returns
Expect 1-2 Divine Orbs on average per map, sometimes up to 4
Yellow Wisps
Give mostly gold
Acceptable but not optimal
Yellow + Purple is okay but inferior to Green + Purple
Sacred (Six Maps)
Avoid these
Monsters become incredibly tanky
Bosses can take 10+ minutes to kill
Rewards don't justify the time investment
Important Note: Wisps don't appear to affect Ritual rewards directly. Think of them as a bonus layer on top of your Ritual farming.
The Atlas Setup
Setting up your Atlas is straightforward:
Search "Pack Size" — Pick every node that increases pack size
Search "Effectiveness" — Pick every node that increases effectiveness
Waystone Strategy
Tier 15 with 8 Mods (Recommended)
Craft these yourself if possible
Buying them is expensive
Use Orb of Alchemy, then Exalted Orbs, then Vaal Orb
If You Can't Craft 8-Mod Waystones
6-mod waystones are acceptable
Don't overthink it
Run what you have
