Pendola Pass Brings a New Alpine Battlefield

The biggest addition is Pendola Pass, a large alpine tundra map that significantly expands the world of ARC Raiders. Unlike the temporary snow introduced during the Cold Snap event, Pendola Pass is designed around a permanent frozen environment. Snow, buildings, infrastructure, and other environmental details are all built to make the harsh climate feel natural.

Embark's artists even traveled to the Alps to collect visual references and scan real-world materials. The result is a map filled with snow-covered landscapes, large structures, hidden areas, and unique interiors.

One of the most interesting locations is a collapsed ARC Collector. Players will be able to enter this massive structure and explore its interior, creating a completely different experience from simply seeing Collectors in the distance on existing maps.

The environment itself also becomes part of exploration. Players can slide across snowy terrain, use a grapple to reach different locations, and potentially melt frozen obstacles with the new Flame Spray gadget. These mechanics could open secret paths and previously inaccessible areas.

New ARC Enemies Use Advanced Movement

Frozen Trail will also introduce new ARC threats, with the Bully being one of the most important examples. Like the Leaper, the Bully uses machine learning to determine how its body moves rather than relying entirely on traditional hand-authored animations.

However, its movement is fundamentally different. The Leaper can move in several directions with considerable freedom, while the Bully behaves more like a large quadrupedal animal. It relies heavily on forward momentum, charges toward Raiders, and can create dangerous close-range encounters.

Its head and targeting system are also designed to create readable attack patterns. The machine can track players with its eye while its weapon follows more slowly, giving Raiders a brief opportunity to react.

Another new enemy, the Skullker, was described as resembling a dangerous machine equipped with a shotgun. These enemies are intended to make combat more unpredictable and force players to consider different tools and strategies.

New Weapons and Gadgets Expand Combat

The showcase also provided glimpses of new equipment. The Bettina appears in an upgraded or modified form, while another weapon seems to feature a large magazine and incendiary ammunition. The exact specifications of every weapon have not yet been revealed.

Several gadgets were shown as well. The Grapple should provide additional mobility around the mountainous map, while the Flame Spray can melt ice blocking certain entrances. A Tether Gun was also briefly shown, although its full function remains unclear.

These tools could make exploration more important in Frozen Trail, especially if players need to combine mobility and environmental gadgets to reach hidden locations.

Raider Outposts Add Long-Term Progression

Frozen Trail is also introducing Raider Outposts, giving players a customizable space outside the Rust Belt. Players will be able to decorate their Outpost with items collected during expeditions and display various discoveries.

The system is also intended to expand crafting. New stations, mechanics, items, and weapons will give veteran players additional progression goals while remaining accessible to newer Raiders.

Embark described the current Outpost system as a first step rather than a finished feature, suggesting that it could receive further development in future updates.

The Frigot Could Become a Major Threat

Perhaps the most mysterious addition is the Frigot, a huge ARC threat that Embark has been testing internally. The developers described it as one of the largest and most complicated encounters they have attempted.

Its size creates unique design challenges. The team needs to make players feel its presence without overwhelming other sounds, while also ensuring that the encounter works correctly in a multiplayer environment.

The Frigot could therefore become one of Frozen Trail's defining features, although Embark has intentionally kept much of its gameplay details hidden.

Frozen Trail Launches October 8

ARC Raiders: Frozen Trail is scheduled to launch on October 8. With Pendola Pass, new ARC enemies, weapons, gadgets, Outposts, and the mysterious Frigot, the update represents a major expansion of the game.

More importantly, Frozen Trail will test whether Embark's longer development cycle can consistently produce larger and more ambitious content. For Raiders, the first trip into Pendola Pass should reveal how much the game's world, combat, exploration, and progression have evolved, while cheap arc raiders coins can help players prepare for the new content and progression opportunities.
