Weekend Drop -
Summary
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, bringing its next campaign, multiplayer, and DMZ experience to players on current-generation platforms. However, digital preorders unlock selected modes before launch, while Xbox Game Pass subscribers must wait until Holiday 2027 to play through the subscription. Here are the key release dates, global launch times, and preorder requirements you need to know.
1. When Does Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Release?
The official release date for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is Friday, October 23, 2026. The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2.
Because the game becomes available at different local times, some players can start playing on October 22. For example, the US Pacific release time is 9 PM on October 22, while players in Singapore can start at noon on October 23.
Players preparing for the multiplayer launch may also be researching options such as CoD Modern Warfare 4 Bot Lobbies as they plan their early progression. Before choosing any third-party service, check its legitimacy and make sure it complies with the game's rules to avoid risking your account.
Modern Warfare 4 Global Release Times:
| Region | Local Release Date | Release Time |
|---|---|---|
| US Pacific | October 22 | 9:00 PM PDT |
| US Eastern | October 23 | 12:00 AM EDT |
| United Kingdom | October 23 | 5:00 AM BST |
| Central Europe | October 23 | 6:00 AM CEST |
| India | October 23 | 9:30 AM IST |
| China / Singapore | October 23 | 12:00 PM |
| Japan / South Korea | October 23 | 1:00 PM |
| Sydney / Melbourne | October 23 | 3:00 PM AEDT |
Check your platform's store for the final local availability time, as actual access may be affected by regional settings or service issues.
2. Modern Warfare 4 Early Access: Campaign and DMZ Dates
Players who want to jump into Modern Warfare 4 before launch can access selected modes through an eligible digital preorder or prepurchase. However, each mode has its own early access date.
| Mode | Early Access Date | Requirement |
|---|---|---|
| Single-player campaign | October 16, 2026 | Any eligible digital edition preorder or prepurchase |
| DMZ | October 20, 2026 | Any eligible digital edition preorder or prepurchase |
| Full game launch | October 23, 2026 | Purchase the game |
The campaign early access period gives players a head start on the story before the full game launches. DMZ follows four days later, offering another opportunity to get into the action early.
One important detail: you do not need to buy the more expensive Vault Edition to access the campaign early. The Digital Standard Edition also qualifies. However, the early access benefits described here apply to digital purchases, so a physical preorder does not qualify for these specific bonuses.
Campaign access also does not mean the entire game is available early. Players must wait until the full launch to access standard multiplayer.
3. Is Modern Warfare 4 Coming to Xbox Game Pass?
Yes, but not at launch. Activision has confirmed that Modern Warfare 4 will join Xbox Game Pass in Holiday 2027, with no exact date announced yet.
This is a major difference from recent Call of Duty releases that arrived on the subscription service at launch. Players who want to play Modern Warfare 4 on October 23 must purchase it separately rather than relying on Game Pass access.
Here is what Xbox players should remember:
At launch: A separate purchase is required.
Campaign early access: Available through an eligible digital preorder.
DMZ early access: Begins October 20 for eligible digital preorders.
Game Pass availability: Planned for Holiday 2027.
If you already subscribe to Game Pass, check the specific game's store listing before assuming your subscription includes it. Access to previous Call of Duty titles does not automatically grant access to Modern Warfare 4.
4. Should You Preorder Modern Warfare 4?
Preordering makes the most sense for players who want to experience the campaign or DMZ before the full release. Digital Standard Edition buyers can receive the early access benefits without paying for the more expensive Vault Edition.
Before purchasing, consider these points:
Choose a digital edition if early access is important to you.
Compare Standard and Vault Edition bonuses before spending extra.
Do not preorder solely because you expect the game to be available through Game Pass at launch.
Confirm the release time in your region and on your chosen platform.
Players researching CoD Modern Warfare 4 Bot Lobbies for sale should evaluate third-party offers carefully. Verify what a service actually provides, review its terms, and consider the risk of account penalties before making a purchase.
Players who are mainly interested in multiplayer can still wait for October 23. Those who prefer to play the campaign first can use the early access period to complete the story before the full launch.
Final Thoughts
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 launches on October 23, 2026, with campaign early access starting October 16 and DMZ early access beginning October 20 for eligible digital preorder customers. The game will not arrive on Xbox Game Pass until Holiday 2027, so launch-day players need to purchase it separately. Check your local release time and preorder requirements before deciding when and how to jump in.
