Dark and Darker: How to Trade

Feb-10-2025 PST Dark And Darker

Got some items to sell? Trading is an important part of Dark and Darker, as you often need to sell items that you can't use. Likewise, once you have some gold to spare, it's a good idea to buy better equipment. Here's how to trade in Dark and Darker.

Dark and Darker: How to Trade

How to Trade With Merchants

While in the lobby, you can open the Merchant's menu to find a variety of craftsmen. You can sell your loot to them in return for gold, or use your gold to buy better equipment. Note that the Merchants only trade Dark and Darker items that are linked to their profession.

How to Join the Trading Channel

If you want to trade with other players, you can do so in the in-game Dark and Darker trading channel. However, to join this trade menu, you need to be level 5 or higher. On top of that, you need to pay an initiation fee of 25 Gold.

Once that's done, you will find the following trading channels: one for each class (including weapons and armor), one for utility items, and one for everything else, such as powders and ores.

How to Trade With Other Players

After opening a trade channel, use the drop-down menus in the upper left corner to select the item you're looking for. If you wish to buy something, right-click with your mouse and choose Trade Request.

If you want to sell an item, hold shift and left-click that item with your mouse. This will add the item to your chat message on the left side of the screen. Before you press enter, it's useful to type the desired price (such as "80g" if you want 80 gold) in the same message. If you're open to offers, you can write "offers" after the item's name.

If a trade request is accepted, the seller will add the item to the trade inventory in the middle of the screen, while the buyer will add the requested Dark and Darker gold. If the seller is satisfied, they need to click the accept button. If not, they click the cancel trade button.

Remember, if you're trying to sell an item that belongs to a class other than your own, you need to go to the other class' trading channel. The Fighter in the picture above, for example, needs to visit the Ranger channel to sell the Warden Outfit, which is a Ranger-only armor piece.

Can You Trade With Your Character?

Sadly, the short answer is no, you can't trade items between your characters. This can be quite frustrating, as it means your Barbarian may pick up an amazing item for the Wizard class, but you can't give that item to your Wizard.

There's a workaround though; if you have a (trustworthy) friend, you can trade with that friend and ask them to trade again with your other character.
