Before your next Enshrouded expedition, reserve a Flame Altar slot, enable loose-loot collection, pin your next recipe and refresh Rested. Those changes help immediately.
Add magical storage and a healing-ingredient farm when the required survivors are available, then prepare special supplies when your quests lead into Cinder's Cradle.
Returning with an older character? Spend the skill points refunded on your first 1.0 load and check your bindings before leaving base. Restore the abilities your equipment depends on, then test movement and combat nearby. The update also reset custom controls.
Your Progress | Prioritize | Next Step |
Starting to explore | Tips 1 to 7: travel, gathering, stamina and equipment | Add production systems as survivors unlock |
Established base | Tip 8: chest conversion and Quick Stack; tips 9 and 10 if healing supplies run short | Tip 11 for easier construction |

Returning-player shortcuts: auto-loot, full-chest conversion and Quick Stack (8), Airborne Architect, and Cinder's Cradle preparation.
1. Keep a Spare Flame Altar
When to use it: Before exploring beyond your convenient travel points.
What you need: A crafted altar and an unused altar slot in your world.
Place a temporary Flame Altar at a safe, permitted location near your objective, such as outside a dungeon entrance. Confirm its marker on the map.
When your backpack fills, teleport home to unload and repair, then return to that altar. Leave it active until the expedition and any death-loot recovery are finished.
Before departing in Enshrouded, check your altar limit and retire obsolete travel points. Name the remaining ones by purpose so you can tell a useful resource stop from an old stepping stone.
Strengthen the Flame raises shared progression benefits, including Shroud passage and altar capacity; upgrading an individual altar expands that base's building area. If red Shroud blocks the route, inspect the strengthening requirements.
Keep early travel points outside the Shroud: pushing it back with altars normally requires Flame Level 11, unless world settings lower that requirement.
2. Collect Loose Loot Automatically
When to use it: During harvesting and resource trips.
What you need: No survivor or crafting unlock.
In Enshrouded, open Settings, select Game, and enable Auto Collect Scattered Loot. Walk over eligible drops after gathering or breaking objects. This 1.0 convenience removes repeated interaction presses when materials scatter around your feet.
Containers, defeated enemies and quest-related items still need separate attention. Check those before leaving a cleared room.
If unwanted stacks keep filling your backpack, turn automatic collection off and hold the interaction button to gather nearby scattered items selectively.
On default PC controls, that is E. You can keep holding it while moving through the drops. Use automatic collection for bulk materials and selective collection when expedition space matters more.
3. Pin Your Next Crafting Recipe
When to use it: Before gathering for equipment or a base project.
What you need: The target recipe visible in your Journal.
Open your Enshrouded Journal's Workshops section, find the item and select Pin Recipe. Check the ingredients before departure; you can also consult workshop recipes away from base when you discover an unexpected resource.
Pick one useful project and gather Enshrouded items required for its recipe alongside nearby objectives. Before heading home, check the pinned requirements for anything still missing. This gives the trip a stopping point and reduces repeat journeys for a single overlooked ingredient.
Inspect workshop prerequisites too. Goo requires the Alchemist's Mortar, so gathering mushrooms alone will not finish a project that depends on it. If a required station is missing, follow its survivor quest first and use your existing equipment in the meantime.
4. Leave Home with Rested Active
When to use it: Before a long run, resource trip or difficult fight.
What you need: Safety, warmth, shelter and nearby Comfort furniture.
Refresh Rested at your Enshrouded base and let the timer finish filling before departure. The buff increases maximum stamina and stamina regeneration; Comfort extends its duration. That extra time helps you keep sprinting, dodging, gliding and gathering during an expedition.
Improve different furniture categories before making duplicates. A bed, table and bench can contribute separately, while copies of the same item will not keep adding duration. Compare a furnishing's Comfort category and value with what your resting area already contains.
Snow Lanterns and paintings are options once available. Check the displayed Comfort after placing them: replacing an existing light can give a smaller increase than the new item's listed value. Stop decorating for efficiency once the timer comfortably covers your usual trip.
5. Find Your Movement Skills
When to use it: When ledges and detours repeatedly interrupt exploration.
What you need: Unspent skill points, a connected unlock path and a glider for Updraft.
Open the Enshrouded skill tree and look for Double Jump around the Survivor/Athlete connection. It adds a second jump while airborne. Updraft sits around the Assassin/Trickster connection and boosts your height while gliding.
You can invest across branches regardless of your weapon choice, but must unlock connecting nodes first; the target node's price is only part of that investment.
Consider Double Jump early if terrain is your main obstacle. Keep enough points for essential combat abilities if ordinary enemies are stopping you. For Updraft, check the displayed path cost and your mana supply before committing: it costs 100 Mana and works once per flight.
Returning players should test Updraft over safe ground. In 1.0, its charge duration is configurable in world settings, so familiar timing may differ. Choose a reachable landing point and preserve enough stamina to finish the glide.
6. Upgrade the Gear You Rely On
When to use it: When routine fights drain supplies or take too long.
What you need: Suitable equipment, Runes and the relevant crafting survivor.
Open Item Upgrades at the appropriate Enshrouded survivor: Blacksmith for warrior equipment, Hunter for ranger equipment, Alchemist for mage equipment. Keep the item in your inventory and preview later stages as well as the next upgrade. Some stages require Legendary Runes.
Choose the investment by your current problem. Upgrade a regularly used weapon when slow kills are exhausting healing supplies. Inspect armor upgrades if routine hits leave little room for mistakes.
An established character with functioning equipment should compare upgrade previews before replacing their current Enshrouded items with an entirely new gear set.
Spend cautiously on short-lived replacements. Salvage unwanted equipment to replenish Runes, checking the displayed return first. The return varies; do not plan the next upgrade around recovering everything you spent.
7. Unlock a Regional Travel Anchor
When to use it: On reaching an accessible region with an uncleared Ancient Spire.
What you need: A route you can survive; a glider makes the unlocked height useful.
In Enshrouded, reaching a spire's exterior does not unlock its travel point. Complete its climbing challenges and traps, reach the top, and speak with the Flame. Confirm that the spire is available on your map before relying on it for the next journey.
Flame also reveals Ancient Obelisk locations. Visit those to uncover Shroud Roots and Flame Shrines, giving further exploration concrete targets. Launching from the spire lets you scout a route and choose a landing point before placing your next temporary altar.
If enemies or Shroud passage make the approach unsafe, continue accessible quests and Flame progression first. Returning players with established spires can skip this step and use their existing network to stage the next expedition.
8. Convert Chests and Centralize Deposits
When to use it: When sorting and retrieving materials interrupts every trip.
What you need: Chest-enchantment materials; Carpenter and Mortar progression for Quick Stack.
Enshrouded 1.0 lets you convert eligible storage through the chest interface without emptying it. Open a chest, select Enchant and supply the displayed ingredients. Use the size-upgrade option when available too. This is useful for an established base whose full boxes made replacement inconvenient.
Magical chests supply materials directly for crafting and building within your base. Name your magical chests by resource type, and keep frequently used Enshrouded items, equipment and expedition supplies easy to retrieve manually.
At the Carpenter, a Quick Stack Station costs 1 Shroud Core, 2 Goo and 5 Revelwood Stone. If Goo is holding you up, unlock the Mortar and process Critter Parts into Bug Dust to access its recipe.
Place the station near magical storage, put example materials into their intended chests, then use it to deposit matching stacks. If items stay behind, check free space, distance and each chest's automatic-deposit setting.
Until the station unlocks, use Stack Matching Items at individual chests. Quick Stack existed before 1.0; this update moves its unlock earlier.
9. Grow Your Healing Ingredients
When to use it: When gathering healing supplies repeatedly delays departure.
What you need: Alchemist, Farmer, Seedbed and Grinding Stone for Bonemeal.
An Enshrouded potion farm becomes useful once maintaining supplies takes more effort than tending crops. Harvest Penny Bun mushrooms and Purple Berries in the Springlands to unlock their seedlings, then start this production chain:
Recipe | Ingredients | Output |
Penny Bun Seedling | Penny Bun x1, Bonemeal x1 | 5 seedlings |
Berry Bush Seedling | Purple Berries x1, Farm Soil x1 | 5 seedlings |
Health Potion at Alchemist | Penny Bun x1, Purple Berries x1 | 1 potion |
Queue seedlings, plant them in Farm Soil and harvest the crops. Reserve enough ingredients to make the next batch of seedlings, then turn surplus mushrooms and berries into potions. One Seedbed is enough to begin; a second lets you produce both crops alongside each other.
Replenish Bonemeal and soil as they are consumed. If you have not unlocked farming, keep gathering wild ingredients while following survivor quests. Established players can expand whichever crop currently runs out first.
10. Expand Soil in Small Passes
When to use it: When expanding a working farm.
What you need: Construction Hammer, Rake, Farm Soil and a base building area.
Place a small Farm Soil patch slightly above the surrounding ground, then start the Rake on it and work outward at the intended height. Inspect the first strip before expanding. Starting on neighboring dirt or using the wrong height can spread an unwanted surface.
In your Enshrouded base, keep early passes away from paths and foundations you want to preserve. If the result looks wrong, stop and adjust the starting patch and rake angle. Avoid covering an entire field with separately placed soil before trying this smaller setup.
You can mine Farm Soil at farms or craft 10 at the Farmer from 7 Springlands Dirt and 3 Bonemeal. Keep some for seedling recipes. Players whose current harvest already covers their supplies can leave farm expansion until later.
11. Try First-Person and Flying Construction
When to use it: When interiors or roofs are awkward to reach.
What you need: Construction Hammer; Airborne Architect for flying construction.
With your hammer equipped and Enshrouded build mode open, press Z on default PC controls for first-person building. It clears your character from the view when fitting furniture or aligning details. This camera mode needs no skill investment.
Airborne Architect is a separate skill near the center of the tree, added in 1.0. Unlock it and follow its activation prompt for free-flying building inside your base. Returning builders can use it to reach existing roofs and upper walls without repeatedly making access platforms.
Use snapping for aligned pieces and disable it for deliberate offsets. Flying construction still consumes building materials. If exploration and combat are your immediate goals, spend those skill points on the abilities you need outside the base first.
12. Check Readiness for Cinder's Cradle
When to use it: After reaching northern, late-game progression.
What you need: Flame Level 10, the relevant main quests and an expedition-ready kit.
For Enshrouded veterans, check Crown of Sorrow: obtain the Broken Guard of the North Crown from Cromville Throne Room, meet the remaining material and survivor requirements shown at your altar, and strengthen the Flame to Level 10.
Then track Land of the Sky Islands through the Ancient Gate toward Cinder's Ascent and the Ancient Researcher, Loraine Crim. If that progression is unavailable, resume unfinished regional main quests first.
For a first scouting trip, repair equipment, activate food and Rested, pack healing, and test your rebuilt character in familiar fights. If ordinary encounters exhaust your supplies, improve the weak equipment slot or restore missing skills, then repeat that short test before a long push.
Bring Sparks for activation panels and doors, plus Archaic Lockpicks for high-tier locks. Construct enemies drop Archaic Shards used to replenish those picks through manual crafting. Check each panel's cost before spending Sparks reserved for another project.
Against Constructs, avoid committing your whole supply to a resisted damage type. Test an alternative weapon or spell and read the Effective or Resisted feedback.
Establish legal altar travel points as you advance, especially before risky Sky Island crossings. New players can leave this preparation until their quest progression brings them north.
