EA's October 13, 2026 Launch Feedback Update confirms that the FUT Champions matchmaking issue was fixed on October 9 and that earlier title updates introduced Career Mode transfer improvements.
Manual defending, fullback positioning and Kickabouts matchmaking remain under review. The announcement brings those different statuses together; it does not introduce a new numbered patch or announce that every reported problem has been resolved.
For EA SPORTS FC 27 players, the useful distinction is between changes already in place and problems still awaiting action. The status table below covers what you can reasonably expect now, including the limits of Career fixes and alternatives to waiting for Kickabouts.
Confirmed Fixes and Ongoing Issues
In FC 27, the Champions tuning correction is already live, Career transfers have received partial improvements, and fullback depth and Kickabouts queues remain unresolved. Check your issue below before changing a squad, abandoning a Career save or waiting for another patch.
Your Issue | Has It Been Addressed? | What You Can Do Now | What You Are Waiting For |
Champions matchmaking range feels too broad | Identified tuning issue fixed October 9 | Assess subsequent matches; the fix does not promise weaker opponents | No further fix needed for that identified issue |
Career transfer requests or competing offers | Partial improvements in v1.0.3 and v1.0.4 | Install the updates; keep your save. Existing requests are not confirmed to clear automatically | Further Career improvements; no universal request-removal method announced |
Manual defending feels difficult | EA maintains its design and monitors adaptation | Play with the current system; no increased AI assistance announced | A future balance announcement, if EA decides to change it |
Fullbacks drop behind the defensive line | Acknowledged; no fix announced | Check the line at the pass. No verified Depth or Player Instructions workaround established here | An announced fullback adjustment and deployment date |
Kickabouts cannot gather enough players | Queue improvements under investigation | Try an active 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 or In-World Rush activity if you simply want a match; availability varies | Queue or participation improvements; no fix date announced |
October 13 is the announcement date. The Champions correction went live on October 9; Career improvements arrived through earlier title updates.
Champions Matchmaking Fixed on October 9
The Problem EA Identified
EA found that matchmaking tuning during FC 27's first Champions weekend was broader than intended and deployed a fix on October 9. The feedback announcement publishes no numerical range or replacement formula. What the Correction Changes
EA's Champions help guidance lists location, current Form, platform and cross-play settings as matchmaking factors. Form reflects results within the current Champions competition: wins add one and losses subtract one. A sequence of W/L/L/W/W therefore produces a Form of +1.
A correction to an unintended matching range does not guarantee an opponent with identical ability or an easier weekend. A difficult match after October 9, by itself, cannot establish that the original tuning issue has returned. Before committing FC 27 Coins to a Champions squad upgrade, identify whether your losses expose a specific squad weakness. The matchmaking correction alone gives you no reason to rebuild the team.
Judge the correction separately from your performance. A narrow defeat, a large scoreline or an expensive opposing squad does not reveal the opponent's Form, so those observations cannot establish a matchmaking-range error.
Manual Defending and Fullback Depth
EA Keeps Its Defending Approach
EA maintains its emphasis on anticipation, positioning and timing. It says match data shows players finding more defensive success as they adapt, and will continue watching that learning curve.
For your next FC 27 session, expect the current defensive system. Waiting for restored AI assistance is not a plan supported by this announcement; EA has offered no such adjustment or date.
Fullbacks Can Keep Attackers Onside
EA acknowledges that fullbacks sometimes drop too deep and keep attackers onside. If the center backs hold their line while a fullback retreats behind them, that deeper defender can allow a runner to remain onside.
When reviewing a through-ball goal, inspect the whole back line at the moment of the pass. A fullback retreating behind the center backs matches the behavior EA has acknowledged, so that sequence should not automatically be blamed on your tactics. Other conceded through balls may still come from positioning or timing mistakes.
EA says fullback positioning affects overall gameplay balance, so potential adjustments require care. It has not announced a deployment date or a guaranteed tactical workaround. If you are choosing a defender with FC 27 Coins, assess the player's suitability for your formation and the situations where you struggle. A different card is not a confirmed remedy for the fullback behavior EA describes.
Career Mode Transfer Improvements
EA points to v1.0.3 and v1.0.4 improvements for excessive transfer requests and competing offers after an enquiry. Further Career work will follow.
The FC 27 update history identifies what actually changed:
l October 2, v1.0.3: addressed cases in which Manager Career players requested transfers without prior messages or complaints, even with high morale.
l October 7, v1.0.4: adjusted transfer negotiations and corrected CPU counteroffers exceeding originally demanded or guaranteed fees. It also reduced the number of generated players with high OVR or potential.
EA has not confirmed that the earlier updates automatically remove transfer requests already active in an existing save. Starting a new Career is not a confirmed solution either, so players should not assume that either action will resolve every remaining transfer issue.
Player reports after v1.0.4 still describe unusual transfer negotiations and loans; they do not establish that every save is affected. Installing the relevant updates is sensible, but their availability is not confirmation that all problems in an old save have been cleared. Preserve your progress instead of restarting solely to seek an unconfirmed fix.
Kickabouts Queues Remain under Review
The Grounds in FC 27 has a player-availability problem in some Kickabouts: getting enough people together to start a match can be difficult. EA's earlier developer notes explained that popular small-sided activities can leave other activities struggling to attract enough participants.
EA is investigating queue improvements, including earlier ideas for attracting or connecting more participants. Those ideas have no deployment schedule. If your goal is simply to play football now, try an active small-sided activity or In-World Rush. This is an alternative activity, not a way to complete a Kickabouts-specific Objective.
Version 1.0.3 already improved matchmaking reliability in The Grounds. That earlier change and the remaining participation problem can coexist: a queue can work more reliably while an activity still lacks enough people to start. Repeated restarts are not a confirmed solution to that shortage.
Other Issues EA Is Tracking
The October 13 FC 27 announcement also recaps earlier developer discussions; these are not newly deployed changes.
Gameplay: Shooting, Interceptions and Fouls
EA continues to monitor goals shortly after kick-off, interceptions by items with lower defensive attributes, and shooting variety, especially near-post low driven shots. Foul decisions remain under investigation. None of those entries comes with a confirmed new balance adjustment in this announcement.
Career: Ratings and Team Management
Stamina and Dynamic OVR remain monitoring topics. EA is also working on visual changes to Team Management and investigating newly generated players whose starting OVR is higher than expected. Although v1.0.4 reduced high-rated player generation, the feedback update still lists starting OVRs as an investigation topic.
FUT: Market and Squad Progression
For players allocating FC 27 Coins between market upgrades and SBCs, this announcement supplies no new spending requirement. The FUT team is following Transfer Market trends, progression, Squad Building Challenges and Objectives, without announcing a new market rule or reward change. Base an upgrade on the current squad need and in-game requirements, not an assumed response to the feedback.
The Grounds: Menus and Upgrade Costs
Alongside Kickabouts, EA is monitoring menu performance and investigating incorrect upgrade costs. Its earlier developer notes identify these more specifically as Archetype Point costs for certain upgrades. If an upgrade's cost appears inconsistent, preserve the displayed requirement and your point balance before committing points. EA has supplied no confirmed reimbursement process or correction date in this announcement.
What to Check before Playing Again
Check which FC 27 issue you are waiting on: a deployed matchmaking correction, a partially improved Career system or an unresolved fullback or queue problem. A future fix becomes something to plan around once EA identifies the change and its deployment date. This announcement sets no such schedule for the outstanding issues.
