Summary
Pearl is the first fully robotic playable character in Honkai: Star Rail, and the first dedicated sustainer on the Path of Elation. She heals, shields through a brand-new resource system, and buffs Elation teams to absurd degrees. The question on every Trailblazer's mind is simple: is she a must-pull, a niche pick, or a skip? This guide breaks down her kit, her best E0 build, the free-to-play light cone that makes her signature optional, and exactly which teams she warps into winning. For players preparing to build Pearl and optimize her progression, Honkai: Star Rail Top Up can also provide additional resources for obtaining the materials and upgrades needed for her setup.
Who Is Pearl and What Does She Actually Do?
Pearl is a Defense-scaling healer whose entire kit revolves around Elation. She is not a generalist sustainer dressed up for the path; her damage buffs, her extra-turn mechanic, and her follow-up hits all scale with how many Elation characters you bring. Outside an Elation team, she is a very tanky healer and little else.
Her signature resource is Certified Banger. Her passive converts Banger into damage reduction, blocking up to 60 percent of incoming damage to all allies at a rate of 200 damage per Banger, capped at 50. Allies below half HP gain an additional 30 percent damage reduction. Stack that with her frequent AoE heals and her ability to cleanse a debuff from every single ally on her enhanced basic or skill, and she becomes one of the safest sustainers in the game.
How Her Kit Actually Plays
Pearl has three basics: a single-target normal, and two enhanced basics that hit all enemies and heal the whole party, with the lowest-HP ally healing for extra. You generate enhanced basics through her technique or her ultimate, both of which hand out Banger and charges.
Her ultimate is where the build clicks. It designates one ally as the Aesthetic Archetype, advances them based on your Elation count (up to 30 percent at three or more Elations), and, with four Elation characters, grants them a true extra turn just like Seele's Resurgence. If that ally is Elation, they also gain 30 Banger and 60 Punchline until the extra turn ends. Her next basic after ulting then deals 60 percent Elation damage that scales off the archetype ally's stats, not Pearl's.
A few hidden details matter. She gains 90 fixed energy after her designated ally ults, which is half her own ultimate cost and lets you chain ultimates on demand. Her Elation skill makes every ally's next attack deal bonus Elation damage scaled to team Elation count. And at 2400 Defense she gains 32 percent Elation damage, plus another 3 percent per 100 Defense up to 5000, with her healing itself scaling off 20 percent of that Elation stat.
Best E0 Build: Relics, Stats, and Light Cones
The good news: Pearl wants zero crit stats. The bad news: she wants Speed and Defense, and those are some of the most rolled-over substats in the game.
For relics, the new Dreamlet Actor set is her best-in-slot. The two-piece gives 6 percent Elation, and the four-piece buffs the ally you skill or ult for 16 percent Elation, with a team-wide 12 percent crit damage bonus when Pearl holds 10 or more Banger. Warrior of Sun and Thunder is a strong alternative because she heals every single turn, giving the whole team crit damage on top of her own speed. Eagle of Twilight Line works if you want extra action advance on her ultimate, and a mixed two-piece speed set plus Messenger is a fine temporary option. Avoid Divider of Distant Reach, since it does not stack and your other Elation carry is likely already wearing it.
Planar sets are simpler: Sprightly Vonwacq for the opening energy ramp, or Broken Keel for team-wide crit damage. With multiple Elation characters who barely scale on attack, Broken Keel usually wins. For main stats, run a healing body, speed boots, a Defense sphere, and an Energy Regeneration rope. A Defense body works, but a healing body means you basically never think about party HP again. Substats are just Speed and Defense.
On light cones, the signature is good but unnecessary. Mushy Shroomy's Adventures, a free craftable four-star, gives 20 percent Elation to the user and makes enemies take 10 percent more Elation damage at S5. That is the F2P default and it saves you a huge chunk of Stellar Jade. Yangqing or Aven light cones also perform well, and Tomorrow Together is an acceptable budget pick because the extra-turn target effectively gets two uses of its buff.
Teams and Who Gets the Extra Turn
The team formula is almost insultingly simple: Pearl plus Elation characters wins. She slots into every Elation comp in the game because she buffs the whole team and hands out a flexible extra turn.
The interesting decision is who you designate. Give the extra turn to Yaoguang and she ults faster, triggering more Aha instances. Give it to Evanescia and you enable her double-ultimate pattern. Most of the time, Silver Wolf gets it, because the Punchline synergy feeds huge hidden value. You can also route the turn to Aven to push him over his ultimate threshold and build Fervor, or to Yangqing to fund her ultimate and generate more Aha damage for the whole party.
Outside Elation teams, she is just a strong healer who does not outvalue Huohuo's energy generation, Dan Heng's shielding and damage, or Himeko's follow-up pressure. If your box is light on Elation carries, that trade-off matters.
Should You Pull? Eidolons vs the Signature
At E0, Pearl is fully functional. Her sustain is cheat-code level, and Mushy Shroomy's Adventures closes most of the gap to her signature light cone. Between E1 and S1, take E1: it gives a team-wide Elation buff scaled to your Elation count (60 percent at four Elations) plus two revives, and it beats the light cone because the F2P option is already so close.
E2 is the next big spike, adding 15 percent team Elation damage on top of action advance to the whole party and doubling the Banger and Punchline the extra-turn ally receives. E6 finally makes Pearl deal real damage, turning her enhanced attacks into hits worth 240 percent of her archetype's stats, and grants 20 percent resistance penetration to the team during her follow-up turns. E3 and E5 are level-ups, and E4 doubles the Elation-skill multiplier.
Final Verdict
Pearl is a top-tier sustainer for Elation teams and a skip for anyone who does not actually own Elation carries. She solves the path's survivability problem, converts her resource pool into a near-unkillable party, and gives you a flexible extra turn that rewards knowing your team. If you already invest in premium Elation damage, pull her to E0 and stop there, with E1 as a comfort upgrade. If your box is still building, save your Jades; she will be waiting when the Elation cores to make her shine are already on your account. For players ready to invest in her build and secure the resources needed for future upgrades, buy Honkai: Star Rail Top Up can help accelerate progression.
