Summary
Star Citizen Alpha 4.10 is entering an important stage, with RC2 now on the PTU and players watching closely for the live release. The latest build focuses on stability, bug fixes, and final polish, while large combat ships such as the Idris and Perseus continue to attract attention. If you need extra funds for ships or upgrades, you can also buy Star Citizen AUEC before diving into the latest content.
RC2 Brings 4.10 Closer
RC2 is a strong sign that CIG is moving toward the final release phase. The current testing cycle is focused heavily on fixing issues discovered by players and improving overall reliability before the update reaches the Persistent Universe. Alpha 4.10 is particularly important because it brings back Siege of Orison in an instanced format, alongside new missions, weapons, mining improvements, and various quality-of-life changes.
The instanced version of Siege of Orison should also provide a more controlled experience than the previous server-wide event, potentially reducing some of the performance problems associated with large-scale encounters.
Idris vs Perseus: Which Wins?
The Idris remains one of the most intimidating military ships in Star Citizen. Its capital-ship scale, powerful weaponry, and substantial crew requirements make it a major threat in large fleet engagements. CIG's current loaner matrix still lists the Idris-M and Idris-P as not Flight Ready in the Persistent Universe, highlighting that its full intended gameplay role remains a work in progress.
The Perseus, meanwhile, is designed more specifically as a heavily armed gunship for engaging larger targets. Its large-caliber weapons make it dangerous against sub-capital ships, but it is not simply a smaller Idris. Community testing suggests that the Perseus performs best when attacking appropriate large targets rather than chasing smaller, more maneuverable ships.
In a direct confrontation, the Idris should have the advantage in endurance, scale, and overall battlefield flexibility. The Perseus can still be extremely dangerous when properly positioned and supported by a coordinated crew.
What Comes Next?
With RC2 already being tested, the biggest question is when Alpha 4.10 will move from PTU to live servers. CIG has not guaranteed a specific release moment, so players should treat the incoming launch as a near-term expectation rather than a confirmed date.
Before jumping into the new update, having enough Star Citizen AUEC can help you cover ships, gear, upgrades, and other in-game expenses as you prepare for the next chapter of the Verse.
