The VALORANT new agent will be revealed before the Champions Shanghai grand final on October 18, 2026. Known in the community as Agent 31, she is reportedly a Chinese duelist whose kit could combine wall-crossing movement, copied teammate abilities and a different ultimate on each side.
That opens up some appealing possibilities: entering beside a defender who is watching the doorway, following Sova's first recon with another arrow, or adding a copied dash to an already mobile character.
These hypothetical combinations depend on how much freedom each ability would allow.
VALORANT New Agent Reveal and Release
Riot has confirmed an October 18 reveal live on the Champions Shanghai broadcast before the grand final. The October 17 showmatch is a separate event on the official schedule.
Watch on the official VALORANT Twitch channel or VALORANT Esports YouTube channel. Riot has not announced a separate start time for the agent segment.
Riot also released the official FINAL WORD teaser on October 15, offering another preview ahead of the full reveal.
The VALORANT new agent release date remains unannounced. Act VI began with Patch 13.08 on October 13, but that patch did not establish Agent 31's playable launch. Predictions about a release a few weeks into the act remain estimates; availability still needs its own announcement.
If you plan to top up VALORANT Points for cosmetics, the reveal alone is no reason to expect a new themed collection or an immediate playable release.
VALORANT Agent 31 Leaked Abilities
All ability names and effects below are unconfirmed leaks. The reported Double Life passive changes the ultimate by side.
Leaked Ability | Reported Effect |
Double Life (Passive) | Changes the available ultimate depending on whether the agent is attacking or defending |
Range Trigger | Throws a device that releases a mist curtain after a delay; passing through it applies nearsight |
Secondary Projection | Copies an ally's signature ability for use during the round |
Loaded Roll | Passes through a compatible wall, then rolls in the direction of movement |
Ground Rules | Creates a gravitational field that pushes enemies outward and slows them |
Starburst | Creates an anti-gravity field that lifts enemies before an explosion deals damage |
Loaded Roll also appears as Charged Roll in some accounts. Earlier reports assign the signature slot to ghost-themed abilities, while the detailed kit description gives it to the wall dash. The final slot assignments remain unresolved.
Range Trigger has a separate reporting conflict: descriptions differ on whether the device sticks or rolls after contacting a surface. Its resting point therefore cannot yet be treated as predictable.
The mist could help pressure an entrance, but its appearance does not establish whether it fully blocks vision or how it affects allies.
Wall Dash, Copying and Dual Ultimates
Wall Dash and Defensive Setups
The reported wall dash could let VALORANT Agent 31 approach a defender from an angle that normally requires going through an entrance. If confirmed, an entry player could threaten that alternative route while teammates pressure the usual choke, forcing defenders to divide their attention.
For a site anchor, that could mean holding a doorway no longer covers every immediate approach. A sentinel setup concentrated on the usual entrance might need another player watching the possible exit. That would be a positioning problem even if the dash never destroys or disables a single trap
There is no evidence that Loaded Roll grants immunity to sentinel utility. Its threat would depend on the path it takes relative to each device's detection area.
Defenders should watch where the agent emerges and whether existing utility still covers that space before assuming their setups have become useless.
The limiting word in the leak is "compatible." There is no verified wall list, so it would be premature to plan specific routes on Ascent, Bind or another map. Sound and weapon readiness matter just as much: a loud traversal with a long recovery could leave her landing in a defender's crosshair. Watch the complete activation-to-first-shot sequence when gameplay appears.
Copying and Extra Utility
Secondary Projection's appeal is the chance to add useful utility to a duelist without changing the rest of the lineup. If copying works across these agents, the following combinations would be worth testing:
Hypothetical Copy | Potential Play |
Sova's Recon Bolt | Follow the first recon with another arrow to check space again before committing |
Iso's Double Tap | Prepare protection for a planned duel, subject to the copied skill's activation rules |
Killjoy's Turret | Cover another approach on defense while Killjoy watches her original setup |
Jett's Tailwind | Add a movement option that could change the timing of an entry or retreat |
Two recon arrows could give a team another information window after the first arrow is destroyed or expires.
Staggering them might support a delayed push; overlapping them might force defenders to deal with two information threats together. Neither approach guarantees a reveal, and a second dart still needs a useful landing position.
The Jett example raises a different possibility: keeping one movement tool available after using the other. Whether that creates a practical escape or an awkward sequence of preparation animations would depend on how the copied dash is equipped and activated.
The acquisition and resource rules need to be considered together. Reports disagree on whether living teammates are valid targets or an ally must first die.
Charges, recharge conditions, original restrictions and supporting resources such as Viper's fuel also remain unresolved. Those rules determine whether a copied ability is dependable enough to build an execute around.
A VALORANT Points top up will not change the number of abilities she can copy or how those abilities function in a round.
Two Ultimates Across the Halves
Leaks describe Ground Rules and Starburst as side-dependent alternatives. They do not establish that the player can choose between both during the same round.
Ground Rules reportedly repels and slows enemies within a gravitational field, with a star that can be destroyed during activation. If accurate, it could disrupt a committed push, while the destructible object would offer possible counterplay.
Starburst reportedly lifts enemies before detonating. That could pressure an occupied position during an execute, but the delay and available escape options would determine whether it forces movement or secures damage.
Both effects could reward coordination: teammates would need to act while opponents are displaced, rather than assume the ultimate finishes the fight itself.
Agent 31 vs Jett, Neon and Yoru: Potential Team Synergies
Jett's Tailwind delivers a burst of movement along a route she can physically traverse. Neon's sprint and slide apply speed and pressure through accessible space. Yoru's Gatecrash relocates him to a tether he has sent or placed. Agent 31's reported distinction is crossing a compatible wall directly.
That could give her a useful angle where a normal dash would stop, but it would also make her options dependent on eligible surfaces.
Jett or Neon could remain easier to coordinate with a push through an open entrance; Yoru brings teleport deception that the wall-dash leak does not describe. There is no basis yet to call Agent 31 the better entry on every site.
The most promising VALORANT composition idea is pairing the new duelist with utility the team already wants, then using copying to add another timing window. Sova is an obvious candidate for the additional recon discussed above.
If copying requires a fallen teammate, however, a second-entry role could preserve access to that utility later in the round. If living allies qualify, planned combinations become much easier to arrange.
Her appeal is flexibility, with potentially unusual entry angles. Calling her a new must-pick would require evidence that those options are reliable, repeatable and difficult to counter. Until Riot explains the conditions, there is too little evidence to recommend replacing a dedicated initiator or controller with her.
Appearance, Lore and Unconfirmed Details
Reports of the Shanghai pop-up describe pale hair, purple visual elements and ghost figures alongside a grenade, die and coin.
Leaks identify the character as Chinese, while event accounts mention Cantonese audio. Community comparisons also link her appearance to a Summit portrait and a possible Radiant Academy background.
Players interested in cosmetics inspired by this aesthetic should wait for official store information before they top up VALORANT Points; no related collection has been confirmed.
