2. The Legacy Tree Can Make Fishing More Profitable
Fishing also has a place in the new Legacy Tree.
The profession section includes a talent called Lore Master, which has two ranks. The first rank gives players a 25% chance to catch an additional fish whenever a fishing lure is active.
The second rank has not been fully confirmed yet, but it could potentially increase the bonus further.
For players who plan to spend a lot of time Fishing, this could become one of the most valuable profession-related Legacy upgrades.
3. WoW Forever Adds New Fish Recipes and Special Transformations
Fishing is also getting some fun cosmetic and Cooking-related content.
The new Savory Whimsy Fish Delight acts as an Alliance counterpart to the familiar Savory Deviate Delight. These fish can be caught in the smaller rivers around Redridge Mountains, rather than the main lake.
Eating the cooked fish provides a temporary transformation:
Male characters become a Murloc.
Female characters become an Ogre.
The effect lasts for around one hour.
There is also a new Chef's Knife, which is required to prepare certain unique fish. However, it requires 275 Fishing skill, so its full purpose cannot yet be tested during the beta.
4. The Stranglethorn Fishing Derby Is Getting a Huge Reward Overhaul
The Stranglethorn Fishing Derby is one of the biggest Fishing changes in WoW Forever.
The basic event remains familiar. Every Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. server time, players fish for 40 Speckled Tastyfish and turn them in for rewards.
The major difference is the number of winners.
Instead of only one player winning each week, the first 50 players who complete the turn-in can receive the main rewards.
The reward structure has also changed:
Players now receive the Arcanite Fishing Rod.
Winners receive an Extravaganza Coin.
Coins can be spent at the new Derby shop.
Available rewards include the Hook of the Master Angler, water-walking boots, Fishing Hat transmog, Bucket Hat transmog, and a pet.
Extra Speckled Tastyfish can also be exchanged for money or Messages in a Bottle containing random crafting recipes.
The biggest long-term reward may be the Master Angler buff. Winning the Derby grants access to the Master Angler title for one week, meaning players must continue winning if they want to keep using it.
5. Rare Fishing Gear Could Become a Major Endgame Feature
There is also a potentially huge Fishing system that remains unconfirmed.
A rumor suggests that extremely rare gear could drop directly from Fishing, including Lefay's Ring of Precise Spell Power, reportedly providing 100 damage and healing and being usable from level one.
However, this has not been confirmed by the developers.
If rare Fishing equipment does exist, making these rewards Bind on Pickup could also reduce their usefulness to bots while giving dedicated Fishers meaningful progression.
For now, this should be treated as a possibility rather than confirmed WoW Forever content.
6. New WoW Forever Zones Give Fishers More Places to Explore
The new zones also create additional Fishing locations:
Zephris Isle: Low-level open-water Fishing with familiar starter fish.
Riverglades: Around level 40, with Fishing similar to Stranglethorn Vale.
Mount Hydrol: A high-altitude Fishing location around the Summit of Eternity.
Shenrolis: A small Fishing pond surrounded by dangerous enemies.
Doran: Players can fish in the city fountain and potentially explore Fishing opportunities in the sewers.
The new zones do not currently appear to introduce completely new fish everywhere, but they provide more Fishing spots and another reason for profession players to explore the world.
7. WoW Forever Fishing Is Much Bigger Than It Looks
The beta shows that Fishing in WoW Forever is becoming more than a simple side profession. New crafts, Legacy bonuses, Derby rewards, Cooking effects, potential rare loot, and Fishing locations all give players more reasons to keep casting.
However, this information comes from the early beta, so some systems may change before release and additional Fishing content could still be discovered.
For dedicated Fishers, the full launch may reveal that the profession has even more surprises waiting below the surface.
