Summary:
World of Warcraft: Forever is launching as a fresh Classic-style experience with new characters, expanded zones, nine new dungeons, the Skyborne race, new skills and talents, and additional race and class combinations. The beta begins on September 17, 2026, followed by the full release on November 4. Blizzard also plans multiple content updates through 2027, including new raids, dungeons, quests, Hardcore mode, PvP seasons, profession updates, WOW Forever Gold, and expanded world content.
1. WoW Forever Release Date and Launch
WoW Forever enters beta on September 17, 2026, before launching on November 4, 2026. The game starts fresh, with players creating new characters and leveling from 1.
The permanent maximum level is 60, so future progression can focus on new adventures, gear, skills, talents, quests, and world content instead of repeatedly raising the level cap.
The launch also brings updated world visuals, additional race and class combinations, new quests, and expanded zones.
2. Skyborne and New Zones
The Skyborne is a new playable race available to both Horde and Alliance. Both factions can choose Warrior, Hunter, Rogue, or Druid. Horde Skyborne can also become Shamans, while Alliance Skyborne can become Mages. Their racial abilities vary slightly depending on faction.
Four new zones are available at launch. Mount Hyjal is an endgame leveling area set after Archimonde's defeat, while Shen'Dralas explores mysteries involving the Shen'dralar, Eldre’Thalas, Dire Maul, and nearby centaur tribes.
Riverglades is designed for players around levels 35-45 and features rivers, grasslands, trade routes, communities, and old conflicts. Zephras Isle is a starter zone for characters up to level 12 and is home to the Zephras.
3. Nine New Dungeons
WoW Forever launches with nine new dungeons covering different level ranges:
Hall of Thanes: 13-18
Ruins of Lordaeron: 15-20
Excavation Site: 24-29
City of Dalaran: 28-33
The Drowned City: 35-40
Krol'Dok Stronghold: 40-45
Alcaz Island Prison: 48-53
Blackmaw Hold: 55-60
Shaper's Terrace: 58-60
This spread gives players additional dungeon choices throughout the leveling process, including several options for the endgame.
4. December 2026 Content
The first major post-launch update is scheduled for December 9, 2026. It adds three new raids: Barrow Deeps, Hyjal Summit, and Onyxia's Lair.
This update gives level-60 players additional raid progression shortly after launch and expands the endgame beyond the initial dungeon experience.
5. 2026-2027 Roadmap
Hardcore mode is planned for Winter 2026. In Spring 2027, WoW Forever is expected to receive two new raids, two new dungeons, new quests, a playable area, a new legendary questline, World of Warcraft: Forever Gold, and a PvP season refresh.
The Summer 2027 update is planned to add a revamped iconic raid, another new raid, expanded world content, another PvP season refresh, and updates to professions and legacy systems.
Blizzard has also indicated that future releases can include additional dungeons, raids, quests, playable areas, and legendary content. While exact details and dates may change, the roadmap shows that WoW Forever is designed to expand beyond its November launch while keeping the level cap at 60.
