The Ornery Plainstrider is one of the more surprising discoveries. Most Plainstriders tested had a 2.0 attack speed, but this version had 1.3. As a Plainstrider, it can learn the new Dust Cloud ability, which reduces the target's armor, as well as Bite.
4. Ghost Saber
The Ghost Saber is found in northern Darkshore near the Ruins of Mathystra. Hunters need to interact with the cat figurines and wait for a Ghost Saber to appear. Its semi-transparent model becomes especially impressive while stealthed. It has a 2.0 attack speed and can learn Bite and Claw, with Prowl becoming available at a higher level.
5. Raptor
Raptors tested in the Barrens had a 2.0 attack speed. Their special addition is Savage Rend, a new pet ability that deals damage over time. Raptors can also learn Bite and Claw, giving them multiple Focus-spending abilities.
6. Hecklefang Hyena
The Hecklefang Hyena introduces Tendon Rip. The ability deals damage and slows the target by 50% for nine seconds on a 30-second cooldown. Because the pet can reach targets independently, it can provide useful control around corners or outside the Hunter's direct range.
7. Wind Serpent
Wind Serpents have Lightning Breath, an instant ranged attack costing 50 Focus. The pet can repeatedly cast it without moving while it has enough Focus. Different color variants can also be found in Wailing Caverns. Bite can be learned, although this may cause the pet to move into melee after using Lightning Breath.
8. Scorpid
A level 21 Scorpid was successfully tamed during the Beta even though the usual rule limits Hunters to creatures at or below their level. A level 22 attempt was also made but failed. This appears to be a Beta-specific exception and may not remain at launch.
9. Rake
Rake is a rare Cat found in Mulgore. Its 1.2 attack speed is currently among the fastest available in the Beta. The Faster Attack 6 passive reportedly provides a 67% attack-speed bonus. Rake can learn Bite, Growl, Prowl, and Claw, but these abilities must be trained before taming.
10. Slavering Worg
