1. Understand the Ascending the Mountain Project

Ascending the Mountain launched on September 8, 2026, with Update 1.45.0 and runs until October 5. The Project has four stages, each requiring four different items. You can work on multiple Projects at once, so check your stash before starting dedicated farming runs.

The story follows mysterious ARC signals coming from the mountains north of the current Tube network. Apollo is developing experimental transportation that could help Raiders reach areas the Tubes cannot access, connecting the Project to the upcoming Frozen Trail update.

2. Complete Stage 1 and Stage 2

Stage 1: Research High-Altitude Mechanics requires 10 Mechanical Components, 6 Pop Triggers, 10 Explosive Compound, and 2 Headphones. Most of these are common materials, so you may already have them in your stash.

Stage 2: Begin Ignition Tests requires 20 Wires, 8 Voltage Converters, 2 Sentinel Firing Cores, and 1 Rocket Thruster. The Rocket Thruster is the main bottleneck because it is rare Exodus loot found around Rocket Assembly areas on Stella Montis and Spaceport. Save one whenever you find it.

3. Prepare for Stage 3 and Stage 4

Stage 3: Implement Landing Capabilities needs 2 Ruined Parachutes, 10 Crash Mats, 5 Shredder Gyros, and 3 Breathtaking Snow Globes. Snow Globes are Epic trinkets and can be difficult to replace. Bird City is useful because Bird Nests can contain them, while residential areas in Buried City are another option.

Stage 4: Final Tweaks is the largest requirement, using 51 of the Project's 130 total items. You need 30 Sensors, 3 Broken Guidance Systems, 15 Advanced Electrical Components, and 3 Vaporizer Regulators.

If you craft all 15 Advanced Electrical Components, you need 45 Wires and 30 Electrical Components. Broken Guidance Systems can be found in industrial and Exodus loot, while Vaporizer Regulators come from Vaporizers. Close Scrutiny is especially useful for farming them.

4. Collect the Best Rewards

Completing each stage immediately grants rewards. Stage 1 gives Burletta, Extended Light Mag III, and Silencer III. Stage 2 rewards Wolfpacks, Deadlines, Trailblazers, and a Crash Mat Blueprint.

Stage 3 provides a Powered Descender, Raider Hatch Keys, Rascal, and Launcher Ammo. Stage 4 offers a Tactical Mk. 3 (Defensive), Tempest, Kinetic Converter, and the unique Hot Air Balloon Charm.

The Crash Mat Blueprint is particularly useful because it arrives before Stage 3 asks for 10 Crash Mats.

5. Farm Efficiently and Prepare Early

Do not wait until the final stage to start collecting materials. Save Sensors, Wires, Rocket Thrusters, Snow Globes, Broken Guidance Systems, ARC Raiders Items for sale, and Vaporizer Regulators whenever possible.

If you are participating in Expedition 5, remember that departing resets your inventory. Since Project rewards are granted when stages are completed, consider leaving an easy contribution unfinished if you plan to depart soon.

Ascending the Mountain is worth completing for active Raiders because it combines useful equipment, a blueprint, keys, and a unique cosmetic reward. Most importantly, there is currently no confirmation that completing the Project is required to access Frozen Trail. Treat it as a limited-time progression and story Project rather than a confirmed update unlock requirement.
