Diablo II Resurrected Mar-17-2026 PST

In Diablo II: Resurrected, Act III takes players deep into the jungles of Kurast, where dense environments, dangerous enemies, and layered quests create one of the most memorable segments of the game. One of the important quests during this act is The Blade of the Old Religion. While it is not mandatory for story progression, completing it provides valuable rewards and helps players strengthen their character before tackling tougher challenges later in the act.

Diablo 2 Resurrected: How to Complete The Blade of the Old Religion Quest

This guide explains how to start the quest, where to find the Pygmy Village in the Flayer Jungle, how to defeat the target enemy, and how to claim the rewards efficiently.

Starting The Blade of the Old Religion Quest

The Blade of the Old Religion quest begins in Kurast Docks after you speak with Hratli, the local blacksmith.Hratli tells you about an ancient religious artifact called the Gidbinn, a ceremonial dagger revered by a jungle tribe.According to Hratli, the dagger has been stolen or lost within the dangerous regions of the Flayer Jungle.

Your objective is to travel into the jungle and locate the Pygmy Village where the dagger is hidden.Once recovered, the artifact must be returned so it can be studied and protected.

Finding the Flayer Jungle

To reach the quest objective, players must progress through several areas of Act III.From Kurast Docks, the usual route is:

Spider Forest

Great Marsh (sometimes skipped depending on map generation)

Flayer Jungle

The jungle maps are randomized, so the layout changes each play through. However, the Flayer Jungle always contains the entrance to the Flayer Dungeon as well as the Pygmy Village needed for this quest.

While navigating the jungle, expect large groups of enemies including Flayers, Fetishes, Shamans, and various jungle beasts. These monsters can swarm players quickly, making crowd control and positioning very important.

Locating the Pygmy Village

Within the Flayer Jungle you must search for the Pygmy Village. This area is recognizable by clusters of huts, wooden structures, and a large ritual area in the center.

In the middle of the village you will find a small altar-like structure where the Gidbinn dagger is embedded.Interacting with the dagger will trigger the next phase of the quest.

Be prepared before activating it because enemies will immediately spawn.

Defeating the Guardian

Once the dagger is removed from the altar, a unique monster called Witch Doctor Endugu appears along with several minions. This boss is the primary guardian of the Gidbinn.

Witch Doctor Endugu is usually surrounded by multiple Flayers and can have dangerous modifiers depending on difficulty level.Players should eliminate surrounding enemies first if possible to avoid being overwhelmed.

Ranged characters can kite the boss around the village while melee builds should focus on isolating him from the pack.Using area-of-effect skills is particularly effective here because of the number of small enemies present.

After defeating Witch Doctor Endugu, the Gidbinn dagger will drop on the ground.Pick it up to complete the main objective of the quest.

Returning to Kurast Docks

With the dagger in your inventory, return to Kurast Docks and speak with Ormus. He will take the Gidbinn and reward you with a magical ring. The ring's properties are randomized, meaning it can roll a variety of useful bonuses such as resistances, attributes, or attack-related stats.

Although the reward is not guaranteed to be powerful, it can be a helpful early upgrade for many builds.

After speaking with Ormus, you can also talk to Ashaera. If you do not currently have a mercenary companion, she will offer you a free Iron Wolf mercenary.Iron Wolves are Act III mercenaries who use elemental magic and can provide additional support during combat.

Quest Rewards

A magical ring from Ormus with random attributes

Access to a free Iron Wolf mercenary from Ashaera if you do not already have a hireling

Experience from defeating Witch Doctor Endugu and his minions

Tips for Completing the Quest Efficiently

The Flayer Jungle is known for dense enemy packs.Skills that deal area damage or crowd control can significantly speed up the fight.

Keep an eye on Flayer Shamans. These enemies can resurrect fallen minions, which prolongs combat if they are not eliminated quickly.

Use waypoint checkpoints. If you find the Flayer Jungle waypoint before locating the village, it will make returning much easier.

Prepare before activating the altar.Clearing nearby enemies first reduces the chance of being overwhelmed when the boss appears.

Final Thoughts

The Blade of the Old Religion quest is a classic Diablo II side mission that combines exploration, combat, and rewarding loot.By traveling through the dangerous Flayer Jungle, locating the Pygmy Village, and defeating Witch Doctor Endugu, players can obtain useful rewards that help strengthen their character during Act III.

Although the quest is optional, it is worth completing for the experience, the chance at a useful magical ring, D2R items and the opportunity to recruit an Iron Wolf mercenary. With careful navigation and preparation, the quest can be completed quickly and safely while progressing through Diablo II: Resurrected.
