Diablo 4 Patch 3.1.1 Guide: Save These Items NOW Before the July 14 Buff
Summary
Patch 3.1.1 arrives Tuesday, July 14, 2026, bringing significant changes to Mythic drops, superior keys, and Pandemonium Fragments. This patch addresses the biggest community pain point: Iconic Mythics were nearly impossible to find due to bugs and bad RNG, which also made it harder to acquire valuable gear without resorting to buying cheap Diablo IV Items from third-party sellers. Here's what's changing and what you should be saving to maximize your farming efficiency.
Your Pre-Patch Checklist
What to Save (Critical!)
Lair Boss Keys — Do NOT use them before Tuesday. Post-patch Mythic drops will be significantly better, and any keys spent now are essentially wasted.
Glints of Hope Caches — Do NOT open these. After the patch, they will guarantee Pandemonium Fragments. Currently they only have a chance. If you have any sitting unopened, hold them.
Pandemonium Fragments — Do NOT spend these. The upgrade cost drops from 5 to 4 fragments after the patch, giving you a 20% discount on every Mythic upgrade.
Superior Lair Keys — If you have these, save them. They're better used on post-patch Corrupted Reaper kills.
What to Farm Before Tuesday
Glints of Hope Caches are easily farmed in Hell Tides right now. Stack as many as possible before the patch—they will guarantee fragments afterward. Many players are sitting on 600+ and planning to farm thousands more.
Lair Boss Keys should be farmed now but saved for later. The post-patch Mythic drop rates will be far superior.
Post-Patch Farming Priority
1. Farm Deathtoll Chambers First
Deathtoll Chambers were bugged and completely worthless before this patch. After July 14, they will always reward at least one Superior Lair Key at high Torment levels. This is your new primary farming target.
Superior Keys are used to fight the Corrupted Reaper, which is the best source for both Mythic Uniques and Pandemonium Fragments in the game. More keys equal more boss kills equal more Mythics.
2. Kill the Corrupted Reaper
This boss now drops up to two Pandemonium Fragments instead of one, scaling with Torment level. If you're opening both chests at Torment 12, you're getting four fragments per kill. This doubles your fragment income overnight.
The Corrupted Reaper also has a very high chance of dropping Mythics in general, and those Mythic drop rates are getting buffed even further.
3. Cash In Your Glints of Hope
After the patch, every repeatable Glints of Hope cache will guarantee a Pandemonium Fragment. This is a massive change from the current system where fragments were only a chance.
Farm Hell Tides aggressively before Tuesday to stockpile these caches. They're easy to acquire and will become incredibly rewarding after the patch.
4. Upgrade Your Mythics in the Cube
With the cost reduced from 5 to 4 fragments, this is now the most efficient way to turn your extra gear into Resplendent Sparks and eventually crafted Mythics. Every upgrade is now 20% cheaper.
What's Actually Changing
The Mythic Problem: Finally Fixed
Season 14's Mythic overhaul made nearly every Unique eligible to drop as a Mythic. In theory, this increased build diversity. In practice, it flooded the Mythic pool while making the powerful Iconic Mythics—The Grandfather, Harlequin Crest, Heir of Perdition, and others—feel nearly impossible to find.
One streamer killed over 2,000 Lair Bosses and found 100+ regular Mythics but zero Iconic Mythics. This was the result of two separate issues being fixed in this patch.
First, there was a bug preventing certain sources of Uniques—including Lair Bosses—from dropping Mythics entirely. Some drops that should have been Mythics were literally being blocked.
Second, the odds of naturally dropped Mythics rolling as Iconic Mythics are now being increased. Combined with the bug fix, this should significantly improve your chances of finding the OG Mythics.
El'druin, Sword of Justice
This weapon has been added to the Blacksmith's Mythic Cache. It was previously unobtainable there, so if you've been trying to get one, the Blacksmith is now a viable source.
What's NOT Changing
The "only one crafted Mythic equipped" restriction remains in place. This means if you craft a Ring of Starless Skies, you still cannot equip another crafted Mythic like a Harlequin Crest. The crafted limit is a fundamental design choice, not a bug.
This creates a frustrating situation where the seasonal system gives you thousands of fragments that can only create crafted items, while Iconic Mythics can only be found through drops. Either way, one of the two resources ends up feeling useless.
Class Bug Fixes
This is NOT a balance patch. Classes receiving bug fixes only:
Spiritborn
Stinger fixed: occasionally dealing more damage than intended — this results in a damage reduction
Fiery Soul VFX issue fixed
Wyrdskin gloves disappearance issue fixed
Barbarian
Challenging Shout's Bawl Variant now decays correctly
Druid
Storm Shepherd's Call Talisman Set no longer causes toggled skills to gain unintended damage
Rogue
Shadow Clone Shrine effects fixed (was spawning extra Soul Eaters in Deathtoll Chamber)
Warlock
Soul Shard clarity improvements
Brutal Aspect tooltip now calculates correctly
Mefis set bonuses fixed
Paladin
Holy damage now correctly displays in Stats and Materials tab
Sorcerer and Necromancer receive no changes.
What's STILL Broken After This Patch
Several major issues remain unaddressed:
Class balance is still a mess. Rogues have infinite damage bugs that let them speed-farm Pit 150. Spiritborn has 600% extra damage from another bug. Meanwhile, Paladin and Warlock are struggling to clear Pit 130, which is essentially a speedrun for every other class.
The one crafted Mythic limit remains unchanged, despite community frustration. The game essentially forces you to choose between using the seasonal system or using Iconic Mythics.
The Pit boss bubble bug is still present.
The Mephisto camera bug remains unfixed.
The "Upgrade to Mythic" recipe still produces a random item rather than being a true upgrade.
Final Strategy
Before Tuesday: Farm Lair Boss keys and Glints of Hope caches. Do NOT use or open anything.
After Tuesday: Run Deathtoll Chambers for Superior Lair Keys. Kill the Corrupted Reaper for fragments and Mythics. Open your Glints of Hope caches for guaranteed fragments. Upgrade your Mythics in the cube with the reduced cost.
This patch should make Mythic farming noticeably more rewarding. If you've been frustrated by the lack of Iconic Mythics, Tuesday is the day to start farming again. The bug fix plus increased Iconic odds should create real improvement.
The class balance issues will likely need to wait for Season 15, but for now, the Mythic economy is finally getting the fixes it desperately needed.
