Diablo 4 Season 14 Gem Farming Guide: Fastest Way to Farm Grand and Horadric Gems

Diablo4 Jul-07-2026 PST

Summary

Gems have become one of the most powerful ways to increase damage in Diablo 4 due to the massive multipliers they now provide. However, the highest ranks-Grand, Horadric, and especially Flawless Horadric gems-can take a long time to acquire.

For months, Seer's Reach has been considered the best gem farm in the game. Thanks to Season 14 changes, a new method has emerged that can earn enough fragments for multiple Grand gems in a single run. This guide covers the fastest way to farm gems, whether just entering Torment or pushing Torment 10.

 Diablo4

Part 1: Seer's Reach - The Early Torment Farm

Location and Setup

If still progressing through early Torment tiers, Seer's Reach remains one of the best farms available. Head east from Temenos into Félios-Seer's Reach is the first dungeon there.

The Run

The dungeon is incredibly simple. The only objective is to locate the boss's room and defeat the boss. Upon doing so, three Royal gems drop with a chance for a Grand gem to be one of those three.

The Repeat Farming Trick

After killing the boss, place a map pin just outside the boss area so the character cannot actually walk over it. Leave the dungeon, open the quest journal, and select Reset Dungeon. Re-enter and the dungeon is reset. The pin placed in the previous run remains and acts as a compass leading directly back to the boss room, making repeated runs significantly faster.

When to Use Seer's Reach

Seer's Reach becomes available as soon as Torment 1 is reached, making it an excellent way to start building a collection of Royal and Grand gems. Some dungeons technically drop more gems per clear, such as the Enclave of Darkness capstone dungeon, but Seer's Reach is so fast to complete that it still wins on gems per minute.

Part 2: Escalating Nightmare Dungeons - The Endgame Farm

Why Nightmare Dungeons Are Now the Best

Once reaching higher Torment levels, particularly Torment 10, escalating Nightmare Dungeons have become the strongest source of gem fragments. This is especially true when encountering Nightmare Dungeons with a Gem Reserve affix.

Gem Reserve Affix

The rare affixes that target a specific gem type-for example, Emerald Reserve-contain special chests that award massive amounts of gem fragments. A normal Gem Reserve dungeon can easily award around one million fragments in a single run, enough to craft a Grand gem.

Escalating Dungeon Scaling

Escalating Nightmare Dungeons provide increased rewards on the second and third dungeon floors. If one of those floors rolls Gem Reserve, individual chests can reward up to 250,000 gem fragments. This means a single escalating Nightmare Dungeon can generate enough fragments for multiple Grand gems.

The downside is that getting Gem Reserve floors in an escalating Nightmare Dungeon is completely RNG. However, War Plans can help with exactly that.

Branching Pathways Node

Under the Nightmare Dungeon tree, invest three points and head directly down the center path toward the Branching Pathways node. This node causes three portals to appear at the end of each floor, allowing selection between multiple modifiers for the next dungeon tier.

Benefits:

Additional opportunities to select Gem Reserve floors

Ability to chain multiple Gem Reserve dungeons together in a single run

If everything lines up perfectly, a single escalating Nightmare Dungeon can provide enough fragments to craft roughly 10 Grand gems.

Obtaining Escalating Sigils

If escalating Nightmare sigils are not yet available, place five regular Nightmare sigils into the Horadric Cube and transmute them. This creates an escalating Nightmare sigil, allowing continued farming. Think twice before salvaging all those Nightmare Dungeon sigils that are dropping.

Group Play

Playing in a group provides more rewards throughout these dungeons. For players without the activity nodes in the Nightmare Dungeon tree, grouping with others can help progress faster.

Part 3: Fragment Conversion at the Jeweler

The Conversion Process

Once a large number of fragments have been accumulated, they are likely spread across several different gem types. Season 14 made converting fragments a bit easier than before.

Visit the jeweler and navigate to the rightmost tab-the Jewel Crafting tab. Here, unwanted fragments can be converted into the gem type actually needed.

Conversion Rate

The conversion is one-to-one, but there is a cost. For every 300 fragments spent, only 200 of the desired fragment type are received. This means approximately 33% of the fragments are lost during the conversion process.

When to Convert

Only convert fragments that are confidently not needed for future gem upgrades. If focusing on a specific damage type for weapons, have a good idea of what gems are wanted on pants and jewelry to avoid accidentally spending them.

Part 4: Recommended Farming Strategy

Low Torment (1-7)

Method: Seer's Reach

Why: Quick and consistent Royal and Grand gems

Time: Fast runs with compass trick

High Torment (8-12)

Method: Escalating Nightmare Dungeons with Gem Reserve affix

Why: Multiple Grand gems per run

Setup: Branching Pathways War Plan node

Fragment Optimization

Convert excess fragments at the jeweler

Prioritize the gem types needed for the current build

Avoid converting fragments that may be needed later

Key Takeaways

Seer's Reach is the best early Torment gem farm

The map pin trick speeds up Seer's Reach runs significantly

Escalating Nightmare Dungeons with Gem Reserve are the best endgame gem farm

Branching Pathways War Plan node provides more chances for Gem Reserve floors

A single escalating run can provide enough fragments for 10 Grand gems

Fragment conversion costs approximately 33% of fragments

Convert only excess fragments that won't be needed for future upgrades

Conclusion

Season 14 offers two excellent gem farming methods depending on progression level. Seer's Reach provides quick and consistent Royal and Grand gems for early Torment players, while escalating Nightmare Dungeons with Gem Reserve affixes generate enough fragments for multiple Grand gems in a single run.

The Branching Pathways War Plan node is essential for maximizing the chance of finding Gem Reserve floors in escalations. Converting excess fragments at the jeweler helps craft Horadric and Flawless Horadric gems faster, though the 33% conversion cost should be kept in mind. Having enough Diablo 4 Gold can also be very helpful.

With the right strategy, players can farm gems efficiently at any stage of the game and craft the powerful gems needed for endgame builds. Good luck, and happy farming.
