Diablo 4 Season 14 Ultimate Gem Farm Guide: 9 Royal Gems Every 2 Minutes

Diablo4 Jul-04-2026 PST

Summary

The Season 14 gem grind has been significantly improved, with increased fragment drops in Torment X and above, plus no-loss conversion recipes at the Jeweler. But if you want to take gem farming to the absolute extreme, there's a method that can yield up to nine Royal Gems per run, many of which can be Grand Gems—and you can repeat it infinitely. This guide breaks down the Ultimate Nemesis Layer farm, the most efficient gem farming method in Season 14, which also generates valuable resources you can sell for Diablo 4 Gold to fuel other upgrades.

What Makes This Farm So Powerful

The Ultimate Nemesis Layer is the final tier of a multi-layered boss gauntlet introduced through the War Plans system . The progression works like this:

Layer Bosses (2x2 node) → Greater Nemesis Layer → Ultimate Nemesis Layer

Each layer requires RNG to trigger the next portal, but once you reach the Ultimate Nemesis Layer, you've hit the jackpot. The boss there drops an absurd amount of loot, including up to nine Royal Gems in a single kill. And with the right technique, you can farm this boss infinitely .

Prerequisites

War Plans Nodes

In the Layer Boss section of your War Plans, you need exactly three nodes:

2x2 – Enables Nemesis Layer portals

Greater Nemesis – Enables Greater Nemesis Layer portals

Ultimate Nemesis – Enables the Ultimate Nemesis Layer (requires 5 Betrayer's Husks to enter)

You don't need any other nodes for this farm.

A Friend

This method requires a second player. The friend needs to be on a different Torment difficulty than you. For example, if you're on Torment 12, they should be on Torment 11 or Torment 10.

Step 1: Reach the Ultimate Nemesis Layer

To get started, you need to kill Layer Bosses and open loot chests. Each chest has a chance to spawn a Nemesis Portal. Enter it, kill the bosses inside, and there's a chance another portal will open to the Greater Nemesis Layer. Kill those bosses, then interact with the altar and spend 5 Betrayer's Husks to enter the Ultimate Nemesis Layer .

Important: Nemesis portals are on a timer—only about 30 seconds to enter before they disappear . Don't go to town mid-loot; grab what you can and take the portal immediately.

Step 2: Set Up the Infinite Farm

Once you're inside the Ultimate Nemesis Layer with your party, follow these steps carefully:

1. Have your friend join you on a different Torment level. If you're on Torment 12, they should be on Torment 11.

2. Kill the Ultimate Nemesis boss and loot the gems.

3. Have your friend leave the party. When they leave, they'll be teleported to their own version of the Ultimate Nemesis Layer at their Torment difficulty (Torment 11, for example). That instance will be reset with the boss alive .

4. Join your friend in their instance. You're now in a lower-Torment version of the Ultimate Nemesis Layer. You can kill this boss too, but it won't drop any loot (your character is flagged from the previous kill).

5. Leave your friend's party. This teleports you back to your original Torment 12 difficulty, and the dungeon resets. Your boss is back.

Step 3: The Reset Trick

Now you're in your reset Torment 12 instance, and you need to set up the boss so it drops gems properly. Here's the key maneuver:

1. Enter the boss arena and damage the boss by at least 20% of its health.

2. Leave the boss area quickly. You need to exit before the fog wall appears, trapping you inside. If you're too slow, just die and try again. For immortal builds, remove your defensive mythic items so you can die when needed.

3. Wait for the fog wall to disappear. After a few seconds, it will vanish.

4. Re-enter the boss arena and kill the boss. Only the first boss (Azmadan) will be there.

5. Loot the gems—up to nine Royal Gems, with many being Grand Gems.

Step 4: Repeat the Loop

To farm this boss infinitely, repeat this sequence:

Join your friend in their lower-Torment Ultimate Nemesis Layer (they should be standing there waiting).

Leave the party, teleporting back to your Torment 12 instance.

Damage the boss to 20% and leave before the fog wall.

Re-enter and kill the boss for the gem drop.

Repeat from step 1.

Important: Your friend must stay in their instance throughout the entire process. They only need to be present to help reset the dungeon.

How Many Gems Can You Get?

During this farm, each successful boss kill yields:

Up to 9 Royal Gems

Many of these can be Grand Gems

Since each run takes about 2 minutes once you're set up, this is dramatically faster than traditional gem farming methods like Seer's Reach .

Tips for Success

Practice the 20% damage exit. This is the most technical part of the farm. You need to deal 20% damage and get out fast. If the fog wall catches you, die and try again.

Share the loot with your friend. They're doing you a big favor by staying in the lower-Torment instance. Consider splitting the gems at the end.

Use a loot filter. With so many gems dropping, you'll want a strict filter to quickly identify the highest-value items .

Prepare multiple runs. Since the farm relies on RNG to initially reach the Ultimate Nemesis Layer, run many Layer Bosses to increase your chances of getting there .

Season 14 Context

Season 14 made gem farming significantly easier overall. Gem fragment drops in Torment X and above are "significantly increased," and conversion recipes at the Jeweler now use only two gem types with no loss . However, the Ultimate Nemesis Layer farm remains the absolute fastest method for high-tier gems because it bypasses the fragment grind entirely and delivers crafted gems directly .

Final Thoughts

The Ultimate Nemesis Layer gem farm requires setup and a cooperative friend, but the payoff is enormous. With up to nine Royal Gems dropping every two minutes, and many being Grand Gems, this method outpaces every other gem farming option in Season 14. If you'd rather skip the grind altogether, you can always buy Diablo 4 Gold from MMOEXP to fast-track your progression—but for those who enjoy farming, this strategy offers unmatched returns and a genuinely rewarding experience.
