Summary

Diablo 4 Season 15 is almost here, and the PTR already gives us a strong picture of which classes are worth playing. This ranking is preliminary because the final patch notes could still change several builds, bugs, and balance interactions.

The ranking below considers more than raw damage. It weighs new build options, build diversity, leveling, endgame progression, Pit pushing, speed farming, bossing, ease of play, group utility, and Hardcore viability.

The current PTR shows a clear divide: Warlock, Barbarian, and Rogue are the strongest overall classes, while the other five need more investment or depend on specific builds and interactions. To test your chosen class, buy Diablo 4 Gold and secure the essential items you need without the grind.

S Tier

Warlock

Warlock is the strongest class on the Season 15 PTR.

This is shaping up to be the real Warlock season. The class received numerous improvements, bug fixes, smoother mechanics, and longer timers. More importantly, Warlock now has several genuinely strong and distinct builds rather than relying on one dominant setup.

Potential options include Blazing Scream, Apocalypse, Terror Swarm, minion builds, Profane Sentinel totems, and multiple core-skill setups.

PTR testing showed Warlock builds completing Pit 150 extremely quickly. Some of the fastest results were helped by an interaction involving the Splinter of the Black Soul Stone and Warlock kill effects, which is unlikely to remain unchanged on the live server. Even without that interaction, Warlock's underlying power is high enough to remain a top-tier pushing class.

The main weakness is mobility and complexity. Warlock can require careful resource management, timing, legendary Paragon interactions, and ability management. Nevertheless, several builds are now much easier to play, including setups that function almost like one-button or walking-simulator builds.

Best for: High-end pushing, bossing, raw power, build variety.

A Tier

Barbarian

Barbarian remains one of the strongest classes, but Season 15 makes it more interesting because more builds are becoming viable.

Besides the familiar powerful setups, players can explore Hammer of the Ancients, Upheaval, Rend, Death Blow, Charge, and other core-skill builds. The gap between Barbarian builds is narrowing, giving players more reasons to experiment instead of simply returning to the same setup.

Barbarian is also excellent for leveling. Frenzy Throw provides a smooth early option, while resource-focused strategies can make progression especially comfortable.

For endgame pushing, Charge is expected to be one of the leading choices and could approach the highest Pit tiers. Barbarian's combination of damage, healing, defenses, and simplicity also makes it one of the best Hardcore classes.

Most importantly, Barbarian is arguably the easiest class to pilot. If you want a powerful character without constantly watching cooldowns and resources, it is an outstanding choice.

Best for: Easy gameplay, Hardcore, strong defenses, reliable endgame progression.

Rogue

If Barbarian is the easiest powerful class, Rogue is the most flexible.

Almost everything on Rogue already works. Barrage, Penetrating Shot, Dance of Knives, and numerous other setups are capable of performing well, giving Rogue arguably the best build diversity in the game.

Rogue is also the standout leveling and speed-farming class. Its mobility and damage make it exceptionally fast, and Season 14's early Mephisto race demonstrated just how strong Rogue can be for rapid progression.

For high-end Season 15 pushing, Rain of Arrows is one of the most promising options. Changes such as the Azurewrath adjustments may affect individual builds, but they do not change Rogue's overall position.

Rogue is an especially good choice if you want to experiment. You can change builds frequently without sacrificing much performance.

Best for: Leveling, speed farming, build diversity, mobility, all-around gameplay.

B Tier

Sorcerer

Sorcerer is one of the biggest beneficiaries of Season 15's general power increas

The dominant Wall setup still appears to be the strongest high-end option, although changes mean it now relies on Pyromancy skills rather than the previous approach of simply stacking huge numbers of Lightning projectiles.

The more important improvement is that many previously weak Sorcerer builds are now approaching T12 viability. Fireball and other experimental setups can finally become worthwhile, while unusual builds that were previously impractical may now work because of the seasonal power boost.

Sorcerer is therefore a good choice for players who enjoy experimentation, even if it does not match the raw power of Warlock, Barbarian, or Rogue.

Spiritborn

Spiritborn remains heavily centered around Swarm/Counter Swarm, which is still its strongest overall setup.

There are other possibilities involving Touch of Death, Spirit Storms, basic skills, and core skills, but most do not feel as smooth or powerful as Swarm.

A major variable is the current sixth-bug interaction. If it remains, Spiritborn could perform at a much higher level and potentially compete for extremely high Pit tiers. If it is fixed, the class is expected to fall closer to Necromancer and Paladin territory.

For leveling, Rock Splitter Thorns is particularly effective. It can destroy the early game and carry the character into early Torment before eventually falling off.

Diablo 4 Gold

Necromancer

Necromancer does not receive a revolutionary new meta build, but Season 15 makes the class stronger and tankier.

Possible builds include Minions, Blood Wave, Bone Spirit, and Desecrated Ground variants. Most are not expected to compete with the strongest Warlock or Barbarian builds, but they become more comfortable because of the seasonal toughness increase.

Necromancer is particularly good at bossing. Several builds have strong burst or single-target damage, allowing them to handle bosses efficiently even while progressing and collecting their required uniques.

Paladin

Paladin remains a fairly middle-of-the-pack class in raw power.

Previously strong setups such as Zeal/Mind Lance remain viable, while Judgment, Holy builds, Wing Strikes, and Fist of Heavens provide additional options. Shield of Retribution is particularly attractive for raw damage and bossing.

The Paladin's biggest advantage is group utility. For organized group pushing, Paladin support is extremely valuable. A high-end four-player composition may use a Paladin support alongside another support-oriented class, with Barbarian also bringing useful pulling, tanking, shouts, and the new Elder execution effect.

So while Paladin is not among the strongest solo classes, its group value is exceptional.

C Tier

Druid

Druid is currently the weakest overall choice on the PTR.

Lacerate is one of the more promising new options, particularly when combined with resource scaling and the appropriate Paragon setup. Companion and Landslide builds may also have potential.

However, the class has lost considerable power. Several bugs remain, including problems with the Earth set, while Storm-related builds have been weakened. Other options largely resemble previous-season setups rather than providing something genuinely new.

Druid also has a particularly slow leveling experience. The class starts slowly before Spirit Boons become available, and its mobility is limited until significant cooldown investment allows stronger Trample-based movement.

Unless the final patch delivers substantial buffs and bug fixes, Druid is the class I would avoid for a Season 15 starter.

Best Classes by Activity

Best for Leveling

Rogue is the clear winner thanks to its speed and mobility.

Barbarian, Necromancer, Paladin, Sorcerer, and Spiritborn can also level effectively. Spiritborn's Rock Splitter Thorns and Necromancer's Minions are particularly easy early-game options. Druid and Warlock are slower because of mobility limitations.

Best for Endgame and Pit Pushing

Warlock has the highest ceiling, with Barbarian and Rogue close behind.

The strongest classes could potentially reach Pit 145–150, while weaker classes may settle around 135–140 at the very high end. These estimates are preliminary and depend heavily on final balance changes and seasonal mechanics.

Best for Speed Farming

Rogue, Spiritborn, and Barbarian are the fastest overall. Necromancer is also surprisingly mobile thanks to Sever.

Sorcerer can eventually become extremely fast with heavy Teleport and cooldown-reset investment, but reaching that level requires more setup.

Best for Bossing

Warlock and Necromancer stand out because of their strong single-target damage. Barbarian and Rogue are also reliable.

Spiritborn's boss performance depends heavily on whether the current bug survives, while Shield of Retribution makes Paladin a respectable bossing option.

Best for Hardcore

Barbarian is the safest overall choice because of its exceptional defenses and durability. Druid, Rogue, and Paladin also have strong defensive tools.

The current PTR shows a clear divide: Warlock, Barbarian, and Rogue are the strongest overall classes, while the other five need more investment or depend on specific builds and interactions. To test your chosen class, buy Diablo 4 Gold and secure the essential items you need without the grind.
