New Seasonal Systems

Soul Splinters Replace Traditional Gems

Season 15 introduces Soul Splinters, socketable items that replace standard gems in jewelry. Seven types span five rarities, from Common to Unique, and can be upgraded through the Horadric Cube.

Notable Splinters include:

Abyssal Splinter of the Mother — Grants Unhindered; touching enemies applies Vulnerable for 10 seconds. After touching 250 enemies, the player is stunned for 4 seconds—though Unstoppable effects bypass this downside.

Splinter of Anguish — Up to 35% Critical Strike Chance and Attack Speed, but increases primary resource costs by 30%. Builds with infinite resource generation can exploit this for massive gains.

Splinter of Sin — 40% bonus maximum health while reducing maximum primary resource by 30%. Resource-generating builds gain substantial survivability.

Splinter of Nice — 100% increased gold, material drop rates, and bonus experience at the cost of permanent Weak and Vulnerable status. Designed for dedicated farming builds.

Challenge Dungeons

Challenge Dungeons serve as the headline endgame activity. Special portals appear throughout Sanctuary—frequently during Helltide events—allowing players to face powerful bosses.

Key features include:

Boss difficulty scales up to three Torment levels above your current progression, enabling Torment 15 encounters.

Higher difficulty tiers promise significantly improved rewards.

Designed for well-geared endgame characters, encouraging strategic boss fights.

Overland Ambush Events

While exploring Sanctuary, players may receive a 30-second warning that a powerful demon has begun hunting them. Players can choose to flee or stand and fight. These encounters are described as testing "the mettle of Sanctuary's strongest warriors," suggesting substantial difficulty.

Legacy Uniques Return

Nine Legacy Uniques from Diablo 1, 2, and 3 return. All-class uniques include Leoric's Crown—which doubles helm gem effects—Nemesis Bracers, Stone of Jordan, and Squirt's Necklace. Class-specific options include Arioc's Needle, In-geom, The Furnace, and Mad Monarch's Scepter.

Mythic Item System Overhaul

Horadric Cube One-to-One Upgrades

The Horadric Cube now offers a direct one-to-one upgrade from a unique item to its Mythic version, preserving original affixes, Tempering, Masterworking, and existing rolls. Cube-upgraded Mythics receive a Crafted tag, and players may equip only one Crafted-tag item at a time.

Jeweler and Blacksmith Crafting

The Jeweler offers class-specific Mythic crafting by slot type, significantly reducing the item pool for targeted farming. Jeweler-crafted Mythics do not receive the Crafted tag. The Blacksmith offers random Mythic Uniques from the full pool as an alternative sink for Sparks.

Regular Unique Versions of Former Mythics

Several items previously exclusive to Mythic rarity now drop as standard Uniques, allowing more builds to obtain build-defining effects earlier. Mythic versions remain the strongest endgame option.

Mythic Unique Charms

Unique Charms have a low chance to drop as Mythic Unique Charms with 30% increased power. No crafting method exists, making them pure RNG drops that could heavily influence leaderboard rankings.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

Character Rebirth

Players can rebirth an Eternal character into a Seasonal character, preserving name, playtime, and cosmetics while resetting progression and equipment normally.

Horadric Post

The Horadric Post functions as an in-game mailbox for rewards and messages. During the PTR, early test rewards will be distributed through this system.

Class Balance Changes

Barbarian

Barbarian receives the largest overall nerfs. Core stat scaling drops from 1.1% damage per 10 Strength to 0.8%. Call of the Ancients, Rallying Cry, and bleed expertise builds see substantial reductions. Melted Heart of Selig, Wrathful Aspect, Ring of Ravenous, and Ramaladni's Magnum Opus all receive significant nerfs. Despite these reductions, Barbarian should remain viable through Torment progression thanks to new systems.

Druid

Druid gains core stat scaling improvements and human form bonuses—15% resource generation, 15% cooldown reduction, and 10% damage. Staff of the Crone increases from 80% to 150%, and Flesh Render boosts Tornado damage by 135%. However, Might of the Ursine drops from 13% to 4% damage per Resolve stack, severely impacting Werebear builds.

Necromancer

Necromancer receives core stat scaling improvements, boosting minions, Bone Spear, and Blood Wave damage. Sever, Bone Prison, and Blood Wave desecrated ground variants receive buffs. Necrotic Carapace now provides damage reduction and Fortify. However, core problems remain—Blood Surge, Bone Spirit, and Army of the Dead received no meaningful improvements. Necromancer remains one of the least improved classes.

Paladin

Paladin gains core stat scaling improvements and skill buffs to Holy Bolt, Blessed Shield, and Adjudicator's Oath. However, the class still struggles to compete with Rogue and Warlock at the highest endgame levels.

Rogue

Rogue appears safest heading into Season 15. Rain of Arrows remains untouched, preserving top-tier endgame performance. The 150 bug has been fixed, but core strengths remain intact. Rogue will likely remain one of the strongest all-around classes.

Sorcerer

Sorcerer gains core stat scaling and skill improvements. Ball Lightning can now be cast while moving. Frozen Orb consumes one Overpower stack to explode three times. Fireball's Frost Bow variant improves. However, Firewall is effectively dead, and Elemental Constellation—used by nearly every Sorcerer build—has been significantly nerfed. Overall class power may still trail behind Rogue and Warlock.

Spiritborn

Spiritborn sees the Zig Rune exploit fixed. Rock Splitter, Thunder Spike, Thrash, and Withering Fist receive buffs, while Counter Attack drops from 150% to 75%. A new Paragon Board—Repelling Swarm—offers swarm and storm skill bonuses.

Warlock

Warlock receives the largest buffs, positioning it as the clear winner. Destruction Demon's damage bonus increases from 4% to 6% per Hellfire skill cast. Sigil of Kaos, Dark Prison, and Bombardment can now be cast while moving. Evisceration Fragment damage rises to 5%, with Eviscerate scaling to 1000% of source damage. A new Glyph provides 30% bonus to magic nodes and increased Dominance regeneration. Elegy makes Blazing Stream's tiny skulls deal the same damage as the main skull—potentially enabling trillions of damage.

Final Thoughts

The Season 15 PTR presents a dramatically different landscape. Warlock emerges as the clear winner, while Rogue remains a safe choice. Barbarian—despite substantial nerfs—should still function effectively. Druid and Necromancer face uncertain futures, relying heavily on core stat scaling to offset limited upgrades.

New systems—Soul Splinters, Challenge Dungeons, and the Mythic crafting overhaul—add more endgame depth than raw power increases. Direct Mythic upgrades via the Horadric Cube represent a particularly significant improvement. For players looking to stay ahead of the curve, the option to buy Diablo 4 Items provides a convenient way to secure essential gear and prepare for the shifting meta.

With BlizzCon still on the horizon, players should treat the PTR as an early preview rather than the final Season 15 experience. Additional content remains unannounced and may substantially alter the current picture.
