Summary
Honkai: Star Rail 4.7 V1 has finally started, and one of the biggest questions for the new Elation lineup is simple: who will Nihilux replace?
The current Elation team already has several strong options, including Evanessia, Waven, Silverwolf, Yaoong, Elation MC, Sparksy, and Pearl. Nihilux does not simply arrive as another support. Her V1 kit points toward a sub-DPS role with strong Elation synergy, which could significantly change several existing team compositions.
Since this is only V1, all of these observations can still change. However, her current kit already gives us a good idea of where the 4.7 Elation meta could be heading. To prepare, buy Honkai: Star Rail Top Up and stock up on resources for the characters that define the new Elation teams.
Nihilux's V1 Role and Playstyle
Nihilux is primarily a sub-DPS, rather than a traditional support.
Her traces are heavily offensive, and her kit includes offensive Elation abilities, a normal skill, and follow-up attacks. This is important because it determines where she can fit into existing teams.
She also has direct synergy with Waven, while her support effects are relatively modest. Her skill provides Elation to an ally, while her talent contributes Crit DMG to the team.
Her main mechanic revolves around Wish Power.
Building Wish Power
Nihilux wants to reach eight stacks of Wish Power to use her Ultimate. She can gain Wish Power through several actions, including using her Technique, taking actions, using Elation skills, reaching certain Punchline thresholds, receiving healing or shielding, and having her marked ally take action.
Her Skill marks an ally as an Elation Emanator. That ally gains Elation and allows Nihilux to gain additional Wish Power whenever they act.
This gives players flexibility when choosing the marked character. A fast support can generate stacks quickly, but placing the mark on the main DPS can also make sense because of the additional offensive value.
At E0S0, the current expectation is roughly two rotations to reach her Ultimate, although better rotations may potentially reduce this.
What Happens When Nihilux Uses Her Ultimate?
The reason Nihilux wants to build Wish Power is her Ultimate and the effect that follows it.
After using her Ultimate, every Elation team member gains their own version of Aha. This is one of the most important parts of her V1 design because the effect is added to the individual Elation characters rather than being entirely contained within Nihilux herself.
That also creates room for future Elation characters to have their own Aha interactions.
Nihilux additionally interacts with Punchline and Certified Banger. She refunds part of the Punchline consumed by the team, while another part of her kit introduces Elation Death, allowing Elation damage to permanently reduce an enemy's maximum HP under the specified conditions.
She also records a portion of an Aha instance's damage and deals it later.
Taken together, these mechanics make her personal damage an important part of her value.
Evanessia Is a Major Winner
Among the current Elation characters, Evanessia appears to benefit particularly well from Nihilux's V1 kit.
Her Aha gives her several useful improvements.
First, she can gain overflow energy. This addresses a major issue for Evanessia players who sometimes generate too much energy and have to use their Ultimate before the next Aha instance. Doing so could previously mean losing a significant amount of vulnerability.
The new interaction reduces that problem.
Evanessia also receives additional Defense Reduction for her Ultimate. At lower investment, this provides a noticeable damage increase, while higher Nihilux investment makes the interaction considerably stronger.
The Banger Interaction
The most interesting part may be how Evanessia interacts with Nihilux's participant ID.
Because of the order in which their Banger effects are processed, Evanessia does not immediately take Nihilux's Banger after an Aha instance. That can leave more Certified Banger available for Nihilux's own attacks.
This creates a strong interaction between the two characters.
Based on the V1 analysis, Evanessia can potentially gain substantially more personal damage from this setup than alternative partners. For that reason, replacing Evanessia does not appear to be the goal.
Yaoong and Elation MC Are in Trouble
If Nihilux needs to replace an existing support, Yaoong and Elation MC are the most obvious characters to examine.
Yaoong still provides useful Elation, Defense Reduction, and other amplification. However, Nihilux offers much more personal damage while also bringing her own Aha-related mechanics.
Elation MC has an interesting new interaction that can enable a main-DPS Nihilux and sub-DPS Elation MC setup.
That may be useful for players who specifically want to build around that combination, but in the current V1 analysis, it does not look like a major competitive advantage.
This makes Elation MC another character whose position is less secure after Nihilux's arrival.
Sparksy Gets a Significant Upgrade
Sparksy is one of the more interesting cases.
Unlike Yaoong and Elation MC, Sparksy appears to gain considerable value from Nihilux's V1 changes.
She receives additional Crit and Defense Reduction, but the more important part of the interaction is her ability to generate large amounts of Punchline through her Aha.
Compared with Yaoong, Sparksy can potentially produce much more Punchline over several turns. That benefits the entire team because Punchline and Certified Banger are important resources for the Elation lineup.
Sparksy also remains an effective character for triggering Superwolf's boxes.
As a result, the V1 version of Nihilux may make Sparksy much more competitive with Yaoong.
The exact optimal team is still uncertain, but Sparksy is clearly not being pushed aside as easily as some of the other support options.
What About Pearl?
Pearl also receives an interaction with Nihilux.
Her Ultimate can now retain part of the temporary Punchline and Certified Banger generated by the team.
At E0, the improvement appears relatively limited. Higher investment, particularly E2 Pearl combined with additional Nihilux investment, makes the interaction more meaningful.
This makes Pearl more of a high-investment option rather than an immediate universal replacement.
Silverwolf Needs High Investment
Silverwolf's V1 interaction looks much more complicated.
On paper, her Aha provides additional Crit DMG and allows her to overflow her MMR. However, simply reaching the new cap does not automatically produce the expected benefit.
Players need substantially more overflow to unlock the relevant Crit conversion.
The current analysis therefore suggests that Silverwolf's Nihilux synergy is much more attractive at higher investment, especially with additional Eidolons and Pearl investment.
At E0, the value appears considerably less impressive.
That means Nihilux does not simply turn Silverwolf into the obvious replacement for another Elation character. Instead, she seems to give high-investment Silverwolf teams another route to explore.
Waven Has Potential
Waven is another major question mark.
If Nihilux is Waven's other Elation teammate, he can activate both of his relevant trace effects. He also gains additional Fervor and Punchline from ally attacks.
Nihilux can further record part of an Aha instance, which is particularly interesting for Waven because of his own damage profile and follow-up attacks.
The problem is team construction.
The current Aha variant may want another strong damage dealer, but the available sustain options do not necessarily have ideal synergy with the composition.
Because of that, Waven's Nihilux team looks promising on paper but still needs more testing.
A future follow-up-oriented sustain could potentially make this combination much more attractive.
So, Who Is Nihilux Replacing?
The answer is not completely settled in V1, but the current direction is becoming clearer.
Evanessia looks like one of the characters that benefits most from Nihilux, rather than someone being replaced.
Waven remains a promising partner, although his optimal team is still uncertain.
Sparksy gains new value and could become interchangeable with Yaoong depending on the final numbers and rotations.
Meanwhile, Yaoong and Elation MC appear to lose ground, particularly because Nihilux can provide her own damage while also contributing important Elation mechanics.
That makes Elation MC the easiest character to push out in some existing compositions, while Yaoong's position becomes much less secure.
However, this is only the V1 state of Honkai: Star Rail 4.7. Nihilux's numbers, Aha effects, and interactions can all change before release.
For now, the biggest takeaway is that Nihilux is not simply another Elation support. She is shaping up as an offensive sub-DPS who can fundamentally change how existing Elation characters interact with Aha, Punchline, and Certified Banger.
