MapleStory Classic World's Halloween events run from October 28, 2026, at 00:00 UTC until November 18 at 23:59 UTC. Characters level 10 and above can accept Malady's Halloween Candies quest, return 100 candies and complete a follow-up hidden mission for the permanent Pumpkin Basket weapon. During the same period, Orange Slimes appear in four towns with extra candy and recovery-item drops.
This preparation guide covers the announced collection and the documented delivery clues: a dark tunnel, an open field and high ground. Those clues give you targets for the second stage, although exact maps and NPC positions still need confirmation. Before opening day, reach level 10, prepare your supplies and start The Journey Begins so your Halloween collection can fit around normal leveling.
Halloween Dates and Entry Requirements
Both Halloween activities require level 10 or above. North American Classic World players can begin on the evening of October 27:
Time Zone | Event Starts | Event Ends |
UTC | October 28, 00:00 | November 18, 23:59 |
US Pacific | October 27, 5:00 PM PDT | November 18, 3:59 PM PST |
US Eastern | October 27, 8:00 PM EDT | November 18, 6:59 PM EST |
Central Europe | October 28, 1:00 AM CET | November 19, 12:59 AM CET |
US daylight saving time ends November 1, so closing times use PST and EST. Central Europe uses CET throughout this window. Finish both quest stages before the deadline.
Participation and Trading Are Separate
New-account trading unlocks 24 hours after a character on the account reaches level 15. This wait does not block event participation. Start it early if you plan to trade your reward.
Pumpkin Basket Quest Steps
In MapleStory Classic World, the Pumpkin Basket route has a collection stage followed by a delivery quest:
When the event opens, visit Malady in Henesys or Kerning City.
Accept [Event] Halloween Candies and collect 100 from monsters level 10 or above.
Return the candies to Malady to progress to [Event] Trick or Treat!.
Deliver her three pouches to the children described by the dark tunnel, open field and high ground clues.
Return to Malady to complete the follow-up and receive Pumpkin Basket.
Leave time for the deliveries and final conversation before the event closes.
Collect 100 Halloween Candies
Accept the collection quest before your Classic World training session. Malady's exact event position within each announced town still needs checking.
Choose Monsters You Can Clear Consistently
The quest lists these eligible monster examples:
Monster | Level | HP |
Ribbon Pig | 10 | 172 |
Dark Stump | 11 | 236 |
Octopus | 12 | 191 |
Green Mushroom | 14 | 233 |
Choose whichever you can defeat consistently at your current level. These are examples, not an exhaustive list: other targets must still meet the stated monster level requirement of 10 or higher. Their candy drops are chance-based; no confirmed drop-rate comparison establishes one as the fastest source.
Use your normal training area if its monsters meet the level requirement and you can defeat them comfortably. Compare how long fights take, how often you stop to recover and whether other players leave enough monsters available. A harder enemy that burns through potions can cost more MapleStory Classic World Mesos and slow the collection, even if its experience reward looks attractive.
If the map is crowded, try another channel or suitable training area. Compare how consistently you can keep fighting, including time spent traveling between alternatives.
Count only Halloween Candies toward the objective; the colored recovery candies do not qualify. Carry recovery supplies for the delivery journey after your hand-in.
Trick or Treat Delivery Clues
After the initial hand-in, Malady splits her candy into three pouches for children spending Halloween alone. The Classic World quest text identifies three delivery targets:
Delivery Target | Quest Clue | Location Status |
Child in a tunnel | Dark tunnel | Exact map and NPC position unconfirmed |
Child in a field | Open field | Exact map and NPC position unconfirmed |
Child on elevated ground | High ground | Exact map and NPC position unconfirmed |
These are documented quest clues, so the three-target structure can be included in your plan. They do not yet establish a visiting order or justify assigning the children to particular familiar maps. Follow those clues when the event opens, then return to Malady, the listed turn-in NPC.
The delivery targets receive the pouches Malady prepares after your initial hand-in; the quest text does not describe another 100-candy collection.
If the delivery quest is unavailable after collecting your stack, confirm that you actually completed the first hand-in with Malady. Further NPC-by-NPC directions require the live event's map and dialogue checks.
Pumpkin Basket Stats and Value
The MapleStory Classic World Halloween reward is a permanent one-handed sword that can be traded within the same world. Its v1.0.0 equipment properties and announced reward conditions are:
Property | Pumpkin Basket |
Weapon Type | One-handed Sword |
Required Level | 10 |
Usable Jobs | All Jobs |
Weapon Attack | +27 |
Attack Speed | Fast (4), per v1.0.0 equipment data |
Movement Speed | +3 |
Available Enhancements | 7 |
Duration | Permanent |
Trading | Tradable within World |
The event announcement lists Attack Speed 3, while the October 21 equipment-change record and v1.0.0 item entry list Fast (4), changed from Faster (3). Use Fast (4) for preparation and check the actual reward tooltip before investing enhancements. Movement Speed +3 is a separate property.
Choose Whether to Use It
Your Situation | Suggested Priority |
Newly level 10, still developing your gear | Start the collection alongside leveling. Finish the delivery stage if you want the permanent reward; compare its stats before equipping it. |
Warrior using a one-handed sword | Compare Weapon Attack, attack speed and enhancements with your current weapon. Use it if the overall comparison suits your setup. |
Your main weapon is already better | Complete the chain for collection value if that appeals to you. Keep your stronger combat weapon. |
Your setup does not use one-handed swords | Treat it as an optional collection item and keep scrolls for equipment you actually use. |
All-job equipment eligibility does not remove your combat skills' weapon requirements. The movement bonus alone does not establish a damage upgrade.
Decide before Spending Enhancement Resources
Seven available slots give you room to develop the weapon; they do not guarantee seven successful enhancements or a particular final attack value. Decide whether you expect to use it for regular combat before committing scrolls. If you are completing Halloween mainly for the souvenir, leaving it unenhanced preserves your resources for your main equipment.
Prioritize scrolls for the weapon you use regularly. Pumpkin Basket can be traded within the same world once account restrictions clear, but its resale value in MapleStory Classic World Mesos is not established. Avoid enhancement spending that depends on an assumed resale profit.
Orange Slime Locations and Drops
Slime Attack runs alongside Malady's quest in Classic World. It is a separate activity with the same event window and level-10 participation threshold, giving you another source of Halloween Candies and several recovery items.
Check the Four Main Towns
Orange Slimes appear in Henesys, Ellinia, Kerning City and Perion. The October 21 game-data change record reduces their time present from 30 minutes to 3 minutes after spawning. This is a disappearance timer, not evidence that a fresh Slime appears every 3 minutes; confirm its live behavior when the event opens.
Check for them while passing through town for supplies or quest conversations. If you spot a Slime and want its drops, deal with it during that visit instead of assuming it will remain until your next trip. If none are available, return to eligible normal monsters. No fixed respawn interval or efficient four-town circuit has been established.
Separate Quest Candy from Recovery Items
Item | Use or Effect | Trading | Duration |
Halloween Candies | Malady's collection objective | Untradable | Expires November 18, 23:59 UTC |
Red Malady's Candy | Restores 600 HP | Tradable | Permanent |
Blue Malady's Candy | Restores 450 MP | Tradable | Permanent |
Green Malady's Candy | Restores 300 HP and 300 MP | Tradable | Permanent |
The three colored candies are consumable recovery items. Using them for recovery may save MapleStory Classic World Mesos otherwise spent on potions. Permanent duration means they have no listed expiry; using one still consumes it. Their recovery effects also serve different needs, so check whether you need HP, MP or both before using a drop.
Choose an Activity for Your Goal
If your immediate goal is experience plus the 100-candy objective, continue training on suitable monsters. If you want the colored recovery drops, look for Orange Slimes when visiting one of their towns.
Neither option has a verified candy-rate advantage. Keep the choice tied to what you need during that session, and reassess if town hunting leaves you waiting or normal training becomes too contested.
Combine Halloween and Daily Rewards
Prepare recovery items and inventory space, then use your normal MapleStory Classic World training session for both collections. Accept [Event] The Journey Begins from Maple Administrator as well as Malady's quest. Its daily target is 30 Maple Leaves from monsters level 10 or above, with a reward claim once per account per day.
Eligible monsters can advance both collections during the same session, although one kill is not guaranteed to drop both items. Turn in the leaves when ready, continue the Halloween collection if needed, then leave time for Malady's deliveries. Choose the turn-in order to suit your location; neither collection has to finish first.
Halloween Event FAQ
Why Is Malady's Quest Unavailable?
Before the event opens in Classic World, the Halloween quest is unavailable. Once the window begins, check your character's eligibility and whether the collection is already in your log. If only Trick or Treat! is missing, complete Malady's initial hand-in first.
Can Players Exchange Halloween Candies?
Halloween Candies are untradable, so collect your own stack. The colored recovery candies and Pumpkin Basket can be traded under their listed rules, subject to account trading restrictions.
Can Players Earn Multiple Pumpkin Baskets?
The available quest entry lists Trick or Treat! as non-repeatable, but that record is marked as verified against version 0.9.0. Plan around one completion per character unless the live event shows otherwise. This does not establish whether other characters on the same account can earn their own Pumpkin Basket; that eligibility still needs confirmation after opening.
