PoE 2 Lightning Warp Build Guide: Cast on Crit Projectile Setup for Ultra-Fast Mapping

Summary

This build's core mechanic is using projectile hits to trigger Cast on Crit, which automatically fires Lightning Warp, instantly teleporting you from one monster to the next. The character never stops moving, clears maps at absurd speed, but requires a specific gear foundation to function smoothly—which is why many players buy POE2 Currency to afford the key uniques and socketables before the build truly comes online.

Core Mechanics: Why This Engine Works

The entire setup relies on three interlocking gears. Wolfpack + Cast on Minion Death generates energy and triggers teleports. Cast on Crit + Lightning Warp handles the actual movement and killing. And Culling Strike ensures every target you warp to gets instantly executed.

The Wolfpack goes in Weapon Set One, and only Set One. Every time you attack with Bone Shatter, the wolves explode from Minion Instability, feeding energy to Cast on Minion Death, which triggers the low-level Lightning Warp inside it. When your projectiles crit, they also trigger the Lightning Warp inside Cast on Crit.

Culling Strike is the key component. You need 186% total increased culling strike threshold to instantly execute full-life white monsters. Sources include: four passive tree points (40%), helmet base (100%), Heart of the Well amulet (at least 26%), and an anoint (20%). When a monster has a blue orb above its head, Lightning Warp will teleport to it and kill it outright.

Wolfpack Configuration: Life Must Be Higher Than Yours

When the Wolfpack doesn't work, it's usually because the wolves don't have enough life. The wolf's maximum life must exceed your character's life, and your life must fall within the initial 35% of the wolf's total life so Minion Instability detonates them properly.

The math: multiply your life by 1.5. The result must be greater than the wolf's remaining life, and the difference must be less than 35% of the wolf's total life. For example, a character with 1552 life gives 2328 after multiplying by 1.5. If the wolf has 2513 life, the difference of 185 is well below the 35% threshold, so the wolf explodes correctly. Level 19 Wolfpack is recommended. If your life is lower, level 17 can work.

To verify it's working, enable "Show Mini Life Bar Above NPCs" in UI settings, checking both allies and enemies. You'll see the wolves' life in real time.

Skill and Weapon Set Assignment

Weapon Set One (Wolfpack side): Wolfpack, Cast on Minion Death (with low-level Lightning Warp), Bone Shatter + Minion Pact. Profane Ritual goes in Cast on Elemental Ailment with Overabundance, Charge Diffusion, and similar supports.

Weapon Set Two (Projectile side): Ice Shot (or Lightning Arrow—same thing, just reskinned), Cast on Crit (with low-level Lightning Warp), Tornado Shot, Combat Frenzy, Ice-Tipped Arrows.

Do not link Pierce or Fork to Ice Shot. You want shards to splinter the instant they hit the first monster, maximizing teleport trigger frequency. Every investment in projectile speed serves this purpose—the faster projectiles hit monsters, the faster teleports trigger.

Gear Priorities

Gloves are a priority: look for additional projectiles and projectile speed. Flat damage matters less. Culling Strike should also go on gloves. If you can't afford the Aldur's Legacy socketable, a pair of Death Blow gloves works as a budget alternative.

Heart of the Well amulet provides massive culling threshold and added chaos damage—it's a core piece.

Time-Lost Ring (very large) reaches Kiterunner. Key mods are projectile speed, increased effective notables, and one crit mod. The Resonance from Nothing jewel lets you allocate those nodes.

Alignment III support (bow attacks only) adds 4 additional projectiles when firing in a specific direction. A directional arrow appears under your character—shooting in that direction has a chance to trigger. Don't stare at the arrow; just shoot normally. Roughly a quarter of your shots get the bonus projectiles.

Soul Drain linked to Lightning Warp. When Lightning Warp kills a monster, it recovers 12% maximum mana over 4 seconds. Combined with mana recovery from wolf deaths, you'll essentially never run out of mana.

Passive Tree and Stat Adjustments

Projectile speed over everything. The faster projectiles reach monsters, the sooner teleports trigger, and the faster your clear speed becomes. The character currently sits at 184% projectile speed, which is already headache-inducing fast.

Refunded "Thin Ice"—almost everything dies before you benefit from it. Moved those two points to 10-Fold Attacks on the two-handed weapon set. Also refunded the small skill speed node and picked up additional attack speed instead.

If you keep leveling, refund the four points in the bottom right, path upward, and take Falcon Dive.

Practical Warnings

Ritual has one fatal issue: projectiles can fly outside the ritual area, causing Culling Strike to trigger outside and instantly end the ritual. Clear everything around the ritual before starting it. This doesn't happen often, but it's infuriating when it does.

The character plays like a pseudo-Flicker Strike—you don't know which monster you'll warp to, but as long as you keep traveling between monsters, everything dies eventually. It's extremely fast and might give you a headache if you play too long, but that's the cost and the fun of this setup. If you want to skip the grind and get this build running sooner, you can buy POE2 Currency from a trusted source, and MMOEXP is a solid recommendation for fast, safe delivery and competitive rates.
