POE2 Currency Farming Guide: The Raven Trickster Boss Strategy
Summary
The Raven Trickster (Tangmazu) is the pinnacle Delirium boss in Path of Exile 2. This guide covers the complete farming strategy—including access requirements, the valuable Raven-Touched Shard drops, and a real 500-kill profit analysis to show whether this method actually delivers returns. Whether you're looking to buy POE 2 Currency to finance your entry keys or simply want to maximize the value of your shard drops, this strategy offers one of the most reliable endgame farms available.
What Is the Raven Trickster?
Tangmazu, known as the Raven Trickster, is the pinnacle boss of the Delirium endgame mechanic. He's a god of deception and dreams in the game's lore, serving as the source of the Delirium fog that speaks to players as the "Strange Voice" during Delirium encounters.
The boss fight takes place in the Paracosm, accessed through the Withered Willow by using a Raven's Reflection item.
How to Access the Boss Fight
Step 1: Obtain a Raven's Reflection
The Raven's Reflection is the entry key for this boss fight. You can obtain it in two ways:
Farming Simulacrums — Complete Wave 7 of the Simulacrum of Delusion. The drop rate is approximately 2-3% per run.
Trade Market — Purchase Raven's Reflections directly. They were selling for about half a Divine Orb each at the time of this farming session.
Step 2: Unlock the Paracosm
Travel to the Withered Willow located next to Elder Madox. Place the Raven's Reflection into the mirror interface by dragging and dropping it from your inventory. Activate the mirror to enter the Paracosm and begin the boss fight.
Step 3: Fight the Boss
When you enter, you'll face Tangmazu directly. The fight is relatively straightforward mechanically, though the boss does have a few dangerous attacks to watch for:
Constant Movement Required — Many of Tangmazu's attacks track your position. Staying mobile is your best defense.
Black Beam Attack — A giant beam sweeps across the arena. You can dodge through it to reach the other side.
Blast Attack — At around 60% remaining health, Tangmazu moves to the center and heals to full. Shortly after, he charges a large blast covering most of the arena. Run to the edges of the arena to avoid this attack.
The Jackpot Drop: Raven-Touched Shard
The Raven-Touched Shard is the primary reason players farm this boss.
What It Does:
Sockets into helmets that have empty augment sockets
Makes the helmet "Raven-Touched"
Raven-Touched helmets can be anointed just like amulets, granting your character access to an additional notable passive skill from the passive tree
Drop Rate:
The Raven-Touched Shard has approximately a 2.5-3% drop chance from Tangmazu. This rarity is why each shard commands such a high market price.
Market Value:
At the time of this farming session, Raven-Touched Shards sold for approximately 100 Divine Orbs each.
The Complete Drop Table
Tangmazu drops a variety of items. The drop rate percentages (based on the 500-kill sample) are as follows:
Veilpiercer (Amethyst Ring) — roughly 35% of kills
Sadist's Mercy (One-Handed Mace) — roughly 30% of kills
The Auspex (Exquisite Vest Body Armour) — roughly 17% of kills
Horror's Flight (Engraved Bracers Gloves) — roughly 10% of kills
The Raven's Flock (Perching Staff) — roughly 5% of kills
Split Personality (Ruby Jewel) — roughly 3% of kills
Additional Drops (not guaranteed per kill):
Raven-Touched Shard — approximately 2.5% drop rate
Trickster's Shard (Lineage Support Gem) — approximately 4.3% drop rate
Tangmazu's Thurible (Support Gem) — approximately 3.5% drop rate
500-Kill Farm: Real Results and Profit Analysis
Investment
Entry Cost: 250 Divine Orbs total (purchasing 500 Raven's Reflections at roughly 0.5 Divine each)
Total Kills: 500
Time Invested: Approximately 14 hours over two weeks
Raw Divine Drops
During 500 kills, 57 raw Divine Orbs dropped. This means Divine Orbs dropped at roughly a 1-in-10 kill rate — an excellent currency rate for a boss farm compared to most other content.
Currency Loot (Excluding Raven-Touched Shards)
Beyond the raw Divine drops, the farm yielded:
18 Orbs of Annulment (worth roughly 12 Divines total)
5 Perfect Exalted Orbs (worth roughly 15 Divines total)
162 Chaos Orbs
Cryptic Keys (from Jato Atlas master procs, adding extra value)
The total currency value from non-shard drops came to roughly 80-85 Divines.
Raven-Touched Shard Results
This is where the real profit materialized:
Total Shards Obtained: 10 across 500 kills
Sale Price per Shard: 100 Divines
Total Shard Value: 1,000 Divines
Split Personality Rubies
From the 500 kills, 28 Split Personality Rubies dropped. Identifying them revealed:
4 hit the Sorceress starting point (the valuable roll for the current meta)
Each valuable roll sells for roughly 15 Divines
Total Value from identified rubies: approximately 60 Divines
Key Insight on Identifying Rubies
A crucial lesson emerged here. Unidentified Split Personality Rubies sell for approximately 3 Divines each. The 28 unidentified rubies would have sold for roughly 84 Divines total. By identifying them, the final value was about 60 Divines — a loss of roughly 24 Divines compared to selling them unidentified.
This demonstrates that sometimes the gamble isn't worth taking. Selling unid'd items can be more profitable than identifying them yourself, especially when only one specific roll holds significant value.
Final Profit Breakdown
Here's the complete financial picture:
Raven-Touched Shards (10): 1,000 Divines
Raw Divine Drops: 57 Divines
Annulment Orbs + Perfect Exalts: roughly 27 Divines
Split Personality Rubies: roughly 60 Divines
Other Currency (Chaos, etc.): roughly 23 Divines
Cryptic Keys: roughly 15 Divines
Miscellaneous Items (Grand Projects, Twilight Relics, etc.): roughly 164 Divines
Total Revenue: Approximately 1,346 Divines
Initial Investment: 250 Divines
Net Profit: Approximately 1,096 Divines
Profit Per Hour: Roughly 78 Divines per hour — competitive with the best juicing methods available in the current meta.
Atlas Master Setup Recommendation
For this farm, Jato was used as the Atlas master. The passive skill "Mysterious Gifts" causes unique monsters to have a chance to drop Cryptic Keys, which sell for roughly 1 Divine for every two keys.
Notably, Doriani's Head of the Snake passive wasn't prioritized because the Raven-Touched Shard is not a unique item — it's a currency-type shard. Therefore, the unique drop rate bonuses don't apply to the jackpot item, making Jato the better choice for extra side income from Cryptic Keys.
What About Raven-Touched Gear?
Horror's Flight gloves can drop with a Raven-Touched implicit. In this 500-kill session, none of the 52 pairs of Horror's Flight gloves dropped with Raven-Touched. This is important to note because:
Raven-Touched gloves sell for 4-5 Divines each if they hit the right implicit
Non-Raven-Touched gloves are essentially worthless
If you do obtain Raven-Touched gloves, you'll need to quality them, socket them, and potentially corrupt them to add an extra socket or a good implicit before they reach their full value.
Similarly, The Auspex body armours can also roll Raven-Touched. Out of roughly two full tabs of Auspex drops, only three had the Raven-Touched implicit.
Risks and Important Considerations
Market Volatility
Prices for boss-related items can fluctuate dramatically. Raven-Touched Shards that sell for 100 Divines today may drop significantly if supply increases. Always check current market prices before committing to a large farming session.
Entry Cost Risk
The cost of Raven's Reflections can rise. A farming strategy that's profitable at 0.5 Divine per entry may become unprofitable if the entry cost exceeds 2 Divines per run. Monitor the market before buying in bulk.
High Variance
This 500-kill session was notably lucky. The Raven-Touched Shard drop rate is around 2.5-3%, meaning you could experience long dry streaks. With 10 shards from 500 kills (a 2% rate), this session actually performed slightly below the expected rate — but the shard value was still high enough to generate massive profit.
Time Investment and Repetition
The boss fight itself is relatively quick, but the cutscene before each fight becomes tedious. Over 500 kills, the cutscene time adds up significantly. Consider this if you're easily bored by repetitive content.
The Cutscene Tax
Like the Arbiter of Divinity, Tangmazu forces you to sit through a cutscene before every fight. While short individually, this adds considerable time across 500 kills. Plan your session accordingly.
Is This Strategy Right for You?
This farm is excellent if:
You have 250+ Divines to invest upfront
You can tolerate repetitive boss farming
You're looking for high-profit-per-hour content in the endgame
You have a build capable of killing Tangmazu quickly and consistently
This farm may not be ideal if:
You have a lower budget (the entry cost is significant)
You prefer varied content over boss farming
Your build struggles with the fight mechanics
You dislike the cutscene delay
Final Verdict
The Raven Trickster farm proved to be an extremely profitable strategy, generating over 1,000 Divines in profit from a 250 Divine investment. The profit per hour of approximately 78 Divines places this farm among the most lucrative methods available in POE2's current endgame.
The Raven-Touched Shard is the clear driver of profit — without it, the farm would barely break even. But with a 2.5-3% drop rate and 100 Divine value per shard, the expected value per kill remains highly attractive.
