Summary
Star Citizen Alpha 4.10.2 is now entering PTU testing with a mix of gameplay adjustments, VR improvements, mission fixes, and stability changes. While it is not a huge content expansion, the patch targets several issues affecting daily gameplay. Players can also buy Star Citizen AUEC for ships and upgrades. Here are the major buffs, nerfs, and fixes players should know about.
New Stanton Event
Alpha 4.10.2 introduces a new in-system event in Stanton. Players can access its contracts through the MobiGlas contract manager, with a dedicated tab, progress tracker, journal entry, and reward track. The event gives players another activity to explore while the patch is being tested.
Major VR Buffs and Improvements
VR receives some of the most noticeable improvements in 4.10.2. VR will now activate automatically when enabled through the launcher, removing the need to enable it separately in the game menu.
The patch also adds VR zoom for F-key interactions, ship targeting, FPS weapons, ADS, and scopes. Players can adjust the effect through a new Zoom Gameplay Strength option. Precision targeting has also been improved by temporarily reducing rotational movement and helping the camera focus on targets.
Additional changes improve hand mining, tractor-beam aiming, ship interactions, and overall movement consistency.
Salvage Nerf Could Affect AUEC Farming
The biggest gameplay adjustment concerns the Orison Relief Support event. CIG is targeting salvage contracts that could be completed quickly while generating a disproportionately large amount of AUEC.
The current PTU notes indicate that these contracts are being adjusted, although the exact reward or timing changes are not fully detailed yet. This means players relying heavily on the current salvage farming method should watch the final version closely.
Mission and Cargo Fixes
Several frustrating mission problems are also being addressed. The patch includes potential fixes for contracts becoming unavailable after acceptance, cargo being incorrectly identified as ship ammunition, freight elevator problems, disappearing hauling cargo, and courier mission generation issues.
Vehicle reliability is another focus. Ships that become unresponsive after quantum travel under poor network conditions should receive a fix, while additional freight elevator recovery problems are also being addressed.
Stability and Crash Fixes
Alpha 4.10.2 includes multiple potential client crash fixes involving vehicle landing gear, chat-related entity corruption, mission services, and vehicle state recovery. Siege of Orison also receives several corrections, including salvage progression and command-center door issues.
Overall, Alpha 4.10.2 is primarily a refinement update. Its biggest changes affect VR, salvage earnings, mission reliability, vehicles, and stability. For players preparing for new ships and upgrades, having enough Star Citizen AUEC can also make progression smoother.
