Players can move protection to another pledge that grants the same game. This can be done through the My Gear page in the hangar, and the selection can be changed multiple times during the October window.
On November 1, the choice becomes permanent.
What Happens to VIP and Buyback Pledges?
VIP status itself does not automatically provide game access. However, the High Admiral VIP reward can include game access and is already unmeltable and ungiftable.
Because CIG prioritizes pledges that are already permanently locked, such a reward can become the protected game-access pledge automatically.
Buyback pledges are treated differently. Restoring an old pledge gives it the date of restoration, meaning it is considered a newer pledge for automatic selection. However, players can manually choose a restored pledge during the October selection period.
Existing Game Access Remains Important
Players who currently have game access do not need to purchase another package simply because the system is changing.
If a player still has access on October 1, the system will protect the pledge that provides that access. This can include purchased packages, VIP rewards, referral rewards, giveaway packages, and subscriber rewards when they contain the relevant game access.
However, the current rules remain in effect before October 1. If someone melts or gifts their only source of game access before the change takes effect, they can lose access just as they would under the existing system.
