Summary

Are you struggling with late-season profits? Do you think you can't farm efficiently without compasses? I just completed a roughly 7-hour farming test and discovered a surprisingly stable income source that requires no compasses at all, no lucky drops, and delivers approximately 1100 FE per hour from base drops alone—making it one of the most reliable ways to stack Torchlight: Infinite FE without relying on RNG. The best part? This strategy remains effective even this deep into the league. While many players complain about diminishing returns late in the season, the right method still produces consistent cash flow.

Core Profit Data

Let's get straight to the numbers. After 7 hours of continuous testing, this farm averages 18.3 FE profit per minute. Do the math: 18.3 × 60 minutes = roughly 1,100 FE per hour.

Important: These numbers are:

Already calculated after tax

Excluding any jackpot lucky drops

Excluding Slates

Excluding compass drops

Excluding any high-value unique items

This is pure "baseline income." If you get lucky, your returns will only be higher, not lower.

Pet Setup (Must Read)

I know many people tune out when they hear "pets," but hear me out.

I'm using Moon Shadow Guide as my core pet, paired with Chalk and Captain Shadow. I'm also using Cloud Golem Level 6 as supplementary support.

Important Disclaimer: Your profitability will decrease if you don't use these pets. I can't quantify exactly how much. I'm mentioning this right at the start—not at the end—because I'm not here to bait you or sell you something without full transparency.

That said, these pets are fairly reasonable to obtain:

Sand Lord (Moon Shadow Guide): Most players who have played a few leagues have at least level 1

If you don't have it... well, at least the character physics on this setup are something else. Maybe consider it just for that? (Half joking. Half.)

Map Setup and Configuration

Basic Settings

I'm farming on Profound difficulty. Each map costs 5 FE as a base investment.

No compasses used at all

Full resonance only — just the beacon you're putting in

Activating God of War for extra movement speed

The league mechanic has been buffed multiple times already and actually feels pretty good now. This is part of why I wanted to do this farm—to stock up on gold for the league while testing how effective the buffs really are.

Farming Loop (3 Simple Steps)

Activate Sand Lord — Note that summoned mobs take a moment before they can take damage. My approach: activate, kill the first wave, jump off to clear other mobs, then come back for the next wave. This maximizes the value from God of War's speed boost.

Run straight to the end of the map — Don't stop to pick things up. Don't open chests. Just go.

Ignore the cube — We're not specced into it, so who cares?

That's literally it. Each map takes about 1 minute to complete.

League Mechanic: Cloud Oasis

This farm works because of the Cloud Oasis league mechanic.

How It Works

As you defeat Sandlords in your maps, you earn resources for your Cloud Oasis. You can build and upgrade structures, assign workers to produce resources, and send airships to trade.

The key mechanic: you can send workers on gliders to raid sand pirate hideouts for free rewards. Once your oasis is set up, it basically runs itself — you're collecting rewards passively while farming.

The Glider Strategy

I'm using glider raids. Each send costs 67,000 sand coins with my current setup (16,800 per glider × 4 gliders). Each glider gives 3 loots, so that's 12 loot drops per send.

In the 7-hour session, I sent roughly 12 raids, spending about 804,000 sand coins total. Even after all that spending, I was still 300,000 sand coins ahead of where I started. The sand coin sustain is completely self-sufficient.

What Actually Drops

I'm not cherry-picking lucky drops to make the numbers look good. My actual loot breakdown was:

Raw FE

Probes — lots of them

Gold Wicks

Silver Wicks

Embers

Various resonance materials

Tomarrow's Directions

No insane drops. No high-value compasses. No lucky pulls. This is the real, unedited profit you can expect.

League Mechanic: Timed Trading

Beyond glider raids, the Cloud Oasis timed trade feature is another major income source.

Roughly every 35 minutes, I would:

Return to the oasis

Use accumulated sand coins to send trade airships

Each send costs ~67,000 sand coins

Collect the trade rewards

Because I was massively over-sustaining sand coins from the farm, this loop was completely sustainable without any additional investment.

Session Summary

Here's the final session breakdown:

Total maps run: 168

Session time: 3 hours 54 minutes (with some additional AFK time)

Average efficiency: 18.2 FE/minute

There were no "lucky" pulls inflating these numbers. If anything, this could have been even higher with better compass drops. This is pure, consistent profit.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: I don't have these pets. Can I still farm this?

Yes, but your efficiency will be lower. I'd recommend at least getting Sand Lord to level 1 — it's a very common pet that most players have access to.

Q: Does this still work late in the league?

Yes — that's exactly why I'm sharing this. The farm remains effective even deep into the season. I've been doing this for 7 hours straight with consistent results.

Q: Do I need high-end gear?

Not really. Profound difficulty isn't extremely challenging. As long as you can clear the Sand Lord spawns comfortably, you're good. If you're struggling, start on a lower difficulty.

Q: I haven't progressed the league mechanic yet. Where do I start?

Complete the main quest to unlock Cloud Oasis. This takes about 2-3 hours, after which you can start the snowball effect.

Final Thoughts

This farm strategy's core advantages:

Zero compass cost — pure base mechanics

No reliance on lucky drops — consistent baseline profit

Sand coins are fully self-sustaining — no external investment needed

Remains effective late in the league — time-proof

This might not be the best league ever, but I'm still enjoying it. I hope this strategy helps you farm consistently through the rest of the season. And if you ever find yourself short on currency and don't have time to grind, you can always buy Torchlight: Infinite FE from MMOEXP—they're reliable, fast, and reasonably priced, so you can jump straight into the endgame without the burnout.
