Summary
WoW Forever is already changing how Classic players approach class choices. The Beta currently reaches level 20, allowing players to test leveling, early talents, PvP, and dungeon performance. With level 60 still ahead, Warriors, Shamans, Paladins, and Mages could see major changes. Players can also prepare for progression with WOW Forever Gold. Here’s how each class currently performs across leveling, PvE, tanking, healing, and PvP.
1. WoW Forever Overall Class Tier List
For players choosing one main character, the current overall picture favors classes that can perform well across several activities rather than specializing in just one role.
| Tier | Classes | Main Strength |
|---|---|---|
| S | Mage, Warlock, Priest | Strong overall utility and multiple viable activities |
| A | Hunter, Paladin, Shaman, Druid | Strong flexibility and group value |
| B | Rogue, Warrior | Powerful specialists but more dependent on gear or support |
Mage currently has the broadest overall toolkit. Strong leveling, crowd control, utility and PvP make it a flexible choice.
Warlock is particularly attractive for solo players because demons, Fear, drains and Life Tap reduce downtime. Priest combines reliable leveling tools with strong healing and PvP utility.
The lower overall placement of Warrior and Rogue should not be interpreted as them being weak. Their specialized roles can place them much higher when the goal changes.
2. Hunter, Warlock and Mage Lead WoW Forever Leveling
Leveling is one area where the Beta already provides meaningful evidence.
Hunter, Warlock and Mage currently form the S tier for leveling. Hunter stands out because its pet can absorb incoming damage while the player attacks from range. Tracking, movement tools and safer pulls make it particularly forgiving for a first character.
Warlock takes a different approach. Demons act as a reliable damage sponge, while Life Tap, drains and Fear help maintain momentum between fights.
Mage relies on range and control instead. Frost abilities, Polymorph, roots and free food and water create a very safe leveling experience.
Druid, Paladin, Shaman and Priest sit in the next group, with Rogue and Warrior requiring more attention to gear, recovery and positioning.
One important warning remains: the current Beta cap is only level 20. Blizzard plans to increase it to level 30, so later talent breakpoints could change the leveling picture considerably.
3. Fury Warrior and Enhancement Shaman Stand Out in Raid DPS Projections
Raid DPS is much harder to judge right now because players cannot actually test level-60 raids.
The current editorial projection places Fury Warrior at the top, with Enhancement Shaman, Affliction Warlock, Combat Rogue, Fire Mage, Arcane Mage, Arms Warrior and Destruction Warlock forming a strong second group.
However, this is not a confirmed endgame ranking.
A public simulation snapshot currently puts a combined Arms/Fury Warrior build at 1,099 DPS, Marksmanship Hunter at 906, and Fire Mage at 723. Enhancement Shaman records 663 DPS in the same snapshot. The problem is that the simulator still uses provisional assumptions, and the Warrior result does not cleanly separate Fury from Arms.
That makes Warrior's scaling promising, but not definitive.
Enhancement Shaman is particularly interesting because WoW Forever significantly changes its toolkit and itemization. The specialization currently has an A-level projected position, giving players who want melee DPS another option beyond Warrior.
4.Tank Rankings: Protection Warrior Leads, but Paladin Is Changing Fast
For tanks, Protection Warrior currently has the strongest projected position.
Warrior already starts with many of the tools expected from a traditional Classic tank, including Taunt and an interrupt. WoW Forever adds further Rage interactions, stance flexibility and defensive improvements.
Protection Paladin is one of the game's biggest redesign stories. Its new tools improve taunting, Mana management and defensive gameplay, directly addressing several weaknesses from Classic.
Bear Druid remains another viable option, retaining its high-health and high-armor identity while gaining stronger active tools and multi-target pressure.
The important point is that tank rankings cannot be determined by DPS alone. Threat, survivability, healer requirements and encounter mechanics will ultimately matter much more.
5. Priest Leads the Current Healer Projection
Priest currently occupies the top healer position, with both Holy and Discipline offering broad healing tools.
Holy Paladin, Restoration Shaman, and Restoration Druid are close alternatives. Paladin benefits from changes such as a shorter Holy Shock cooldown and stronger Holy Light interactions.
Restoration Shaman gains improved sustain through tools such as Riptide and Water Shield, while Chain Heal remains valuable when multiple players require healing.
Restoration Druid also receives meaningful changes, including stronger group healing and improved access to Swiftmend and resurrection utility.
Actual raid encounters could easily change this order. Raid-wide damage, movement, dispels and fight duration will all influence healer performance.
6. Mage, Rogue, Warlock and Priest Dominate PvP
PvP currently has a very different class landscape.
Mage, Rogue, Warlock and Priest sit in the top group because of their combination of control, survivability, burst and utility.
Mage has an especially complete toolkit, combining Polymorph, Counterspell, roots, Blink and burst damage.
Rogue can choose when to engage through Stealth and reset fights with Vanish, while Warlock combines Fear, demons and sustained pressure. Priest brings shields, healing, dispels and Psychic Scream to the battlefield.
Druid, Shaman, Paladin and Hunter form the next group, while Warrior remains more dependent on support. With the full level-60 PvP environment still unavailable, these rankings are based primarily on currently observable combat tools rather than a final Honor meta.
7. Why WoW Forever Tier Lists Can Change Before Launch
Players should treat every level-60 ranking as a projection, not a guarantee.
The current Beta provides direct evidence for levels 1–20, early talents, low-level PvP and early dungeons. It does not yet provide real level-60 raid logs.
Several factors could completely change the final rankings:
Level-cap increases and new talent breakpoints
Final level-60 itemization
Weapon scaling
Encounter design
Racial tuning
Mana and resource costs
Simulation updates
Real raid performance after launch
The guide therefore separates confirmed Beta behavior from simulations and level-60 projections. It also notes that one simulation result is not enough to automatically move a specialization into another tier.
8. Which WoW Forever Class Fits Your Playstyle?
Instead of simply chasing one tier, players should consider what they actually want from their main.
Hunter is built around safe and efficient leveling. Warlock is ideal for players who prefer self-sufficient solo gameplay. Mage offers an unusually broad combination of leveling, PvP, utility and ranged DPS.
Players focused on melee endgame performance may want to watch Warrior, while Paladin is becoming increasingly attractive for anyone who wants access to tanking, healing and DPS.
For healing-focused players, Priest currently has the broadest projected toolkit.
Final Thoughts
WoW Forever is already reshaping the Classic class meta, but the Beta is still too early for a definitive level-60 tier list. Hunter, Warlock and Mage currently have the strongest leveling foundation, while Fury Warrior and Enhancement Shaman stand out in raid-DPS projections. Players preparing for progression can also consider cheap WOW Forever Gold for their in-game needs. Protection Warrior leads the current tank outlook, Priest leads healing, and Mage, Rogue, Warlock and Priest have strong PvP tools. As the level cap rises and real endgame data becomes available, these rankings could change significantly.
