1. Voidwalker Is Carrying Early-Level Warlocks
The Voidwalker is quickly becoming one of the most important tools for Warlock leveling.
Its ability to hold aggro against multiple enemies makes multi-target questing much safer. With manual taunts and a few DoTs, the Voidwalker can handle several mobs while the Warlock focuses on spreading damage.
The current experience suggests:
Voidwalker can hold groups of mobs surprisingly well
Manual taunting helps maintain threat
Its health and survivability are strong at low levels
It can tank dungeon bosses when needed
However, this is still low-level beta gameplay, so its performance could change significantly at higher levels.
2. DoTs Are the Core of Warlock Leveling
The current Warlock leveling experience revolves heavily around damage-over-time abilities.
Improved Corruption is particularly important because the instant-cast Corruption makes applying DoTs much faster.
A typical pull can look like:
Let the Voidwalker establish threat
Apply Agony
Apply Corruption
Add Immolate when appropriate
Finish the target with a wand
This approach keeps the Warlock moving while the DoTs continue dealing damage.
Bane of Agony Is Surprisingly Effective:
Bane of Agony is also performing better than expected.
Even before completing its full duration, it can deal significant damage to normal leveling mobs. Since Agony and Doom are now treated as Banes rather than Curses, Warlocks can maintain their damage while still using Curse abilities when needed.
That gives the class more flexibility during both solo leveling and group content.
3. The Greater Magic Wand Is a Huge Upgrade
One of the biggest lessons from early leveling is simple:
Do not underestimate wands.
A good Greater Magic Wand can provide enormous value while leveling. Once equipped, it becomes a reliable way to finish enemies without spending additional mana on Shadow Bolt.
This is especially useful because Shadow Bolt has a casting time and travel time. For weaker targets, repeatedly using a strong wand can be more efficient than constantly casting spells.
The early economy also matters.
Crafted low-level wands exist, but some provide only a small improvement. A stronger wand from the Auction House can therefore become a major leveling upgrade if you can afford it.
4. Mana Management Feels Better Than Expected
Mana has also been surprisingly comfortable.
Life Tap benefits from Spirit scaling in the current version, making Spirit more relevant to Warlocks than many Classic players might expect.
That changes the early gearing conversation.
Spirit may not normally be a favorite Warlock stat in Classic, but if Life Tap continues to benefit from it in WoW Forever, players may need to reconsider how much value they place on Spirit while leveling.
5. Threat Still Matters in Dungeons
Warlock damage is not completely free from threat problems.
DoTs can generate enough threat to pull enemies away from the tank, especially when attacking targets the tank has not fully secured.
A safer approach is to let the Voidwalker or dungeon tank establish control first, then apply DoTs gradually.
Suppression can also help with hit chance and threat management, although it does not completely solve the problem.
This makes threat awareness an important part of Warlock dungeon play.
6. Dungeon Quests Are Worth Completing
Dungeon quests appear to provide a significant amount of experience in the current beta.
Completing quests both inside and outside a dungeon can produce a large experience boost, making each dungeon run more valuable than simply farming mobs.
For leveling Warlocks, this creates a simple strategy:
Pick up the dungeon quests before entering, complete them during the run, and collect the extra experience afterward.
The dungeon loot can also provide meaningful upgrades, particularly for spell power and weapon damage.
7. What to Expect From Warlock at Level 20
The early beta experience suggests that Warlock has a strong leveling foundation in WoW Forever.
Voidwalker provides reliable protection, DoTs deliver consistent damage, and wands make finishing enemies extremely efficient. Dungeon quests also give players another reason to complete group content while leveling.
Some mechanics are still unknown, however. Snapshotting is not currently working as expected, with the game using a more dynamic DoT system. Doom and several higher-level mechanics will need further testing.
As the beta progresses, Warlock players will have much more to discover about talents, pets, gear, and potential leveling builds, while cheap WOW Forever Gold may help with in-game expenses.
