Summary:
Wetlands Excavation Site is one of WOW Forever Gold the new outdoor-style dungeons coming to WoW Forever. The dungeon is designed for levels 24-29 and expands the existing Wetlands setting with new areas, enemies, bosses, and connections to classic quests. Current beta files provide an early look at its layout and encounters, but boss mechanics, loot, and some locations may still change before release.
1. Wetlands Excavation Site Entrance
The dungeon is located in the southern Wetlands, above the existing Wellgar's Excavation area and near the back of Ironforge Mountain. Players can reach the meeting stone near a spider cave before following the path toward the instance entrance.
Unlike traditional indoor dungeons, Wetlands Excavation Site is an outdoor-style instance. It uses a large section of the existing Eastern Kingdoms environment, creating a seamless transition between the familiar Wetlands landscape and the new dungeon.
The dungeon is intended for levels 24-29, while some surrounding enemies range from roughly level 21 to 29.
2. Lost Marsh and Saltspine
The first major area is called the Lost Marsh. Players move through marshland and deeper water sections populated by creatures connected to the Wetlands environment.
The first boss is expected to be Saltspine, a large albino crocalisk. This encounter continues the area's long-running connection with Wetlands crocodiles and gives the dungeon a familiar starting point.
Boss abilities and loot have not been confirmed yet, so these details should be treated as early beta information.
3. Stalker's Thicket and Shade Tooth
After the marsh, players reach Stalker's Thicket, an area filled with tall grass, raptor nests, eggs, bones, and other signs of wildlife.
The second boss is Shade Tooth, whose name appears to reference Sarltooth, the raptor associated with the existing Wellgar's Excavation quest content.
The exact position of Shade Tooth is not completely clear from the current beta files. The boss may appear in Stalker's Thicket or around the nearby Lost Dig Site.
4. Highland Horror and the Lost Dig Site
The next important encounter is Highland Horror, a giant bog beast that closely resembles the creatures found throughout classic Wetlands content.
The Lost Dig Site continues the archaeological theme of the dungeon, with additional excavation areas, webs, and possible elite enemies. The environment also connects naturally with the existing Wetlands storyline and exploration areas.
5. Relic Guardian and Titan Lore
The final area is called the Sight of the Guardian, where the final boss is expected to be Relic Guardian.
This encounter appears connected to the archaeological and Titan-related storylines already found in Wetlands. The dungeon also contains a large object identified in the files as a Titan ruins head, suggesting that the excavation may reveal more about the area's ancient history.
6. Mystery Areas and Possible Dungeon Access
There is also a new instance portal near an old decorative farm area and the famous unused tunnel that once led beneath the world. Its purpose has not been confirmed.
Another mysterious location is Newman's Landing, which now includes a small boat that can transport players to Menethil Harbor. These features could eventually help with dungeon access, including possible faction-specific routes, but this remains speculation.
Overall, World of Warcraft: Forever Gold Wetlands Excavation Site looks designed to extend existing Wetlands exploration rather than replace it. Its bosses, environments, and archaeological themes all connect closely with familiar Classic content, while the outdoor dungeon format adds a new style of exploration to WoW Forever.
