Summary

The second stage of the Phantom Targets Creator Project in ARC Raiders is much trickier than it first appears. Instead of simply eliminating enemies, you're required to deal damage using three specific ARC gadgets:

  • Pop Triggers

  • Wasp Drivers

  • Leap Pulse Units

The problem? None of these weapons are particularly easy to use, and some are surprisingly rare. If you're missing the right gear, you can also prepare in advance with ARC Raiders Items. After completing this challenge myself, I've found a few reliable methods that make every objective significantly easier.

Here's the fastest way to finish each requirement without wasting valuable equipment.

1. Phantom Targets Step 2 Objectives

You'll need to deal damage to ARC enemies using:

  • Pop Trigger

  • Wasp Driver

  • Leap Pulse Unit

Only damage counts—you don't necessarily need to kill enemies with every gadget. However, choosing the right targets will save you a lot of time.

2. How to Complete the Pop Trigger Challenge

Where to Get Pop Triggers:

Pop Triggers are dropped by the small explosive ARC enemies that charge directly at players. They're common enough and can be found on most maps, so farming them isn't difficult.

How Pop Triggers Work:

Unlike grenades, Pop Triggers are unpredictable.

After deployment, they:

  • Roll forward in the direction you're facing

  • Randomly bounce around

  • Eventually explode on their own

Because you have almost no control over their final explosion point, landing damage consistently can be frustrating.

Best Strategy:

Don't throw Pop Triggers at single enemies.

Instead:

  • Wait until several ARC enemies are grouped together.

  • Roll the Pop Trigger into the middle of the pack.

  • Let random movement increase your chances of hitting something.

Even then, expect to use quite a few.

In my experience, it took roughly 20 Pop Triggers just to reach the required damage amount, so don't worry if progress seems slow.

Pro Tip

If you're already preparing to fight a Leaper, use your Pop Triggers there. Any damage dealt now helps with later objectives.

3. How to Complete the Wasp Driver Challenge

Where to Farm Wasp Drivers:

Wasp Drivers drop from the flying Wasps.

Fortunately:

  • They're easy enemies.

  • They appear fairly often.

  • Farming 8–10 Wasp Drivers usually provides enough for the challenge.

Best Target: The Leaper

This is where the challenge becomes much easier.

Rather than throwing Wasp Drivers randomly, use them against a Leaper.

Here's the setup:

  1. Find a doorway or narrow entrance.

  2. Drop three Wasp Drivers on the floor.

  3. Stand nearby and bait the Leaper into jumping at you.

  4. After landing, the Leaper becomes stunned for a brief moment.

  5. Shoot one of the Wasp Drivers.

The explosion typically chains into the other two, creating one massive blast.

This combo deals huge damage and often removes a large portion of the Leaper's health.

Repeat this process a few times and you'll accomplish two goals at once:

  • Complete the Wasp Driver damage requirement.

  • Kill the Leaper needed for the next objective.

4. How to Get Leap Pulse Units

Leap Pulse Units aren't something you can craft or easily find.

They're obtained by killing Leapers.

Because every unit requires defeating one of these dangerous enemies, each Leap Pulse Unit is valuable.

Don't waste them on weak targets.

5. Best Way to Use the Leap Pulse Unit

The Leap Pulse Unit behaves almost exactly like a Leaper's signature attack.

After placing it:

  • It charges for a few seconds.

  • Creates an energy field.

  • Explodes in a powerful area-of-effect blast.

The biggest challenge is making sure enemies stay inside the explosion.

Don't Use It on Small Enemies:

Fast-moving enemies frequently escape before detonation.

Instead, save your Leap Pulse Units for large stationary ARC enemies.

Best Target: Bastion

The Bastion is arguably the safest and most reliable target.

When firing at players, it remains largely stationary.

Simply:

  • Wait until it's shooting.

  • Place the Leap Pulse Unit directly beneath it.

  • Move away.

  • Let the explosion land.

This almost guarantees solid damage without risking unnecessary deaths.

Can You Use It on the Matriarch?

Technically, yes.

However, it's much harder.

The Leap Pulse Unit can't simply be thrown at the Matriarch from the ground.

Instead, you'll need to:

  • Climb onto the Matriarch.

  • Drop the device directly on top of it.

  • Escape before detonation.

It's possible—but unless you're intentionally looking for a challenge, it isn't the most efficient strategy.

6. Final Tips for Completing Phantom Targets Step 2

If your goal is finishing the project as quickly as possible, follow this order:

  1. Farm Pop Triggers from explosive charging enemies.

  2. Use them against groups of ARC enemies.

  3. Farm around 10 Wasp Drivers from flying Wasps.

  4. Use the triple Wasp Driver trap to defeat a Leaper.

  5. Collect the Leap Pulse Unit from the Leaper.

  6. Save the Leap Pulse Unit for a Bastion or another large stationary target.

By combining objectives wherever possible, you'll spend far less time farming and avoid wasting rare equipment.

Final Thoughts

Step 2 of the Phantom Targets Creator Project can feel frustrating because each gadget behaves differently, and two of them rely heavily on enemy positioning. If you want to save time preparing the required equipment, you can buy ARC Raiders Items before starting the challenge. Fortunately, with the right targets and a bit of planning, you can complete all three objectives in just a few successful encounters.

The biggest takeaway is simple:

  • Use Pop Triggers on groups.

  • Trap Leapers with Wasp Drivers.

  • Save Leap Pulse Units for Bastions or other stationary bosses.

Following these strategies will make one of the project's most awkward stages much faster and far less frustrating.
