Summary: The GTA 6 map has received another major community update, with Version 16 offering a much more detailed reconstruction of Leonida than previous versions. The new map incorporates information from recent leaks, trailers, screenshots and elevation data, while also correcting several assumptions from Version 15.

However, there is an important distinction: GTA 6 Map V16 is not an official Rockstar map or a leaked game file. It is a hand-built community reconstruction based on publicly discussed information and reported map data. For players can buy GTA 6 Money prepare.

That makes V16 particularly interesting because it provides one of the clearest visual representations yet of what the final GTA 6 world could look like.

The latest GTA 6 community map Version 16 shows a significantly updated reconstruction of Leonida, including Vice City, northern regions, smaller towns, roads and surrounding areas based on publicly discussed GTA 6 information.

GTA 6 Map V16 Is Much Different From V15

One of the biggest changes between GTA 6 Map V15 and V16 is the overall shape of Leonida.

Earlier community versions had to estimate large portions of the northern map because there was not enough information available. Recent map data has filled in much of that missing geography, especially around Leonida County, Mount Kalaga National Park and the northern regions.

The community reconstruction also adds or refines locations including Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Capri, Fairson Bay, the Keys and several airports and airfields.

The important point is that V16 is substantially more detailed than the earlier version, but it still should not be treated as the final GTA 6 map. The mapping community itself continues to revise roads, buildings, landmarks and unidentified areas.

New GTA 6 Map Locations Make Leonida Feel Bigger

V16 is especially useful for understanding how the different regions of Leonida fit together.

Port Gellhorn is one of the more interesting areas because the reconstruction now includes its port, surrounding industrial areas, an airfield and the Port Gellhorn International Raceway.

The raceway itself has attracted attention because its layout reportedly combines ideas associated with several famous real-world racing circuits.

Further south, Capri represents another major area of interest. The community reconstruction connects its design to several real Florida locations, helping explain why the GTA 6 world can feel geographically familiar while still being fictional.

The map also includes the Keys, wetlands, smaller communities, industrial areas and large rural spaces surrounding Vice City.

This is important for understanding GTA 6's scale. Leonida isn't simply a larger Vice City. It is designed as a broader state-like environment containing a major city alongside smaller towns, wilderness, waterways and other developed regions.

GTA 6 Map V16 adds more detail to Leonida, highlighting Vice City, Port Gellhorn, Ambrosia, Capri, airports, industrial areas and other locations across the expanded GTA 6 world.

GTA 6 Map Size vs GTA 5 and RDR2

The biggest question surrounding the new map is still its size.

During recent GTA 6 previews, information attributed to Rockstar North development head Rob Nelson described the GTA 6 map as roughly twice the size of GTA 5's map and around three times the playable area of Red Dead Redemption 2. Vice City itself was also described as roughly twice the size of Los Santos, while the developed area outside Vice City was said to be about 11 times the developed area outside Los Santos.

ComparisonReported scale
GTA 6 vs GTA 5About 2×
GTA 6 vs RDR2 playable areaAbout 3×
Vice City vs Los SantosAbout 2×
Developed area outside Vice City vs Los SantosAbout 11×

These figures are useful, but they do not provide an official square-kilometre measurement. Rockstar has not published a precise GTA 6 map area in km² or square miles.

That distinction matters because different map-measuring methods can produce very different results.

Why GTA 6 Map Size Is Difficult to Calculate

Community researchers have attempted to calculate the size of Leonida using pixel measurements and reconstructed maps.

One current map comparison project notes that the community reconstruction can produce land-area estimates in the roughly 83-125 km² range, depending on exactly what is counted. It also points out that doubling GTA 5's land-only figure produces a different result from doubling its total mapped area including water.

This explains why some fan calculations don't appear to match Rockstar's reported 2× figure.

There is another complication: GTA 6's playable area may not be identical to the visible map boundary. Water, underwater terrain, islands and potentially unrevealed regions can all affect measurements.

So while the exact number remains uncertain, the relative comparison is much clearer: Rockstar has described Leonida as approximately twice the size of GTA 5 and three times the playable area of RDR2.

What GTA 6 Map V16 Still Doesn't Tell Us

Despite the additional detail, several mysteries remain.

Some small towns and locations have not been definitively identified, while other areas are still represented using community names rather than confirmed in-game names. The status of certain islands from older development material is also uncertain.

Most importantly, V16 should not be confused with the final GTA 6 map.

Recent reporting has also highlighted an older GTA 6 map prototype from around the 2014-2015 development period. That material is useful for studying the game's development history, but it should not automatically be used to determine the size or contents of the 2026 release version.

The community map will likely continue changing as more official footage, screenshots and reliable information become available.

GTA 6 Map V16 Shows How Massive Leonida Could Be

The biggest takeaway from Version 16 is not simply that GTA 6 has a large map. It is that Leonida appears to contain far more variety outside Vice City than GTA 5 offered outside Los Santos.

Vice City remains the central urban environment, but players can expect the wider world to include smaller cities, industrial zones, GTA VI Money, wetlands, rural roads, islands, airports, race tracks and extensive waterways.

That also makes the GTA 6 map-size comparison more meaningful. The additional space isn't simply empty terrain added to increase the map's dimensions. The community reconstruction suggests Rockstar has created a world with many distinct environments and settlements.

With GTA 6 currently scheduled for November 19, 2026, the map will likely remain one of the biggest discussion points leading into launch.

For now, GTA 6 Map V16 is best viewed as a detailed community reconstruction rather than a confirmed final map. But when combined with Rockstar's reported size comparisons, it gives players a much clearer idea of just how ambitious Leonida could be.
