POE 2: How to Craft Mirror Staff in 0.4

POE 2 Mar-19-2026 PST

Today, we're diving into the world of crafting in POE 2 as I show you how to craft staff gear using the same principles we applied to wands, but with an emphasis on boosting your spell damage, adding sanctification, and ultimately crafting that perfect staff.

POE 2: How to Craft Mirror Staff in 0.4

Now, let's jump right into crafting this Mirror Staff.

Why Item Level 80 is the Sweet Spot for Crafting

Before we get into the nitty-gritty of crafting, I want to explain why I specifically chose Item Level 80 for the staff bases I used in this craft. I've spent a lot of time testing different item levels, and for this type of crafting, Item Level 80 is perfect for maximizing the potential of your staff without overspending. At Item Level 80, you can still hit all the necessary modifiers for spell damage and gains (whether it's cold, fire, or lightning). You won't be going for the high-end Item Level 81 bases because we're mainly targeting specific modifiers for spell damage.

The reason why Item Level 80 works so well is that it keeps the modifier pool manageable. By targeting only the essential modifiers (such as increased cast speed, critical hit chance, and level of all spell skills), you reduce the chaos bomb and increase your chances of hitting the optimal affixes.

Step-by-Step Crafting Process

Picking the Base:

We start by selecting the base for our staff. You'll want a three-socketed staff with Item Level 80. I grabbed a one-divine base for the first step, which is great value for what we're trying to accomplish. From there, I spent around 15 Divines on a slightly better base, still focusing on Item Level 80.

Fracturing for Critical Hit Chance:

The next crucial step is getting Fractured Increased Critical Hit Chance for spells onto the staff. This is where a lot of the heavy lifting happens. If you don't want to go through the trouble of fracturing, you can attempt to buy a staff that already has this affix. However, I did this from scratch using Perfect Augments to start the process.

Chaos Spamming for Spell Damage:

After we have the fractured critical hit chance, it's time to Chaos Spam the base for Tier 1 Increased Spell Damage. This process can be very expensive, especially with greater Chaos Orbs, but you'll need to hit Tier 1 spell damage to make this staff truly valuable. I spent roughly 200 Divines to hit this Tier 1 modifier, but the process can take a bit longer or shorter depending on your luck.

Applying Omen of Sinister Necromancy and Exalted Orbs:

At this point, we're ready to apply some Omen of Sinister Necromancy to reveal T1 gains (whether it's cold, fire, or lightning). You'll want to make sure you're blocking any unwanted affixes, such as mana or anything else that might ruin the value of the staff.

At this stage, I also used Perfect Exalted Orbs to apply specific gains to my staff, whether cold or fire. This part of the crafting is where patience comes into play, and the costs can add up quickly. With Essence of the Abyss, you can reveal higher-tier mods for a more affordable price than using traditional Jawbones. The total cost for this step ended up being about 1,300 Divines, but it was worth it to get that perfect prefix combination.

Finalizing the Craft:

After the initial crafting and applying T1 Gains, we move into the Well of Souls. In the Well of Souls, we hope to reveal T1 Cast Speed and Level of All Spell Skills as our last two prefixes. This process can be painful, as you're relying on Essence of Alacrity and Essence of Sorcery to hit the optimal modifiers, and it can be a grind.

Finally, after a few more Whittling Orbs and Exalted Orbs, we land on the perfect combination of Level of All Spell Skills, T1 Cast Speed, and T1 Spell Damage.

Sanctification and Final Touches:

Now that the staff is complete, we move on to the sanctification process. This is crucial because sanctifying the item can greatly increase its value, especially when you target modifiers like Level of All Spell Skills. Since sanctification has the potential to increase your gains or spell damage, it's a valuable process to consider. In this case, I was able to sanctify the staff to Level 18 Sigil of Power and Level of All Spell Skills for a nice boost in value.

Throughout the crafting process, I spent roughly 3,700 Divines on this staff, but the potential return could be significant, especially with the high demand for these types of POE 2 items. If you're looking to maximize your POE 2 Currency, crafting items like this can be a very profitable venture.

Even though the crafting process is time-consuming and requires a substantial investment in terms of Divines, Omen of Sinister Necromancy, and Exalted Orbs, the potential return is well worth the effort. With the right affixes and a well-executed craft, your staff could be worth one Mirror or more, which is an excellent way to accumulate POE 2 Currency. Keep practicing your crafting skills, and you'll be raking in the profits in no time!
